    The Hepatitis B vaccination in Minnesota (state law since 1993) doesn’t require parental consent and Hep B’s communicability is similar to HPV in that it is primarily transmitted through intercourse, as opposed to being an airborne illness. Currently, no records can be found of Michele Bachmann sponsoring legislation in the Minnesota legislature to repeal the Hep B vaccination or to add a parental opt-out. Guest host Avi Nelson asked if mandatory vaccinations are a conservative issue.

    During Monday night’s CNN-Tea Party Express presidential debate and in subsequent interviews Tuesday morning, Ms. Bachmann attacked Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) for his 2007 executive order that young girls be vaccinated against the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus that can lead to cervical cancer and other diseases. Mr. Perry was on the right side of science in his support of a vaccine that has proven, through rigorous testing, to be safe and effective. Guest host Avi Nelson wondered if vaccinations should be mandatory.
