" I'm fan -- chili con on the New England marketing manager for all the intercom radio stations and I wanted to welcome all of you here and thank you for coming and this is a very big day for WRK out. -- introduced to my very bright Tom -- Who has date that play in a moment we'll become the new morning host at WR KO radio. And to my far right are Vice President of programming Jason Wolfe who all turn me microphone over to now."

" Thank you Julian thank you all for coming I appreciate all the interest that this story has gotten over the last few days and weeks it really gives me great pleasure today to welcome Tom to WR KO and take over our morning drive slot I began pursuit of him back in march of last year when I was -- program director. Through this process gotten to know him personally. I think he has an engaging and extremely compelling personality will provide us with -- incredibly entertaining radio program day in day out. He brings intelligence wit and passion. All traits that are of prime importance to any talk show host success I know he's capable of great things I'm extremely excited to be working with them and with that. -- welcome --"

" thanks Jason and thanks particularly to Julie. And thanks to all of you for via. How to help I've listened to Jason's introduction to think that he sounded very very much like -- my wife said to somebody are thought it was a most engaging charming person. However merited Judaism my two daughters are here and is he meant little granddaughter of the Styron Mike. Life my little rag and four months old. And I'm delighted to join Julie and Jason in the -- WR KO team. I'm looking forward to making the show everything that people hope talk radio today. Educational informative entertaining funny sometimes you'll be angry sometimes you be sad sometimes you'll -- and -- sometimes you'll want to interest me are events that are happening -- other side to the other side of the world. Is going to be a lot of things about what's going on in the front back out of Boston the so covers sports and business politics you name it we're going to cover it and we're going to talk about and in a very interesting entertaining and we think really highly informative way my dream quite frankly is to have everybody come out of their house in the morning. They hop in their cast sometimes to driving a son and daughter off to school there hustling to make the first meeting of the day. But everyone of us is in need up to the minute education up to the minute information and presented in a timely interesting way. I've had the benefit and an extraordinary two Koreas already. One in public life some of you -- fairly familiar with that. And more recently as the president to the -- biotech counsel for the past two years and so to have this opportunity come along. Jason's right he did -- chasing me and wanted to talk to me many many many months ago and that a little bit of talk radio I'm not much but have done enough of other over the is so that I was always intrigued by it and so what challenge when people would say to you should consider that you probably have a future in talk radio. Who'd who'd -- it really but he we got today. Now to talk about an -- to announce that it's about the stuff that I KOI could not be. Happy -- very very excited about the opportunity of looking forward to making this 82. -- talk station that you'll all tune into each and every day to get something going and elect to make sure that as you went to that first meeting -- you drop is son a daughter often at school yet you've learned something. Stood in the five minutes of the 55 minutes you've been America."

" And questions."

" sure height recognize it goes -- 126 years of getting ready for people people calling in and criticizing when your in public life every decision you make energy some fans and also -- some foes and some critics and if you don't have fairly thick skin. And -- have the ability to sort of present the posture of the prospective if you decision your position. Then you wouldn't last and politics and it's certainly not last and talk radio so. I realized that Britain as I said in my own remarks virtually every subject is going to be on the table this -- spontaneity to talk radio that actually makes it exciting. -- no idea of who the next cholera is what the next caller is going to say. In you have to have you have to be well informed and you have to have your wits about you and I hope to bring a sense of history and perspective and proportion. So that as you get into those contentious moments in the not to be avoided that's really the essence of -- as you get into those contentious moments. You might leave the person and having a discussion are an argument with with a little different -- point of view little frame of reference for something that makes them -- the next time they're about to a statement."

" I was Tom Finneran responding to a question which we can't hear unfortunately but was he prepared to mix it up by guests. In in talk radio and he's being asked no question."

" And it's it's been every emotion that it could imagine me immensely proud of the record that I built in public life I represent the people of Dorchester -- and 26 years. In the lady is about public service that encompass a couple of neighborhoods in Milton. I was fabulously proud of the faith in me when I was elected I was 28 is -- as a young kid and in any -- in the men's room was in the statehouse and yet they had a sense of confidence that maybe I can go up the terrorist -- on two feet speak up all of them. Try to move that things -- that they felt were important try to fight against that things that they would worry about that would have been. Harmful to them and go over the years and within the legislature. My colleagues gave me opportunities that I never would have dreamed of served as the chairman of banking -- went to the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. And then my colleagues elected me five times notably the speakers so I have just immense pride in the he is that I served in the legislature even with the events of last week. In the plea that I and -- in in court to the obstruction of justice judge I can look you square in the I would not change a thing so it's just it was just great there's an emotional side of it no question you sought some of that in the court house last week. A blemish to my racket and I realize that an apologize far in its it stands in contrast that blemish stands in contrast to a 26 year history of accomplishment -- particular on probably the most sensitive subject in -- society in our country and around the world the issue of race. And how people can relate to each other and live harmoniously together all of my neighbors on the street black my neighborhood is black my district is black I was a white guy from the beginning to the end but it was not a question of race. With my constituents on my neighbors my friends and even the federal court the prosecutors acknowledged that after very very aggressive. Two year investigation they said an open court. No evidence whatsoever impropriety no evidence whatsoever corruption no evidence whatsoever racial manipulation no evidence whatsoever. We're trying to white my legislative district for political reasons and finally they conceded an exemplary record of public service. To make a mistake shook up at a price but doesn't -- so the range of emotions little high and low I would love to land on the highest -- as they've been sent to the judgment I wish the story ended. Right but it's an indictment a mistake in court on November 14 -- That's a disappointment to try to hopeful it and that's what this is all about today beautiful we're going to write a new chapter. Under a new chapter for Tom Finneran to new -- Iraq they go to new -- for Boston and eastern Massachusetts. In a great great way for all of lost our lease us kind of the team here not KO to try to make sure that he's in Massachusetts -- every day. With some news with something that's funny that's something that's witty that's something that's at the moment."

" Turning its journey leap of faith why we think he'd be great talk show host with the"

" no I didn't but -- know let me leave it at that well I think it relates to this young lady's question you know again in politics you have to learn to work with people of all -- all persuasion. Some people bring -- perhaps -- level of cynicism to the table than others and others has operated a different way but that was for me the joy of the legislature 360 members elected house every two years and they come from every walk of life -- experience. All right old -- rich and poor white black and rural and city kids and all the rest and trying to. Try to make something coherent out of -- of days and so you know. Actually how we you know I've known how which he has come at me when I was to really -- young happened got -- a couple of political squabbles and political powers back then Kevin white alike is -- reference came across. -- and once upon a time that I was. Young rising credible capable articulate Styron that I became speaker of the house and thought it was a fraud so hope that's that goes with the answer if I understand that I I expect that how we recognize what I recognized. We were forensic problem worked at WR KO the whole thing is to make sure Iraq it was the best. Rock station in all of Massachusetts that people eager to tune -- for information respect."

" I invite you to turn in that tune in around 530 today."

" Question for Jason wolf the program director WRK -- has any concerns about integrity Tom tragic -- is to promote to put on people who have. Compelling and engaging personalities and who can generate intelligent and entertaining discussion. That's what talk radio is all about and just in the last few minutes I think he's giving you great sense of what this will -- I don't think there's too many people that that. Our Boston. And we need somebody who is incredibly local who had -- a passion for the city who understands that the information needs to be discussed and can do an island."

" Jason and I have a vision of local talk radio that is compelling in I can't think of a more. Compelling personality and Tom Finneran. You know Boston is -- city that likes to talk about itself and what's going on within Boston and doesn't necessarily want to hear talk show host piped in from LA or New York. And we think we're going to deliver that in spades with Tom mornings."

" That was Julie -- the general manager of the -- cluster here in Boston the mortgage another -- terms shall remain private. Some multi year contract."

" We're going to build a show around Tom this was a lengthy process that very very excited to be able to culminate today but he was to keep peace and without him our plans probably would have gone in different directions -- they'll be a little bit of suspense and I question that our planet's two uses vast array of resources in addition to the local context we have. To provide -- surrounding cast."

" There was latitude in pursuit for so long as there -- that doesn't happen often when he looked like me but this was a pretty. This -- a pretty serious -- that they had on I actually accused the tournament having glaucoma that is taken a look at the space you know. But think that radio is not is not a visual."

" Question about how a feel for Tom Finneran to be on the other side of the microphone."

" Well -- I know that's going to be a little bit different but I as I said I I I did it enough so that I knew I enjoyed it in the in the different opportunities that a -- over the years to act as a substitute host. And I do think I might bring a little bit of that a different perspectives in the ordinary talk show host because I have been on the other side of the aisle and I understand. Sometimes the difficulty the complexity and -- times the controversy in what people are trying to actually get done. Within within the constraints of public opinion in the the fevers that sometimes political decisions ignite so like -- I think I'll be at the handle it I'm looking forward to -- I'd sit in my -- my former colleagues they will absolutely positively always have a forum I'd love to be able to make sure that they have the type of platform that people need to present all of us. The is that the choices that are in front of us as a society -- as the commonwealth. And they'll never be gratuitously ambush I want to do that to anybody use of public life to make huge sacrifices that doesn't mean they're going to get kid gloves because I didn't get keep gloves -- you. If you if into the public arena you have to be prepared for some fairly aggressive questioning as to why you made a decision on a particular topic but other than that. Those folks up the at the very capable folks I'm filled with declaration that it talented that if the dedication."

" We're listening to a live press conference WR -- management announcing Tom Finneran. Being hired to do the morning show that'll start sometime it's --"

" Like to everybody don't get to be speaker of the house without being nice to everybody. He's being asked how he will treat people on the state house. As a talk radio where else. You know it I I think what what you really have is a brand new administration and obviously newly sworn in legislative so is so fresh in the season everybody is filled with enthusiasm and curiosity. And a little bit of anxiety a little bit of trepidation we have a budget situation it's going to be tricky. And so you know we hope to obviously have governor Patrick -- from time to time. His budget people as to what they really think is important for not just for the next 12 months the commonwealth but you have to really look at they will look at I'm confident. On 124 month -- a 60 month basis that's how really good governments and good governance happens speak it's amazing senate president travel any of fabulous legislative leaders and yet they'll be thrown into the mix into the scrum that we call politics here in Massachusetts oh to lobby has they said they'll all be welcome there will be no ambushes but we're we're very interested in providing two to the listening public. The information the battles that are going on up there aren't some of them -- policy and some of the Vermont politics that's always fun"

" took the commonwealth by -- I think he's a very very compelling personality obviously a history of success. At every level stunning in earliest grades of school and then going off put yourself in his shoes for a minute just for a minute. In 11000 miles away in Chicago. You have an opportunity of -- comes across an opportunity to send it to this extraordinary school out on the east coast but you're only what 1214 years old -- Is its death is also black going into what is an overwhelmingly white environment. And from that just from that he can take the measure of the person in terms of what what -- have made up. The stuff inside them and I think he's a very impressive guy and has the capacity to be fabulous governor and I do think he'll focus on the job I don't mean to be don't need to insinuate anything about governor Romney -- brothers but I do think he'll focus on the job for a full intense for years and just I'd say stay tuned for the right it's going to be great and they'll be some days when we were angry with him -- decision he makes he's are already acknowledged that. He wants to hold he he hopes to hold on to the enthusiasm in the hope we all feel -- even when he has to make tough decisions that disappoint us and when he disappoints us. You'll probably hear about that -- Iraqi radio we hope becomes on -- explains those decisions that we think he will."

" The question is will have Tom Finneran show focus on politics overwhelmingly for other issues as well."

" I expect he'll be a group much greater threat than just politics -- politics is an important thing it's something that I'm obviously very comfortable with them reasonably reasonably knowledgeable about and I like that. But I don't want to be I don't want to become a narrow personality myself and I do think what listeners on talk radio look at -- Is a whole range of things are there may be days where we. I don't think we'll be quite EEI but if there's something significant that's happened in the world the sports weathers the patriots of the Red Sox and like and of course without KO becoming the -- that the the radio broadcast station for the next tiniest for the Red Sox inevitably that's going to be out of it and that's a -- of being Boston being -- Massachusetts so expect a range of everything it will go well beyond will be on politics I'd be disappointed myself if it was. It was all politics all the time that's really not what I envision it would -- Jason envisioned for the show"

" I mean with Jason Julie's patience and cooperation -- probably two any number of training steps in the -- at a fairly comfortable with an already in some of it is just. That technical aspect of switching and breaking out to news traffic weather in the about the other services that decision about it."

" Tom Finneran asked about how they'll handle -- especially need training Scott's going to maintain its Capitol Hill some excellent sellers -- prospectus shows Tom. -- and it consummate professional I'd really appreciate everything he's done for some time he's been here. This couple of other opportunities of the stations within the company that he's under consideration for. And will continue to work with him on those things. Outside Boston the question was about Scott Allen miller current morning host here NW RKO just to start February 12."

" get by the super ball and we hope that it's has a local angle to of course but February 12 them -- I'm looking forward to in the meantime granola. Spent a lot of time with my little granddaughter over the of the little star of the show and to my wife continues to -- my -- to give -- migrant children."

" That also gives us a little bit more the window too. Generate production and imaging in a whole host of elements that'll be on the showed support them."

" So the start of the Finneran -- a month."

" Whether it's a happy time for me and I know Julian -- were enthusiastically about the sales team upstairs and that their rarity goes so stay -- and I hope you'll tune in on February 12 and stay with us that it is going to be quite a rat so Wimbledon thank you -- I don't thank you can"
