| Description: | Bored Boston government workers are goofing off on Facebook and other popular social networking sites on taxpayer time, boasting of napping during meetings, playing âMafia Wars,â creating anagrams of their names and planning Halloween costumes. Do you have any slackers in your work place? |
" outside. Sell one -- two -- start off here with the story. In The Herald today I don't know if you so if you've seen it it's. -- it's pretty funny story. And it's about City Hall the -- herald went to the FaceBook pages of some of these hacks who work at City Hall. Specifically for some of the us that there's some of the staffers of the of this Boston City Council. And they just when they checked it out in all these guys are doing all day long is these guys and gals both. All the doing all day long is just a screw around on FaceBook. I mean you know I can't say that I'm really shocked I -- it was a very humorous story. But I cannot say that that that it really surprised me and I use as someone -- used to work at City Hall long time ago I was a reporter but you know on the air every day just like. Just like hacks. I have to say that. They're always gonna for. Hacks are always gonna find a way to screw off and and not just tax either by the way. I meet people are going to just not do the work they're gonna figure out ways. Two was it to screw around. The poster girl for the on the clock cyber slacking is. Who -- earns 39000 a year of Boston City Council president Michael Ross has communications director so she's communicating on FaceBook."
" The former Boston magazine blogger regularly updates her personal status on FaceBook and Twitter throughout the day brazenly joking to more online pals about -- at a hearing. Ranks marquee comments about the reality TV show Jon and Kate plus say. Opining on an article about Boston being one of the best cities to meet guys and babble babbling about our Halloween -- Emea dirge -- is going to sit in the council meeting and now she wrote on FaceBook 11:49. AM last Wednesday. I believe the City Council meets every Wednesday -- at noon. The next day she spent the morning complaining about her -- each City Hall cubicle on Twitter. Somebody bring -- hot coffee and fluffy sweater plea she wrote at 930 to weigh him. She was apparently eager to punch out that they riding a 4:40 PM 20 minutes and I am -- UT out gone no longer present do not contact me what you want to drink shopper watched sporting events. Other FaceBook junkies include Mac Daniel -- 983000. Dollar year communications director of the mass convention center authority. He posted an item on FaceBook during one apparently lazy summer -- that showed his name is an anagram for I'm a candle."
" This can -- more from the goal. You know did did they expect -- was gonna be a war alcoholic. He's he's a bow tied bum kisser running a little bit ahead of the layoffs. Other work they musings included a YouTube video of comedian Lewis LCK and rants about what the World Series and GOP rep Joe Wilson who famously shouted you lied the President Obama during a speech. City councilor John -- 71000. Dollar year administrative assistant Dave is -- plays a web based game called mafia wars almost daily on FaceBook during regular work hours. Ross said one of the reasons he hired the juror what did. -- was to broaden his social networking and develop a personality for his office. I'd like what Amy's doing said Ross adding that he encourages -- urge you to use FaceBook and Twitter to spread his message to constituents. It's not so much that she's -- away her time would be flattering. Way -- time she doesn't have time to waste. Tobin defended this -- FaceBook usage this guy plays mafia wars all day. Saying his staff doesn't work a typical nine to five acknowledged probably more like a typical. I don't know eleven to new -- and -- three -- four day you're just I mean just talking about it. The thing -- most upset about his oldest prime play mafia wars and he hasn't come close to the top ten in scoring Tobin cracked. A sort of hours they know that the they've hired these guys they they -- gaming you're applying to mansion just mafia Norris. I was doing some some stuff but it wasn't wasn't I was doing some rather. Candidate of one of my projects entity that's what I was doing it did say wars on a double but it did say mafia wars it's an Indian wars. But India was a mafia war anyway but what I'm you know again. I don't have to account for I'm not working for told -- I'm working for for myself here I'm a self employed contractor what it boils down to. But anyway that the fact is though people screw around people -- whatever happens. What whatever wherever people are bureaucracy. Even in the dreaded private sector people are gonna screw around. And this is funny this is funny stuff but it's no different than anything else I mean there's an old joke you know. Why do state workers. Not look help them look out their windows. In the more in the morning. Why has an enemy outside the minute now because they wanna have something to do in the after known. I'd say she's -- so she's talking on FaceBook about Jon and Kate and whatever that does that that's stupid show as. You know what I used to go out up for coffee in the morning it's really all you know that I guess the cafeteria was on the ninth for the -- for a can't remember where. If they're there were all -- ever would be talking about these silly ass TV show only in those days they word they were Dallas -- dynasty or something like that. Bet that's all the so now so now they don't talk among themselves. In in -- line will be your cup of coffee they they go out and they you have."
" Then they they just want to their FaceBook accounts that's all. 18774694322. Are the people at your office who screw off towards the people who were screwing off. Right now who aren't doing any thing who has time to screw up really. Will we don't because everybody you know and it will live and we're in a place where everybody's been laid off. I you know I mean the -- this is a this is a dying industry it's a you know this is like this like beau jest you know we Doral and the first or business around here is propping up the dead bodies on the walls and putting the rifles up there so that nobody stood so that the -- the better ones I think there's still there's still a force year. This what you call it -- At a zombie radio station so we have to pretend we have to -- the bodies up. But you know there are still a lot of people out there who work at places where -- business may be off but they've still got a lot of people who weren't dornin expect. One of the great things in the in the computer error. Era the we live is this -- is this whole thing about being able to minimize the screen. Some people you don't let some at some places I mean I don't wanna. -- I don't wanna shock anybody that works of Boston City Hall but there's some places where. Playing mafia wars were to three hours a day. In your office would be frowned apartment. At that point you would be that that minimize erupt there villages so as soon as you saw your boss counselor Tobin or whoever -- men. You would minimize it and he would go to some mud Drury spreadsheet -- for for the FY yet went deep -- noble City Hall budget or something. But. -- gonna score around whatever -- in whatever business how about the people take."
" The long bathroom breaks. 18774694322. But the people put off for smokes. You'll whenever we talk about smoking on the show whenever I've heard people talk about it elsewhere they say. I'm tired of these guys going out every Howard taken ten minutes to go out for smoke break. There's all kinds of ways to was it is. To have to cannot do when he thing under you know. What about all of people it takes three hour lunches would developing City Hall do you Massey hall is closed food downtown crossing -- most places in downtown crossing -- closed. They they've gone out of business but I used to be good place to shop during -- Then you could go to out to the purple shamrock and have some mine have some adult beverages and Cornell components pizza. And get a nice slice and and you go crossed a fee annual hall and I get some dessert. At the Boston shipyard I mean jeez it's like today it's like no way it's almost like being at Disney World. 18774694322. 1877. Fort it was funny the first people posting on this story this morning at the at The Herald -- people who work. Working the overnight shift somewhere and they were saying attic so bad listen here's -- doin' today. As the -- in my place of business Macon fifteen dollars and 59 cents an hour. And you -- the that print four you mid just write down all they can all -- but nothing worked it would go well I read a couple of newspapers first and then I gonna check out my book and that idea that I go to the bathroom a couple of times the idea -- my head down to the all night McDonald's and the go through a drive through. -- The Israel say image of -- defended these hacks at City Hall or busted this morning. I'm just saying it goes on everywhere it doesn't it. Why an 877469432. To so call in and rat out a neighbor or a a coworker I should say. -- neighbor.
