IRS official Lois Lerner tried to claim the 5th amendment right to avoid self-incrimination while testifying before the Congressional Committee investigating the IRS misuse of power. However the Chairman of the Committee, Congressman Issa says she waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel since she gave an opening statement denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. Howie said hooray for Issa and wanted Lerner's backside hauled back before the committee.

Quabbin Close Call
A group of five men and two women, all foreign nationals, were spotted by state police at about 12:30 Tuesday walking away from the Quabbin Reservoir - the water supply for Boston - toward two vehicles. A trooper stopped them and cited them for violating a posted no-trespassing zone. They were summonsed and then released. Howie wondered if the state police were crazy.
