And being everything you know quite that we know. And -- you know like just began Ewing is in who have only been married for a few years and I haven't had an opportunity. To start their lives and you up for the second time in a year in an emergency room we husband is being treated after being attacked by these contacts. Why is actually it's about a year ago that. I got that call from work you know that called every you know like threat they get -- the day. -- you have -- hot at all. And the -- on the phone is really very -- -- -- -- get -- you know he he's stuck them bumps and bruises but he needed Dowling. I think he would like you know that they're to pretty much the volume to drive to the hospital belt you don't know what you're gonna expecting to get there. The call at first I have to say are beautiful writer. Because you can't people up to date with the with -- condition any and you wrote this line in ink isn't shatters every time. The first three days and I see you of the longest days of my life I had to watch me. Gag and choke at his lungs were drained and watch him fight fevers. I -- -- hooked into wires and machines into its -- days I could land fall asleep because when he fell asleep he stopped breathing I cannot imagine. How harrowing that was the year. Yeah I was in the very long time he definitely feel very public because you know the person you love is just lying there. Very frail fighting for their -- then there's really nothing you can do you wouldn't I love writing that was kind of my. Outlet I -- -- you know to kind of watching trying to compliment that they cut by any means he was fighting for it like it's some degree you know we couldn't let him get -- back -- and you know when he obviously went through so much snow is it definitely feel helpless in the moment. Now you also described in and it was a beautiful moment for you when you really thought it was touch and go for awhile you know doctors are telling you hey it he could have been paralyzed. He still don't know if he's actually gonna pull through this and survive he is these -- injuries -- so unpredictable. In the one part of the story that people have to know they have to now you have to look at the picture to understand. How brave. And astonishing this act was. After he had this -- Put through it was neck. He tried to help the female on the ground he he got up and staggered over there with the -- still in his neck. I spoke to one of his coworkers Nicole and they said that they never seen anything like that. In -- Tire very long career in the department of correction. Yeah I heat and still proud of him demean the way that he did that and lose it -- it shows and I think we got it said that when he was on in your show before it shows. What kind of people. Unity pact not the things really aren't even that support. That we received from everything of one of you know in baby get beat stood by at the entire apparently were never in that the -- And that could be happy to have it back there it's like at the end of brother. And you know my husband would've done anything he could help them Latino officers he did but she could you. You know that the office there who. Who got back cracking a -- he did what he could be that they could be happy to take back and it. It really the beautiful thing if the I had knowing yet get back monarch lottery that -- -- it's just it's kind of humbling and overwhelming defeat that. And in that -- -- continues because you would never alone for one minute excuse out of his -- -- icu where you. There -- a correction officers lieutenant governor Tim -- you get to see Deval Patrick act as soon as the ball -- so I -- Okay well he called it called Nate and I lieutenant governor Tim -- stop by and has been an endless stream of his fellow officer is supporting him because believe vehicle and my phone blows up all day along with updates about your husband's condition. They're all concerned about and they all want a -- of these taking care of so what is life like now because. These days in the icu it was touching go you know you couldn't let -- fall asleep which means you couldn't -- -- of fear that he wouldn't wake up. And I can't wrap my mind around. How nerve wracking part renting them -- demand. But take us through the days that follow because there's still some questions there mean finance at about -- condition. -- -- -- -- Let's get at least to come home that was huge for both about. Video like this kind of get to a federal you know we're more gave normalcy. At this plea he dies they'll have not -- on his left side pretty much everything will go into wasted very -- mostly left leg. Obviously were hoping and praying that. We'll go away. He's alive any me jaded outlook on that his -- that he's been given a second chance. And put -- planes yep see we hope and pray that that will go away and that's something we're fighting foreign doctors they're trying to figure out what's wrong but. At this point we get so thankful that he's the likely that that's kind of like our main focus straight now -- yet everyday I had a beautiful thing and now we'll take -- -- -- it -- Now you talked about the miracle of the day that your husband reached out to you from his bed and you knew I mean he can't talk. He has a trade. And -- throw it he's barely breathing but he reached his arm out and pulled to close to him. That's where I'm tearing up now that I've read that from you so many times you and knives and outspoken. More than a few times and every time I think of that image of every how you must've felt when you reached -- -- -- talk to me about that day. You -- do you think huge moment for me because -- the -- back when I he I would like you waiting room waiting to find out what you know with the outlook liked. You know that was one -- -- -- going to remind -- -- taken it has for granted it and how much it would give given to how one more -- I wasn't sure I'd ever have one again. And even -- feeling like. You know the -- did he prepared to support me but he was the one -- then you know it was most dramatic moment of my life is and I wanted him more than anything -- I wanted him to come to the door -- Has me hold me help me everything was going to be okay and he -- the one person couldn't have they'll probably leaders and like you were -- I feel. You know he did how about his arm that you kind of get snuggling up little -- -- -- -- -- -- -- in -- -- and I think -- everything was gonna be -- you know -- it's huge because. I thought I might never have a hug from him again. Now what you credit so many things with your husband's recovery it is America on higher -- to take elect wrko.com. On the summit V dot com are up on my FaceBook page Mitchell went out and CP TE. It is a -- Eric role that he survived now use the extra for the first time one. So when you -- the X -- I mean you must've wanted defeat. I did that my first reaction then went on depleted finally got the craziest thing I've ever seen and then they kind of -- open the emotional side kick again. And Whitney and I -- -- -- kind of speed threat. Egypt had that he would that quote and that it would definitely I was getting a little bit emotional and the -- docket this. Looking at that I and I knew how close they -- but the DA expert can. It did it took my breath away. And in the questions that is being asked Ray Allen apple and logic checks on its X 8680 is. You know well we have Brian Janzen was the president of the Massachusetts correction officers federated union teacher. He -- husbands union president and he was talking about one of the dissatisfaction. About this case other than the idea the husband. Is usually. One of two prison guards -- correction officers in the entire wing and talking about the most dangerous cons. In Massachusetts have been moved. From -- and are now in general pop housing unit that. Yeah husband and maybe one other this correction officer is in charge of ninety inmates on a daily basis. Yeah that that's what I heard -- while on an eye on it beat may have been isn't talking much about. You know we kind of -- that protect me I guess you could say from the -- I heard that -- -- and you know he might have been been really good all along just kind of you know -- fill -- -- on -- -- -- expect. He can't get into the details. Are just probably a good idea at all you -- -- hero of the day you don't hear about the guy running around in taxpayer funded bra. No now which -- which is absolutely true. I am concerned that some of the other CEOs have raised on the show is that I early bills being covered is the insurance. -- it was. Honestly dates you in the thank you look. Between worrying about me one of the first things they came to my mind right I am I about the -- -- the -- look right away thought how injured he liked. I'm gonna go back to act of what you want but at that poorly I thought I'm gonna be out of work for three months if not longer but he's -- Recovered very well -- -- I have been out of work. First few weeks back you know the union came through practically help us with our mortgage we have so many GOP the support they've given -- financially. It it it it boggles my mind that they found out that I got what I was worried about that right I was worried about the bill you know with needing act where. And Andy just came through that we hear and I. We -- not worried about that we don't worry about me -- -- there and gotten to it was to the weight lifted off -- might have to -- worried about April 1 morning and that was about it that he -- And the union and everybody came together and they do that and get our our financial worries though we were -- Kara. And you don't love about messages as a -- like I can spend most of my days four out of the day on an atomic -- are complaining about. All of the shenanigans in -- stayed in the ways in which were being ripped off but haven't Massachusetts especially when it comes to. Civil service to add any ZoneAlarm policeman officer any sort of by his service. Any firefighters. They have something that we have unique in Massachusetts called the time. Where they have a time or a fund raiser for someone in in New Albany times I've been invited to a party that -- A lot I mean during and they gonna be all over the place and and that's the beautiful thing that people don't realize -- husband doesn't. Probably I would argue one of the most thankless jobs in the entire state. But when push comes to show the he had there the camaraderie and among his fellow correctional officers in casino lot of other professions. -- definitely I mean you. You hear on the news all the time about the bad in the -- Nancy you can't help I think other good people still out there and and we -- people have proven they have the they have that's huge heart you know. The phone calls -- financial support. I mean I I every step -- bike actually talk that there is why let's never nanny Tommy nor praying for you would you need any gains -- people who. We don't even know who mowed our front line with a neighbor happened to -- -- an -- -- and you know would be there all we haven't been -- for anything like anything that we choppered back and we can't take care of that. We -- we worried about -- -- for -- -- it and someone came and get it without even asking and it just -- -- -- for each other and it did the beautiful thing. It did that it's humbling and it's the calendars for me it has been allowed to do better without that make sure with their other people. I'll tell you this your husband did send me. A nice message talking about how you of the greatest thing that's ever happened to him. That I can see why Nicole because he he does treasury has relationship but the air and he was so grateful. I mean you know the times that you want and to be able to keep holding clothes by hand. He was very grateful that you would buy side -- decide during this entire experience. It's been a few weeks it might have been they talk about an -- and I don't wanna have bog you down with these thoughts belly Devern Hansack about the idea. That has been several weeks in -- been charged. And this in this awful attack so we're gonna we're gonna pick up that discussion. But is there a message that need has for everybody out there that is pulling for hand in. And all the correction officers that it could open to do. Is provoke some change and meet me needy the Deval Patrick administration's gonna say okay we don't care we intimidate the convicts. When you know let our offices where stab -- so I take other. Actions in order to protect themselves and level and that just by talking about this in Cuba and see how close her husband came to death. In the facility by the way at MCI surely that it means -- two murdered correctional officers. It's the season -- out ski correctional center because Susan -- house you were killed by a murderer who attempted to escape. Yeah and and definitely. In like if it has anything that we could faded as he goes is you know we're praying very damning do you have dangerous -- they just think what dot. And you know that there are people out there who do you EU are thankful for what you do you. It's definitely opened up a lot of -- the week we can't put into rightly thinking team. So all my from the bottom of our -- we are still thankful for the support and a lot that we've received and definitely very you know they're my -- right now without you know quick on the -- you know trying to recover but there. Anyway I can't move technical holes so I mean I think it's going to be good lad he's recovering we're glad he's around but people have to remember this is. A near death experience. And technical thinking so much the giants have been. And will keep people up to date on what's going on with Nate. And even star the -- there folks as Nicole. Inmate and well day -- this X ray -- bloody night. And look at the secretary at the very moment is 87 doctors -- heard Nicole say I almost fainted at that moment I another. Prison guard was stabbed in mad. That happened the Worcester county jail -- Jerry -- and tell us all about that just a few minutes. On the show on the feet into how we try on how our show.
