Well maybe not...The unemployment rate counts only people who don't have a job and are looking for one. Once you stop looking, you're no longer considered unemployed. People who have taken early retirement or just stopped looking for work have caused the employment numbers to look better than they really are. This is also known as Shrinkage...Howie wondered how many people have given up.
