Tim Thomas. the Conservative Lighting RodBoston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas refused to discuss his latest political statement posted to his Facebook page expressing his support of the Catholic church, though he did not indicate the reason behind the posting. He told reporters repeatedly he was "going to remain silent" about it and walked away from a press conference. Howie wondered would he be hasseled if he were a liberal.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and President Barack Obama appeared to get into a heated confrontation just after Obama's plane touched down in Arizona for a campaign event and it is believed to have happened because of what Brewer wrote in her new book about him. Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas skipped the White House invitation to honor the Bruins deciding to use a special moment for the organization, the team and its fans to voice his displeasure with the U.S. government. On his facebook page he wrote "I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People". Howie thought Tim did the right thing.
