Michael Patrick Leahy On Warren Tricky Donations

And he's got a great story appear about though this Warren's donors or -- she she raised sixteen. Million dollars. Or twelve million dollars for her campaign in the third quarter. And and an estimated sixteen million that she's raised in the last few months have come. On line via two web sites that do not have industry standard protections and are vulnerable to fraud and illegal foreign national donations -- Michael Patrick Leahy thanks for being with us here on the Howie -- show what. This and this is the this is the most. Money ever raised by a senate candidate in the United States has not. How it is a huge amount of money he's raised a total of 36 million dollars. Since she started her campaign and believe in the third quarter she just announced they have not yet seen the report. You know you've -- twelve million dollars in the third quarter but of the 36 million dollars since she's raised. Sixteen million dollars. Has come. On line from two web sites that do not have. Industry standard protections and are vulnerable to fraud. And illegal foreign donations. Well the you know she's she sometimes it appears to be a clone of President Obama and she's action and sometimes she appears to be a clone of her -- the you didn't build that statement as. I mean why wouldn't she take they take these same steps that he took in 2008. Write this the way he this is the way he raised all of his money -- a lot of his money in 2008 correct. Any currently racing at the same way that parallel to Obama's fundraising tactics is your. 42%. Of the money that she race. Came from on itemized donations to that donations under 200 dollars if you don't have to put the name and address. Of the person who makes donations. Also you -- remember the name -- I thought you had to put the name which you could put you know I was you know best app or any information. Report no inclination. But this satellite. She has a higher percentage coming from an itemized donations and President Obama 30% contrasts that. Most senators. Sort of Max out around 15% Scott -- around 15%. If you I looked at Nevada Missouri Montana Arizona and Nebraska. And in senators in those races. A race between 1% as a low Bob -- and 15%. As a high. Claire McCaskill from these on itemized under 200 dollar donations. So -- -- ran toward a half times she's raising two and a half times the percentage. Of the nearest Democrat. From the yeah. -- yeah -- all donations but the big problem if she does not have it either up or web site. Either -- Elizabeth Warren official campaign web site or she has this conduit. Based in Cambridge -- act blue. That raises money for her will be guilty they can do this. But both of them failed to have the very. Right and they don't have that and that's to -- the basic security standards to prevent fraud. With that this means is two things can happen. Foreign nationals study's lead donate. To the war -- campaign either the act blue conduit web site. Or directly through Warren's campaign web site or. Large donors to it may ask their donations. And they can be paid campaign contribution limits by -- and up by these credit cards. Putting money on -- and getting hurt donations of less than two dollars. So 200 is a limit that so story anything it's just sort -- it's one up to 199. Hours a. Up to 199 and now these you know its interest in the act and people who are her conduit. Yeah that many. Democratic candidates -- pretty sophisticated tracking system. To go to the act web site you can select to donate to Elizabeth Warren. And you know -- directed Warner. Any of a number of Democrats but they show in the FEC reports Federal Election Commission reports. It was donated on day one to act Lou and the -- three they've reported to the FBC but what they don't report. Is these sixteen billion dollars that came up through these unsecure. Web sites in amounts less -- two. So there's this -- for all practical purposes is my eyes won't be cash. -- well. Mean and why this is why we've had all these of the various permutations of campaign reform. Was so that the so the guys wouldn't be walking around on Capitol Hill on Beacon Hill. Picking up bags and satchel of cash but this this just undercuts that -- that it's the same thing. The curious question here is you know they've rewards campaign people in the act -- people based they're right there in Cambridge. Very Smart people. -- the idea and MA at MIT grad. And Harvard grad Benjamin Ron and -- deeper Dallas yeah and it's run by a west Wellesley grad because Smart people. They know how to raise money on law and they know how to put in these security system. Controls but they haven't done it. What why. -- when you -- don't have CV BC VBP if I go and I by a credit card era Oreo that -- certain gift card at a at a score. And by and with that doesn't have a CVB on it. Well it may or may not have a seem easy but the CBC. As sort of -- of the human element to this -- And also it's it's just another tracking element that can. Be -- kind of forensically to tracks fraud. But I'll tell you let's first say Scott Brown has the CBB control. He does salt but like I can guarantee you that Elizabeth Warren neither her -- How could you how could you guarantee this because I think the ultimate sacrifice -- Yeah I donated. One dollar. And do -- Warren campaign. Online at the BBB at the -- at the -- web site and there was knows CPB requirement. That web site but the cash out of my idea credit card account very quickly without. Asking who I was. Or. Wondering if I was of foreign donor. And then I I I even made a greater sacrifice to double test this yeah I went to be Elizabeth Warren web site. Out and they don't take donations. Of less than three dollars. So I have that double by investment -- what the I would splitting -- -- they -- six in the fifth delegate total four dollars. And Elizabeth Warren campaign Alley. And it's entirely warring -- web site doesn't have those controls either those CVB control I could've been. You know. A foreign national I could have been a Chinese Government official. You could have been 000 Wall Street. Hedge fund. -- better really bad guys. Really -- a terrible person you could have been an investment banker for Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. You know some of your listeners up in Canada there. Foreign nationals could probably test system and we're back to. Almighty god this Ed and so like -- -- when you go to was carries Bob -- site or Claire McCaskill cider did you go to Bill Nelson site -- just. No I didn't I think you know I didn't go to their sites to find out that -- yeah I simply went to the FBC report and they show you what percentage is an itemized. Fair number of -- it candidates. Don't have the CBC controls most of them it turns Kelly or -- -- sure that's shocking them right. I -- Democrats were for the we're trying to level the playing field for the for the working man and woman. And they they wanted to greater -- great greater regulations and controls on these on these running dog capitalists. Why -- it -- Ellie Elizabeth Warren you know made her reputation. Yeah -- anti -- advocate for. So anti threat that's right anti free yep because they the yet people will ripping off the little guy. Yeah up. That you -- ever campaign have you talked to the campaign about this. You know shockingly. -- Via messages and phone calls that I -- with. Act blue conduit for the warned him yes and the folks have to -- campaign shockingly. Those calls and emails were not returned when the phone didn't ring you know who spoke -- -- -- now of of course now I think now that they're listing fees that I may receive -- for dollar refund in the mail. But I wonder. We don't know. I don't know if there are any foreign nationals. Contributed to illegally to the -- campaign. And they don't know he'll do they don't know that's the more important things they don't write. And apparently apparently they don't care because if they cared they would incest. But there weren't there were some kind of safeguards that the people couldn't that foreign nationals couldn't contribute to this money or you couldn't go over the the campaign went right. They're Smart enough to do it I mean they certainly have a skill set to do it and it is a question why it happened states. -- implemented these very simple safety and security controls to prevent dollar fraud. Which this is you know -- -- more more hypocrisy on their part I mean the again -- This is this woman talks about how you know she she -- she -- she fights Wall Street she set up the consumer protection whatever it is fraud bureau to why it commit to make sure. But that nobody was getting ripped off and yet here you mean here -- they're sort of stealing the -- -- stealing the franchise I mean what can be what could be a bigger -- -- -- -- We're letting up people who -- who have no legal right to contribute contribute to try to walk fix an election an American election. Well you know what I look at -- in which is very intriguing look at the data look at the patterns. It you know if no other major candidate except for Elizabeth Warren and Barack Obama. Are are receiving more than fifteen or 20%. Of their donations in an itemized donations to question is why is that. What's going on. Is there reason to investigate I think that the only way that we can really find out. If there if none of these donations are coming from. Four dollars or power or being used to -- contribution limits is to have people's guilt ought to bring in you know price Waterhouse. Yes safely forensic audit of the Elizabeth Warren campaign. What she -- so you know -- -- -- financial audits. Big corporations I think it would be very -- That's right I. And again you know I I mean she she wants me it she's she says it's very important that everybody play by the same rules. -- transparent rules -- That's what -- -- forgot that at. Ms. -- I don't either the media the papers including the one I work for interest -- in the story about the her her alleged Indian great grandfather shooting the Indians actually shooting in the I can't make it. That was that was one of the best that was one of the funniest stories server I a long time I mean the guy couldn't believe that the guy -- the Indians drunken -- via. And now now and then you know I read this story on the Internet in the and I look up and look up and and Elizabeth Warren is telling the sad story on TV. About our parents had to elope. Because that that guy who shot the Indian office horse. Was actually an Indian himself. Despite despite the fact is identified in the newspaper and about the shooting. As a white man. -- I would really like to see if somebody from Boston Herald or yes Austin -- would ask the question. What -- safeguards do you have. That you can tell the people of Massachusetts about. That this sixteen million dollars. It doesn't come from sources that are illegal. Yeah.
