    More fromHowie Carr

Occupy Boston's attempt to winterize their camp by erecting a snow tent hit a wall today when police and city inspectors denied permission to erect any new structures. Occupy member J. Eric Martin claimed the protesters were just trying to make their camp safer while the Boston Police declared their intention to confiscate any such winterizing equipment. 4. Sinkhole forming under the Big Dig Tunnel...Is the tunnel a bargain?

    Audio

    08/11/2011

A massive “sinkhole” at least 4 feet deep and up to 190 feet long has created a “void” under the Interstate 90 connector tunnel in the problem-plagued Big Dig, adding to a growing list of engineering failures that include a deadly ceiling collapse, dangerously unstable light fixtures and lethal railings, state transportation officials revealed yesterday. Transportation officials insist there is no risk of a new catastrophic collapse in the tunnel — the same one where Milena Del Valle was killed by a 3-ton slab of concrete five years ago — but some critics said they aren’t convinced. Is the tunnel a bargain?

    Audio

    07/18/2011

At least one man is dead and three others were injured in three separate water accidents that sent rescuers scrambling to save boaters and beachgoers in a span of about two hours along the state’s coast last night. One mariner died in Boston Harbor and another was feared dead in the waters off Marshfield in separate boating mishaps. Another man was rescued by State Police officers patrolling a beach in Quincy after he nearly drowned in shallow water, authorities said. The first man died when his 27-foot cq speedboat capsized and broke apart off Boston Light yesterday evening, seriously injuring his companion, US Coast Guard Lieutenant Joe Klinker said. Do you have any boating horror stories?
