" John Kerry's been with this before we welcome back to finesse for a Marjorie cooperative Tom Finneran -- welcoming as Senator John Kerry good morning set it up. The morning Tom good to be ridiculous to --"

" Hey it's great to be with you you're listening and I hope to have. Other congressman."

" Well I heard the last points I heard him say the -- election comes down there are two words gas prices I think the congressman missiles are targeted as ridiculous that he also wasn't telling the truth. About the energy bill. So fast. I mean that is just ridiculous. I can't believe that they. Think this thing is just to joke it's not a joke to the American people. What's happening to their jobs jobs going overseas wagers are frozen. I mean most people in America worried about being able to pay the bills not just the gas bill but that tuition bill the mortgage. The the home heating costs. That I held here on the lips. And this guy wants to reduce it to to work against what the Republicans still it is ridiculous. These guys have run the country below last. Seven years the -- six years. We now are divided power over the last year and -- fortunately the president vetoes of things we do the report children's health care vetoed. One vote difference so they override stem cell research. C -- one vote difference on the override. So there's an enormous differences here John McCain's. What Scott McCain voted with George Bush 95%. Of the time last year 90% of the time over eight years. And most Americans have come the conclusion that 90% of George Bush is the percent more than they could stand it it's."

" I I guess John I guest is John Kerry and he's come out of the box swinging -- we have lieutenant governor Tim Mariano we know he in the governor return for the funeral the the second match be servicemen and I think that's the third overall in the in the war. Senator -- you know you you made your views known on not to on the issue over the -- in Iraq. What issued tell."

" Way about driving down right now I also -- back on great jetBlue last night. Barbara seven dollar pillow. Zero am I driving down on drug data match beat out -- private first class all the problems you know it is. He sat out."

" I didn't want to yeah. The Massachusetts allegations that are it's a -- trip and your priorities in the right place and we said that we said that about the governor we have to say it is tempting to senator Eric well and we didn't want to presume that but I was delighted to hear that you returned and and obviously we you know you're going. You're going back a couple of quick questions. Joe Biden he would -- vice presidential nominee your thoughts on Joe Biden and and in specifically. -- Joe Biden said like that such is like Q when Hillary Clinton like actually. Voted for the Iraq resolution. Instead give the other opinion and I only have. I told halt to McCain to push back against the Iraq message."

" No not not not in the least because Joe Biden. Was. Joe Biden was very clear as I it was clear that -- others were. About the terms of our boat we were not voting to give the president the authority. The president promised us that he would in fact used the authority to go in unilaterally. Did not build a coalition to not do planning -- not exhaust the remedies in the United Nations. All the things like -- and -- the president broke the provost John McCain never required those promises John McCain didn't care that they were broke it. John McCain was -- of the acolytes of the conservative view the you can just invade Iraq and transform the middle reached. And he has never acknowledged the degree to which these guys. Made a mistake. Most Americans have come the conclusion that this was a -- a mistake. To put America in the middle of -- civil war in a place where there were no nuclear weapons and ignore the place where there are nuclear weapons Pakistan. And ignore the place where the terrorist Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden did they are which is northwest territories to Pakistan and Afghanistan. Finally there administration's waking up to the problem of Afghanistan John McCain. Was the last person to come on board insights always got to put some troops into Afghanistan. Barack Obama's senate over a year ago. So what we want is a pleasant United States whose judgments about these things are correct. And I believe Barack Obama is incorrect and John McCain has been unfortunately just unbelievably -- about expects."

" Senator John Kerry is our guest -- NW RKO. And that we're talking about the conventions -- let me ask you about tonight last evening obviously I saw you doing. -- on your interviews. Ted Kennedy did us all around the country proud."

" Are pure and now."

" At and what and so we were also moved to Michelle Obama I think -- out of the park. Ten night it begins. Two. Patched together. Hillary supporters. As you know I was among them and I am a strong Barack Obama supporter today but. As you look forward to tonight will we hear platform tonight or will mostly be Hillary's and I. To give her. The courtesy in that respect of her eighteen million votes and then."

" Aren't -- Hillary has. You know the victory Hillary having their their pictures to you know Mark Warner will talk about Democratic Party and give -- so called keynote speech tonight. But the real centerpiece speech tonight everybody knows as Hillary Clinton. It will be very well received she's going to do a terrific job of confidence can be a good speech just got an -- out -- but you're out -- campaigning she's been -- so -- I think. She'll do very well I think that -- people will be called to the task of change. -- of completing the task. And I think this can be good evening I -- beaver unified party tonight very unified party tomorrow here Joe Biden. Their dog into invesco stadium for Thursday night. And Barack Obama's page."

" Senator that Tom Finneran again the opinion -- the a lot of the talking gets not you not across the board that many of them talking about still continued tension lingering. Hot to go to other nations recriminations back and forth finger pointing between the supporters you're in the middle of that you've been through it itself. What's -- you what's your sense of the dynamic behind the sequence."

" lucky in the day that I was in -- only their third day I just I didn't see that you know people are trying to create. Because they'd need that kind of consulate. Let let me just say -- that you're exposed and other -- both front process you know what -- is like. People kind of stopped for a moment. And an American people want us to stop for a moment to really focus. On America on the problems that we -- which are just gigantic. They're bigger now than they were before for the simple reason. This administration and this is not rhetoric this is not politics or partisanship. Is back so there's John Adams said. Blacks are still on the -- they -- you know that fact is were hurting. America has lost influence in the world there's no other way that North Korea could just go ahead and be building more bombs no other way that Iran could snubbed its nose -- just go ahead and build. No other way -- could invade Georgia and do what you want meanness you know things are running amok. More terrorists Al Qaeda is in sixty countries now. On September 1 September 11 of 2001. Spirit about 45 countries. So Al Qaeda is stronger Osama bin Laden is still alive. We are bogged down in Iraq here at home our economy is in shambles Freddie Mae Freddie or Freddie Mac Freddie -- Fannie -- May well be taken over by the federal government you have an enormous foreclosure problem. People are worried about jobs wagers are stuck. But but inflation doesn't start. And and and the cost of living -- instruct it's going out. So people know. That things aren't right. And there are they don't cheer when they don't care a wit about. Hillary Clinton Barack Obama problems -- so that they want a serious discussion. About how we're gonna fix the problems that this country. And and that's what I want."

" And and and and I think you've hit it right on the head am but -- you and me this and it's not a rhetorical question. Everything -- laid out in all of the dismal failures the last day writers of the Bush Administration. Why arm are the two candidates in a dead heat why isn't Iraq."

" There's a lot of Americans it's a great question Margaret I think the reason is first of all. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton -- long drawn out primary campaign and based on McCain did not. And that automatically nearest and has and secondly. A presidential races are always party nowadays we know this historically. There's an automatic 42 the 45%. Per each Canada and inside you're fighting for sort of 10% in between. Thirdly a lot of people still don't know either candidate completely. And so McCain is trying to cement themselves in as the mavericks and -- trying to define Barack Obama as anything but the rich normal Americans and Barack Obama has to get himself known now undefined. Most importantly people need to understand a lot of people see these problems. But they've had the ability to blame them on one side or the other what we're -- Well -- they are cynical exactly. But they also play you know they'll like congress so that they think it Democrats are to blame -- Israel but the fact is the Republicans -- the house. The Republicans ran the Senate. And Iran the White House from the year 2000. All the way through to 2006. We have only been in control. Or a year and a half now in the inaccurate. We passed a lot of things the president has vetoed some of them. But in addition. We've been blocked in the Senate people don't really -- a lot of people in America just don't realize. That it takes sixty votes to get anything done through the silent and time and again we've gotten more filibusters in the last year and a half. In the last year even. That we've -- at any time in America's 200 point nine year history we've never had as many filibusters in a full two year period. As we've had an -- here the Republicans are blocking and blocking and it only takes. Forty votes. To boarding -- stop something from happening. And and so we need more votes in the United States senate that's what I hope changing in. Will will will beat the obstructionist Republicans -- no apparent. -- I like he's good guide but he has been stopping. Good energy policy of going through likewise say you know we go around the country. You could find these Republicans who go home and tell people what they're doing that in fact they're really not doing those."

" Senator so much to talk about we opiate consider coming back on RKO and another -- on -- and I I want to go back to break here quickly to Iraq because this seems to be a lot of commentary both sides of the -- at least is the way I -- that acknowledges the surge which McCain really aligned himself with. And critic got criticized Rumsfeld Cheney and bush for the execution that the surge seems to have provided. The requisite political opportunities now they have been closure on it but that the surge has worked what's that what -- GR response to that. Observation is a default is if it's a false to say that the steerage has led to a drop in civilian and an end military deaths what should take on the --"

" It's using its confusing -- at the honest answer is that the surge has had some positive impact. Where there have been additional troops which nobody doubted responsible. It is we've been able to raise the level of security. But the purpose search was not just to raise the level of security the purpose of the Serbs. Surge was to give the Iraqis. That they're breathing space within which they were to make the decisions politically. That would allow American troops to come home. Now the fact is that the surge. They could never have succeeded. Militarily by itself. If the Iraqi. Shakes hadn't made their own decision politically. That they were going to take on Al Qaeda. And that decision was made a political decision not a military one. Was made prior to the surge ever being announced. In Anbar Province the so called. Aaron those Sunni awakening the sons of Iraq as they're called. Started. In the year preceding the search. And I have met with those with the governor vanguard that -- shakes the beta decided on narrow and they didn't like Al Qaeda. They were tired of Al Qaeda blowing up their villages boy you know stealing their women to marry them. Whole host of things and got angrier that it native political decision to fight back. And it was after that. That the surge was announced and the suddenly. Engaged -- us whether that be part of the insurgency. So it's the politics that I have to change. And John McCain sort of tries to benefit. Certainly the good luck if you will and good fortune that the -- made that political decision. And take an agenda in the end John McCain remains. Fixated on a military. Solution. And and has been opposed to the very thing that now George Bush's even come do that Prime Minister Maliki has come through. Which is it's time to set a date for withdrawal that's Barack Obama's position that's the Democrat position. And -- George Bush and the prime minister of Iraq are implementing -- they're they're Democrats position. They Obama position. And John McCain is out there on his -- that's the real issue in this campaign you have a man who has never admitted it was a mistake. And who thinks that going into Iraq is the okay kind of thing to do and when your stereo and Iran. You're staring at Russia you're looking around as I want better judgment in the White House frankly."

" Senator John Kerry is our guest you're listing to WRT on the time it's 930 boring and so senator it's march again again so you don't confuse me with time. That."

" De LA but I didn't stop there --"

" John Jones says you know -- the sensible Democrat John no. The only day in my disclaimers that was sincere."

" pops out. John is so attuned. You -- where I'm going from the most serious. Of policy issues that will be part of the campaign. Moving forward to go to the lighter side John McCain as the evening. I suspect you didn't see because you probably still on the floor but it did that game."

" I was out of I was done I think Nugent the I was a young most."

" And a jetBlue with a seven dollar pillow well. Well pay attention let me tell you two things number -- he was actually pretty funny and which I think it's a good thing and I want to know your opinion on that because I haven't seen Barack Obama be funny. Or. Or as engaging as I -- he has up close and personal. And number two. He may it light John McCain on the Leno show last evening of his commercials where he talks about Britney Spears talks about Paris Hilton and puts them in this sort of celebrity place where he suggests that voters you don't want to just vote for Barack Obama -- another celebrity. Something light. That is going to connect with the voters they don't only money here policy that registers with them I think you when I've talked about this many times when they cast their ballot they want to cast their ballot. For somebody they think they light and likes them backed semi naked have a beer with somebody they could hang out with and feel comfortable with so."

" Does that tell you get George Bush. They're Netanyahu with a great way to make a decision about presidents. Let these guys you're going to see a lot of Barack Obama the next days people are really -- like this guy I don't know which you -- but last night with his kids out -- engaging in response that was funny. I --"

" That's sort of what -- gave me the thought that even has a solid Democrat. I'm hungry to see. The human side of them like I saw Michelle out."

" You know you'll see a lot of Leno and col Baer and Stewart all these things in the next days and very funny guy. He has been on those shows that funny some -- you know we all miss those things sometimes but. I'm confident you're going to see. Quite a bit of them but. Believe me this this race is not about having appear this race is about being able to afford to buy a beer fears are. We'd better. Did you want to Stalin not just -- that's what it's about it we're gonna make sure that. People really focus on the difference of opportunities here don't don't don't get seduced into the social stuff."

" No I just updated it was them. Consistent with our callers one of them is asking him if you know I -- you."

" I do I -- well -- are older are no lines. I don't know it's Canada."

" Of course I do obviously I was quite surprised by that Serb and any license. Exact I must say you know they would -- my wife and I've often been accused of having a pack on loans but the fact is. That -- her husband was unfortunately killed and tragic -- crashed when it is a sitting senator. -- a widow obviously. And all of the you know abscess that she had a district -- so what people accuse her of having all in Pennsylvania are all here there actually -- kids. The ones -- on the origin of trust for grandchildren through the status of the well they nauseated. You know. Goods."

" I was I was I was being facetious with. My tongue for -- but I didn't pitching went."

" I know sometimes people -- that stuff around and it never gets clarified that the important department."

" Yeah and and we've all learned that especially use senator and I think -- it's it's exciting."

" I've learned -- I had to make sure people understand -- shouldn't."

" And it was great I had done I had a wonderful time on your campaign I'm looking forward to Barack Obama's campaign. And I think it's smart to be prepared for. The dumb and silly questions. As well as the very --"

" and I have absolutely. I'm -- is that you know this doesn't everything's there we all notes -- amber and any good erratic."

" We know you're off to the a funeral arrangements for Paul com on the army pfc. And perhaps be second once we won't keep you we started off this conversation that spent the last question only to the Senate this time. Started off this conversation with regard to your response to Eric -- the congressman's. Kind of silly talk about gas prices and energy I'm curious what you think. About the booed at T Boone Pickens plan which has been getting a lot of -- time purchased by T Boone Pickens no surprise. But it is that a legitimate starting point terrorist that a legitimate piece of an energy. A comprehensive energy."

" You juror no I -- actually outlook obviously I have my enormous. You know. Differences -- them about what he did -- 4. With the support for the swift boat liars. Adams. You know that's unfortunate thing that's you know that's that part of that history. The fact is that what he has said about energy and our independence. What he has said about the transfer wealth overseas is right on point. And I'm glad that he is spending millions of dollars and constructive way. Rather than a destructive way and you know we've we obviously need to build an energy policy so hopefully we will."

" up with that week we will let you go senate we're grateful for all the time you've given and again Marjorie and I and -- be -- all RKO audience we're comfortable in saying this. You have demonstrated the right priorities by coming back from Denver to attend this funeral we know you'll be back in Denver tonight. And that's a long long. It is difficult bloodlines nonetheless it doesn't even begin to compare with a -- not lost their work is that's that's out an aunt and with that I think no final words could be spoken. We'll close with senator John terrorism that's thanks to Senator Kerry and that Marjorie and I will be back in a moment on -- succeed WRKO."

" Funding programs forum you've got little puzzling -- Other morning shows was going to GoDaddy he thought you. Cool idea of Bob hungry the bottom of the thank you were -- I'm proud I am November the only voice over is right here on Boston's talk station hey M 680 W audio."
