Army LTC Mark Solomon with Moe Lauzier

Army LTC Mark Solomon is from Burlington, MA. A graduate of Austin Prep High School, he obtained a BS in political science from West Point and later, a masters in public administration. Right now, he’s serving as a squadron commander - 6th squadron, 8th Cavalry to be exact - and leads roughly 650 troops. His biggest focus right now is on meeting with Sunni and Shia tribal leaders to help them work better together. He joined Moe Lauzier on February 23rd.

Maj. David Waldron with Moe Lauzier

Army Major David Waldron is serving on active duty in Iraq. A graduate of Natick High School, he went on to attend West Point, and is now on his second deployment in Iraq. He's working with the 3rd Infantry Division, and is responsible for facilitating relationships with tribal sheiks in MND-C's area of responsibility. He joined Moe Lauzier on Saturday, February 9th to discuss several parts of his job, including his management of programs with the “Sons of Iraq.”

Army Capt. Michael Signori with Moe Lauzier

South Boston's own Michael Signori is an Army Captain serving on active duty in Iraq. He coordinates travel for journalists in theater. For example: If journalist "A" from Time Magazine wants to cover a story in Mosul, he finds a unit that will host him, arranges the transportation and smooths out any complications along the way. He chatted with Moe Lauzier on February 2nd.

Lt. Col. Charles Perenick with Moe Lauzier

Lt. Col. Charles Perenick of Pittsfield, MA joined Moe Lauzier on January 26th. He reminded us that letters mean so much to the troops serving overseas, and discussed his recent move from the highly active green zone . He says most of the current aggression is happening to the north, but finally the Iraqi people are “dropping the dime” on Al Qaeda, and Iraqi security forces are picking up the slack.
