Audio

A word to parents: You may want to hold off on converting those empty bedrooms into offices and exercise spaces. High unemployment and changing social norms are guiding young - and not-so-young - adults to move back home, new census data shows. "It's almost becoming a normal step," said Joshua Coleman, a San Francisco Bay area psychologist who is a co-chairman of the Council on Contemporary Families. 7-21 Outrage of the Day-Cleaning up after yorself and dog
Audio

The city is handing out fewer tickets to pet owners who don’t clean up after their dogs as some miffed residents are revolting against the mess with warning signs to scofflaws amid increasing anger over doggie doo. “You step in it. It’s a mess. They are supposed to be fined, but they just don’t do anything about it,” said South Boston dad Bernhardt Ochse who bolted an official-looking sign onto a post near his house. Fed up with dog excrement on the sidewalk, he’s contemplated security cameras. The number of dog-fouling violations has dropped from a five-year high of 26 in 2008 to just nine last year, according to animal control. In the first five months of the year, the city issued six violations, each of which carries a $50 fine. Should dog owners be fined for not cleaning up the dog's mess?
