Joel Arends discusses the White House security leak

As you as you may know there's been a lot of geeks in the media press. -- to the press lately. And you know these these are the kind of leaks like Valerie -- but it's -- during the Bush Administration where the supposedly got out that the this woman who was the CIA agent for quote. Who was working in plants assist as the secretary. Trade missions that have ever -- -- at least. And that that was a big deal -- even though she was never in danger or anything like that. Now it turns out that the the Democrats the white house of course it was a big deal because the Republicans the White House Valerie Plame was there. But now it turns out that the -- White House has been leaking. Information to make Barack Obama. And and we keep basically to their or that there there were. In the -- media outlets like the New York Times. And they have compromised. American intelligence ever been charged and I think it's true that some that they have compromised American intelligence they they. They in fact even alluded. Out of American sources placing their wives and extreme danger overseas. And so we -- book by former world former military officers. Of have stepped forward and they've they they have their own -- white -- now. -- to try to war. Publicize. The the incredible life your responsibility. Of the Obama administration and in committee in in the when this leaking. This information just for purely political reasons and they -- Americans and -- and -- joining us now is Joseph Allen's. Most egregiously it was leaking the details of the bin Laden raid. In -- two months ago in May we took the president's -- with this we released an ad that called the spike the football at. I folks define an -- website veterans for strong Americans out of work where we took the White House to task for. For a leaking the information and look what happened doctor Shaquille afridi the informant who led. American coalition forces to find him a lot and is now spending 33 years. In a Pakistani jail as a result of this president -- White House. Wanting to release the details of the raid. In what we think was all for political gain. National what how -- there's one other thing there's another one that's had a strategic impact on the security of American American allies is releasing. The fact that the stocks that virus was targeted at Iran. -- because the White House let that info out with that resulted in is the Iranian authorities were then able to take there uranium enrichment computers offline. So they're able to counter. The cyber warfare attacks that were planning on them and it's all because this White House what it wants to do wants to look like the tough guy he wants to look like he's secure when it comes. Two American national security issues and you know it just shows you the links at this White House is willing to go to work for reelection. I think that's a you know as as a reporter I mean you know the job number one is to protect the source you know even when it's just like you know what someone's getting fired or something but when you're when somebody's life liberty is at stake. Mean you never would give up something like that. Never why absolutely look the lives of men and women the boots on the ground -- -- fighting these wars including the intelligence agents. That's who were looking out for here they can't speak for themselves. God bless the military we want them to be a political we need them to be apolitical but for those of us were former members. Are who are not on active duty anymore we can speak out so we've got to civic obligation we have a duty to speak out against this commander in chief. When he is doing the military wrong and that's why we're here today and that and that's why we're making these ads that we wanna educate. It's many Americans as possible what the dangerous impact is of his actions. The other of course you know I think I found that I very ironic that when this stuff for start coming out -- -- was Dianne Feinstein several courses coming out of -- White House. But did she got Cory Booker the country you know what she did she committed the cardinal sin in politics she told the truth. Right well not only that but you know who else told the truth John Kerry well former senator Bob theory who's a medal of honor recipient also -- -- -- you know former navy seal. He took the White House to task over this issue but you know what. What you brought up earlier how -- was the Valerie Plame issue where there obviously President Bush appointed a special counsel to investigate that matter that was fairly serious. But you know what this president before he was president appointed. Advocated for appointing a special counsel in the Jack Abramoff influence peddling case. That was an influence peddling cases it inside DC lobbying type deal you know one casinos exactly where is this president now. When we're talking about national security leaks that are gonna endanger lives why isn't he appointing a special counsel now and I think it's because he's afraid what it's gonna lead to. Lately of course they design. Well how much fun do you keep in mind that offensive -- you have that's the word I was trying to remember. He finds it offensive that people would say these things like Dianne Feinstein. That the chairman of the the committee we think it's offensive that this guy doesn't want to investigate the leaks that's what's really offensive here. One is there ever been the case in American history I mean and again I. You know to me Valerie Plame is not that serious of an issue was never in any Walter you know what the not a Covert agent at the time. -- it's not a Covert agent she was bureaucratic that time on intelligence system. And while it. While that issue was serious. It is not her life was not being the author Axel line not -- One -- -- -- in France right from the phrase that you lose she she was the issue was stationed at the CIA or -- -- Langley at a time. 18774694322. If you wanna talk to -- currencies former -- Infantry men in the army and easily that -- part of this group that's complaining now now there are also accusing you -- Republican plants. You beings that you were swift boaters of you -- the swift boaters of 2012. I I you know what I have to say so why. Bring it on. This if that's the price we have to pay number one for telling the truth for being a veteran and telling the truth. Number two we're willing to take the body blows were willing to take the shots for the men and women in uniform can't speak for themselves. They wanna call us with voters go right on it yet what we're gonna keep -- look they're punching us in the face right now you know what were put the brass knuckles on we're gonna punch right back. Obama the Obama campaign. Put us on his enemies list. My name right now. And we were on the president's enemies list and the reason we ours because we're landing. We're landing nose body blows against his campaign. They know what they know we're on to something and we're not gonna stop for -- steam roll this thing through. -- the Republicans putting up the money that is to draw around the country now we're not you were getting money from ordinary grassroots voters. Who support our effort that's where we get from raising money on the Internet people wanna see if you look. I know it's hard for people to believe but there are a heck of a lot of Americans out there who support this effort. And the fact of the matter is we've tapped into the same thing that Barack Obama tapped into 2008. A lot of donors and a lot of people out there -- wanna see this who who see that this guy is using the military for political game and we're gonna do something about it. You mentioned. Say FDR. In World War II. It'll be -- that you know she's in the midst of us reelection campaign against Tom Dewey you leaks to the fact. We've got a big men had something called the Manhattan Project going on and north. You know what we're reelected we'll we'll we'll. Bob Japan with the atom -- I just had a conversation with a with -- another outlet here Dave Wright says that Barack Obama ought to take a page out of fifty yards playbook. He needs to get tough when it comes to national security issues. I don't think anybody can argue that FDR was incredibly tough when he came to national security issues. There were eight -- up two hours and landed in the United States at that time they were executed within sixty days. This is a president who. Number one wanted to shut down yet now he couldn't do it because he knew it was a bad idea the number two he wanted to bring terrorist into the United States and Dick. The bedroom -- court in New York City and he wanted to give them all the same rights that you and I would have its American citizens if we ended up in federal criminal court. -- -- Who prosecutes terrorist it federal criminal court. They are enemy combatants and they should be prosecuted in tribunals and thankfully that that process is played out so far. Seriously disagrees. But they've been leaking military. Serious serious military. And intelligence secrets and endangering the lives of Americans and our allies overseas. There are total job out there are serving right now and we know how many rounds it takes to conduct a proper types of training on the range is every year and all of that. It doesn't take it doesn't take ten million rounds or whatever it is that's been purchased. And it it it it starts to make people wonder and I think we need to start asking some questions. You know but the thing is you're not gonna get any answers out of this administration. Think they've -- you know what this administration. Who has walked by the ways constitutional law professor apparently it walked he walked in the federal court his campaign made the claim. That there is no legitimate. Justification. For allowing reasonable voting accommodations for men and women who are in the military. Who is the commander in chief after serving as commander in chief for three and a half years. Says that he he cannot discern any legitimate justification for letting these people I have a few extra days to vote. Yet yet when these states want to have. Want to make sure there's no voter fraud going on by producing identification at polling places takes the that they go into court again. Yeah absolutely and what they're hypocritical. The administration's completely hypocritical -- -- that went into work several times in Ohio over other issues and they failed to do so. It's only one that writes of servicemen and women are at issue in -- stayed in Ohio you know where there's maybe a less than 1% between the candidates right now that they. They get active over. I think that a -- with military votes in Florida in 2000 that -- well you know there was a Democrat down here Democrat lawyer who was circulating a memo at that time. That detailed out specifically how other. Democrat of Democrat lawyers could. Invalidate. Military votes who want. These men and women are fighting for us places like well used to be Iraq and now Afghans still Afghanistan. And that they're out there on fighting on the frontlines. And dad who who wants to invalidate their vote and register as a personal side note 2004. I got my ballot after the election. When I was serving in Iraq. I guess the only reason I was able to vote though and that election is. My my second child was born and I was able to go home and vote couple days before the election but it wouldn't have been -- that. I would have been able to vote when they did you go to. South Dakota I voted for I helped to make. If those Tom Daschle from the US senate -- count given our next senator.
