-- -- We recently had the opportunity back in September. To visit another airport and then in October -- revisited that same airport when I was taking an international not an international flight but a flight to Hawaii. And I gotta tie -- the more I visit. Airports in other parts of the country the more I realize that Logan to Third World country is a terrible Carolina airport it's just at. Airliner into yeah China and Utley immediately mean they have renovated a lot of it in the last ten or fifteen and they have. That the best part about Logan is that they have got like little crabs and fish. Built into the tile floors to show you you -- -- pets and are not so they it has come a long way. It has come along way and we're joined now by Katie Johnston from the Boston Globe who wrote a story about what the director of Logan Airport Danny Thomas -- is doing to try to improve the airport appointed Harry you hello. I got a -- Katie I think Logan Airport is a lousy year. Well if you haven't been here on long. I know where you -- -- a lot where we're weary from Colorado he has got a -- -- -- and ultimately -- -- and a. And they just rebuilt you know they say they would be giving Colorado they had they had an airport that was right -- may be in the seventies or the eighties and yeah yeah and then they'd be like ten years after it had been it was that old. They they picked it up and and basically move the airport another what twenty miles out of the city. But it's this massive airport and Logan were stuck. Like in East Boston it's a tiny tiny airport trying to service one of the largest cities in the country. Exactly it's not -- Very well. But they like to aid that they are more people. And other airport in the country and there's no room to grow because there's water on and -- That -- and and went. Airline company on the. What they're seeing passenger growth but the problem is the airlines don't want to use this as a as a major stock bigger that are area is a major. Shuttles they they don't wanna have a lot of flights to Europe because those are big planes have a tough time getting a man in an analogue you talk to a pilot. They hate landing at Logan. We've got to have the short run. Eric you know to retrieve went out each -- and other big major airport there that the other. Generations and it they had to wait you know that -- -- -- haven't played in Japan airlines -- it. They're hoping will attract new. Airline because they can take off on urban. Believe that you'll keep one or fuel efficient they -- -- So what's what's the future of Logan Airport look like to -- and I I just don't see where. Is it -- out here's what happened when we elected Dallas right you're flying to Dallas. And the end and you get off your your first plane you'd jump on me and train him that today it's a it's up in the air and it takes you to your next airport where your next terminal it was so cool and and you can get anywhere from Dallas Texas. Where is Boston used to go to New York JFK new work. To take an international flight it to get that many nonstop flights analogue and so is are we just destined to continue to have an airport that's inferior. Well I'm not sure I'm qualified and the bad but they are working in more international play and they have identified terminal. As the place that has the most what stability and growth potential. So they're really working to. Trying to work -- like we got Tokyo last year -- about America next year they're looking at -- you know China and Italy. That they are working to get more well all -- You think of any success with say what you would twist your impression of the guy Glenn is the is any good. I mean there I very -- and care these nice competent but -- in Eric does. Yet you run a lot of it. Doesn't have -- aviation but at -- point out a lot of run. Yeah so when when will they start doing more these international flights from Florida we have to wait to see if that's that's the great right you can't get anywhere from -- you always have to go through London her. Yet he ate meat you eat you've taken a nonstop flight to a lot of places right. There were changed around in the effort I mean I don't know but that never and it -- meter or airport because it is limited in a lot of -- and -- -- For any airport in particular export -- -- I can but -- people don't connect. Because you know they take out -- it that it ever going to be a hot. Barry I -- airport and attacks coming in from a pilot. Yeah 978 he is an airline pilot Logan he said it is bad airport but not because of the runways they're bad. What makes logo that is the horrible worlds and terminals in the surrounding its -- -- it's it's that it was a bad place to put an airport they had the opportunity to move it out to Marlboro. And and they didn't do. You know -- what -- go into these other cities like the dallas' in the Houston's and all them and you've got to drive forty minutes out of your way you get off the flight. And then you get out you get around a car you can drive forty minutes to get to downtown areas are. I have to add up. Yes and it's really rare yeah that's right downtown. Is right that's because you girls live in the city I'm out in the suburbs I wouldn't mind who's in Barbara. In them all right well hey thank you Katie did a great job in the story thanks for joining us. So we are destined to have an inferior. But -- how to get a Logan and just get right off -- to -- and everywhere you downtown. Now the market -- let's me go to Atlanta he doesn't matter -- it's never gonna change we're always gonna have a -- aren't you wanna get off a long flight in the drive half an hour right every you have to go like that pretty much everywhere. I've then. At the Miami the Atlanta you up for a week with the -- fewer delays right. And EU you don't have the problems we have Logan Logan is notorious for missed flights. And missed connections and delayed flights are some of those airports when you land. The pilot literally taxis you for 45 minutes to get -- -- because of the airport is still. Alive knows I like I had a choice between the Dallas airport in Logan Airport -- -- Dallas all the law. The up next we're rejoined by Tom Burton there is massive this is gonna make you sick.
