" Total bail us. But -- rail line has what was -- in Washington excuse -- for the united he's been to a number of -- can give us some great perspective has some good seats and some great -- just -- that's including. About -- an act reports it got all excited -- there we mentioned -- so let's go right to Joe -- I'd -- the -- morning. We are doing great taught in time here we're delighted to rip the joint it's okay it's a UN via or all the big pageantry in the -- you've seen these before. What was different what was unique about the Iraq bell bomber inauguration."
" Well you know when when Larry risky night started off Saturday night with a dinner at the palm I think the first thing what is being done -- come through the door at the pump. -- is six feet worth of hair wearing Obama --"
" Is he is scary looking character I've met him I have to tell you that was that was the kick off for crazy but -- UDF five days now and then -- all the while you're gonna have to go to -- All -- by the wind must've -- flowing -- political -- There was a lot of politics going on no question about it a week to have Todd and I did a whole set -- whole show yesterday on the dynamic haven't -- it sensed was that this was really a largely. African American celebration. And we argued about it I said Gina my impression that I really thought it was you know that the million of them of the melting pot. To the max and I'm curious what you saw what you you know what you experienced yourself on the street to DC."
" Well you know -- If you look at the television reports which which we saw our little bit out when -- now we're back at the hotel you would think that. The crowd was you know 95% African American and while there were clearly. Mini. That many young and old African Americans people there. It was a tremendous cross section of America needs it was like being at the UN he saw. He saw you on hold you so black Latino he -- unions are Asian it was. It was really the melting pot in I think what I saw appeared in addition to. A lot of views. Tremendous amount of young kids all over the city. It was a very polite to five days I think compared to the other and knuckles and back onto its -- the carded 77 the two Clinton wants. It was five days that stability and debt that was remarkable given that there were almost too many people in the city like. The other -- you know it was a -- I was talking to world. Chris Cooper who covered the Obama campaign for The Wall Street Journal just joined our Washington office in incorporate covered Obama for eighteen months and he was saying that. You know he would he would -- to -- an art world for example need to look these were very. Pro business. But then he said you had 3000 Texans and then Republican congressional staff and he said is he was. Riding on his bike with his young son down. But a Washington memorial he was struck by just literally he's -- they were people in Washington that he's never seen before -- in the city for. For twenty years like the first thing to Tom get a day yesterday. I was just struck -- nine my wife were getting ready we're in the sinner of the capital -- at least I watched this. This gentleman had to be -- be eighty years of age African American -- had his hat on in his tie and we watched some sort of struggling to walk. Down and he have to be seated. One section over for months and as Obama was taking in the Oval Office I couldn't help but just look over to the sky in just wondering. What -- going through his head just watching that."
" This is more of a democratic event rather than a power structure event is every --"
" I would I would say it was a universal that and and and a bipartisan event. In a lot of ways. Even Republican. Staffers that you run into in the restaurants. Wording saying that Obama's people at reached out to them. Even before swearing in in the nearest. Different tone in Washington whether it's states. Who knows what -- is very different than anything nineteen previously."
" Joey put on an amazing campaign and I can't help but be reminded and give give them politics a lot. A running here in Iran where it's how you would describe. This situation which is the factual situation. 88 you know in the fall of 2000 -- just a little bit more than eight years ago. This guy had gotten shellacked by Bobby Russian Iraq inning in an election. After a vote as a candidate for congress. -- could not get credentials could not get inside. The Democratic National Convention. Eight years ago now based upon what you've shared with us from what we've seen without her own eyes. -- the world this morning over him as if truly he's a political must Cyrus not -- messiah have you ever seen a political story like --"
" It it's hard to imagine someone who. But and have years ago was this state senator in Illinois and now suppressing and it states -- you try to pictures someone in Serb. In a master's statehouses -- states that are no disrespect to say okay five years later they going to be. President United States split. You know if you for all of us that were at 2004 convention and saw that speech. You had to say this guy is a -- incredible talent. I think yesterday or Tuesday just listening to his words. They were actually very simple words. -- They if you read the speech which I did on the plane coming back yesterday those would not. Big words that he used in his remarks about the inaugural address inaugural address. In effect he did did not over promise which I thought was was. Which really. Very striking nowhere in the end speech to say over promised but but the Tom's point -- out how far he came. Again you have to look at distance today. He no one would put him as a paper against Hillary Clinton. Eighteen months ago. And delegated Chris Cooper was still mayor guy -- DC that I covered Obama in Iowa City started off -- if you like minute speeches. In Iowa in an axle rod would be beating them with -- stick element. You have to talk more crisply have to get your message out in. Which sought Tuesday it was eighteen minutes of such -- great pros and notre."
" Ate dinner stories going on -- the it do you told me out also -- the politics behind the scene Bill Richardson New Mexico land of course the the legendary or notorious and some -- act. They'll kill but tell us site give us some of the political gossip that's going on down that."
" What you know what was contrasting his I think you saw the bell go off for the 2016. Presidential campaign. This week in Washington and in a couple of different."
" audience's eyes just out of the glaze over did you say 2016. Meant that the presidential election you gotta explain to us I."
" Well -- and I were at the Huffington Post party. Sunday -- Monday night which was. Elbows and it is -- goes in and -- boat show this was sort of the California vote talk show it was so everything let. You could imagine. Was on display. And I think we were one of the few Massachusetts people that would -- but it was Val Kilmer holding court. And it's thousands of these Hollywood types would be year and he was telling anyone that would listen debt. He had bill Richardson's deputy chief -- with them any said that he intended to run for governor in Mexico 2000 and when rich Richardson's term is up is term limited. And people -- G -- think you've never run for anything nieces will look you know Schwarzenegger who's gotten elected and in Reagan got elected meant that only god Al Franken might have got elected yeah I think it may have gotten elected yup that's certainly lowers the bar yet for sure. And that's so easy Kilmer and you think Mike got this guys are thinking okay don't run for governor of Mexico. Be governor for six years in Hollywood I can raise a lot of money and you know across the other part of town there was Terry McAuliffe who -- the Clinton's fund raiser extraordinaire. Who is running for governor of Virginia. And I watched. The -- over five days. -- in every right room and I thought okay that golf is going to run for governor Virginian 2010. It's a one term governorship. He'll finished out in 2014. And in his size he's figure it out 2015. He's got his exploratory committee and I bet to -- it was just Gary interest deceit as subplots going on over over a period we're really -- is to be out. Obama and and Joe Biden. "
" US five days Joe -- line of fun and games in the midst of a political history -- you know national history being made in that you are great. To shared with us well."
