Bob Dane of FAIR (Federation Of American Immigration Reform) joined us to discuss the Supreme Court decision today which rejected a constitutional challenge to a central provision of Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law, clearing the path for similar legislation to take effect in other states. The provision, requiring police to conduct immigration checks on individuals they arrest or merely stop for questioning whom they suspect are in the U.S. illegally, does not appear to violate the Constitution by intruding on the federal government’s powers to control immigration, the court said. Bob and Hiowie discussed if this were enough to protect our borders...

Joining us now is is Bob -- from the federation for emigrate for American immigration reform I wanna give his take on what happened today if you -- you just get off work we haven't been -- listening to any media reports. But the Supreme Court bill liberty mixed verdict today on the Arizona immigration law the they they upheld the State's right to -- seek. Did seek the immigration status -- law enforcement try to seek the immigration status out of people for whom they have probable cause to suspect are illegal aliens -- -- -- three other things including -- making it a crime to employ an illegal alien a be warrantless searches. For a press suspected illegal aliens and also -- recording illegal aliens to carry documents. But you know the problem has that they they upheld this one. This one provision the most the most publicized provision. But the but that -- in the -- -- apparently just announced that the home Department of Homeland Security -- my point to cooperate. With in the Arizona law enforcement that that. Deal with that but asked for information as soon as the Supreme Court said they went. Bob Bob what's your Bob -- from the Federation for American Immigration Reform fair which your -- take on this. Had a breathtaking -- -- look at breaking news -- you know even even as we speak here but. In terms of the Arizona. Ruling this morning it is not doing captains with -- mixed bag -- it -- look -- Obama says he's pleased about the ruling you know there's a few flaws anyways right. Don't want section the big section that allowed to Arizona to require that they're cops. Inquire about immigration status stood. Now that's good because it fuels. It it will fuel more state action and it provides more moment to the idea that the states are not totally excluded from participating in immigration enforcement it will awaited federal preemption argument that. You know it's -- result more states replicating portions of that -- -- bill that's good and you know you combine that with mandatory stadium BE verify which is also good to go states are gonna have some very useful tools will report. I mean it's you know me as long as Obama's president well I mean it wouldn't Apollo model announces that the the market cooperate I mean when the phone don't ring you'll -- you'll know what's the Department of Homeland Security getting -- -- -- -- you know. This guy this Chrysler last week he slaps the face of congress on the you know why aren't -- giving the basically amnesty to 800000. Probably a lot more illegal aliens. Now now today he's just he's his administration to slap on the face of the Supreme Court. It it's unbelievable it's it's a little bit like like I don't know he it customs and Border Patrol agent at the border checking cars on the way in and -- -- -- they get sued for doing it. The Supreme Court says. You guys can continue checking for drugs but guess what we've got a we just made all drugs in the United States illegals will you just -- you just spinning your wheels so to some extent. What Arizona got today if it doesn't do much good to inquire about immigration status -- -- doesn't comments in the paddy wagon let's you know the president has been systematically dismantling interior enforcement for three and happy years last week. Right I guess it was Friday he declared unilaterally that the United States of America as a whole new amnesty plan without consulting congress. Right after he -- -- -- said six months ago but he couldn't go it because congress it was up to congress now he's decided that the ball did not know it's not the congress it's up to happen. Well of course they have he's he's the -- he's the imperial spectator on this then we get a Supreme Court decision today. And then 22 and half hours later. -- strips away it would work called 287 G agreements which simply put allow local law enforcement to properly enforce immigration laws. So he's basically nullified any game at Arizona just got -- what -- Supreme Court decision by declaring that. You know if you call us what illegal aliens that you inquired about discovered that we don't want to call. I don't get and then you know I just pulled locally Bob Dane from Federation for American Immigration Reform the governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick as you know he's a surrogate on the campaign trail for Obama. He says all this is going all we're doing is creating a climate of fear in the illegal alien community what you know what I mean we have surveillance cameras in banks in red dye -- it creates a climate of fear in the bank -- community right we have speed traps to create a climate of fear in the speeding community. -- what is wrong with creating a climate of fear among people or doing something illegal. Well I think it could express that a little differently than just climate here about the disappearance and all of the law of cause some degree of punishment involved with the reinstatement. Of the rule of law and I say reinstatement because what we have. We've got a couple all out nuclear meltdown. All of every vestige to any. Remaining vestige of immigration enforcement in the United States and the only solution right now and it's got to be immediate. Particularly after the antics we've seen on Friday and today is congress has got to step up and reassert their right to regulate immigration enforcement. And take away the power from the executive branch and put it back where it is he belongs in the legislature. Right and and I saw I saw a headline on Drudge Harry Reid is still -- -- talk about it hypocrite this is a guy who was introduced our legislation back in the ninety's as he when he was in the senate too wide too to strip illegal aliens rights to get welfare benefits now. Now the now he just realizes he needs a illegal alien vote to continue to be majority leader. And IE he's worried that a law -- actually going to be enforced. Hollywood where weren't real trouble here I mean what we were gonna we're try to consult crazy trying to keep up with the nonstop which he said these and all of the deplorable politics being played with immigration right now it is election year. Immigration policy wants to its steroid but the bottom line. Is that not only are bombarded simple candidates out of touch in different ways on this issue but congress is asleep at the switch -- we don't know what Americans -- We don't need amnesty we don't need more illegal immigration and we don't need to be pander their lied to and we don't need the president usurping his authority we need to secure border mandatory. And you know what -- It's that brain surgery we're gonna respond to a candidate that says he's committed to enforcing the laws. And not trying to pander to some special interest group group they you know look at the camera say that -- that watcher poll numbers skyrocket. Yup and 61 side were on the up -- like mortgage. Text line 68680. How we breaking news Romney won't be much different than Obama on illegals that's from radio Greg I'm afraid I'm afraid he's right buddy media couldn't he couldn't possibly be worse. Romney sure didn't sure had a very -- -- warm response to the presidents. Imperial edict last year usurping the congressional authority lets you know it's even during the debate we saw Romney kind of keep in the the world -- -- -- and they're -- lines about who gets to stay and who gets to go. Yeah now it's is somewhat disappointing and you you don't want them and then Rupert Murdoch tweets that well what's she doing other than attacking immigrants I mean I he's getting attacked from both sides here or not. On this but again but again they I just. You don't need to be attacked on each side if you can -- eat it if you -- out. In principle position instead the calibrated statement trying to appeal the one group -- the other. You know -- -- it's very difficult I know it's probably impossible to serve every every constituency in the guaranteed failure to try to maybe the person in these candidates need to figure out before they articulated immigration position is. Oh -- here to serve. Oh -- that you and I. Well I I know they you know there's also was something about the law you know and I know Obama doesn't have a law license anymore news wife but -- did theoretically go to law school when -- did theoretically it was an instructor at the university Chicago law school but you don't need to be a lawyer go to law school but understand that -- -- -- on the blocks. It's supposed to be enforced if you don't -- would -- you take it off the blocks like the prohibition law. Expect that the yes. Well this isn't it may be the best skill they have to dismantle the rule of law is thorough understanding of it. It's it's. It's it's amazing that -- upon what issued this statement this quickly I mean he's just so. If it's breath take Q magical Republican. Yet you know one president does having something a decision like this score against them. And then like an hour away -- Richard Nixon having a decision or against him and then. Than an hour later firing the special prosecutor GI I remember what happened men that didn't work out too well for Richard Nixon. There was a Dorsey you know what there was outrage I wonder if -- gonna be outrage in the same people were outraged by the Saturday night massacre all of those years ago. Probably not. Well what do we didn't have to be here to begin with because I have. At the Obama administration's been using its federal authority to enforce the laws instead of ignoring them spending agents instead of lawyers to Arizona. You know the job would have been it would it would would have been done and in Arizona wouldn't help urgency you know to enact. If legislation that sold and filled the void but this this case it was all of getting all about the unwillingness to enforce immigration laws and -- -- willingness. To let anyone else don't we won't you can't. You're you're right I mean this is you you know I mean I understand the the rationale behind the Supreme Court decision saying that you know these laws are already on the books on the federal level so you can't let a state -- can't -- preclude the federal law but the fact you're right the fact is that they're not they're not enforcing. But law. Soul so what do what was the state of Arizona. And all the other states in the -- -- every state now -- a border state. What were they supposed to do just what this simply let us immigration -- -- one -- then -- this the bee's crime waves that have resulted continue. Well first for Arizona it was it it was never not an option it was an absolute mandate because they've been suffering the cost of the impact they've got. The fairly small state population but yet again -- got a half million illegal aliens and to expect. How -- taxpayers and Arizona -- to enhance billion dollars a year. In bed this subsidize subsidies for illegal immigration health care education and incarceration. Yeah we're talking and -- do Republican Bob -- from -- Federation for American Immigration Reform people wanna go to your website Bob what is it fair US dollar -- Fear US dollar or let's say you wanted to a couple of calls here. Robert your next with how we card Bob -- from the Federation for American Immigration Reform go ahead Robert. Yes so Bob. And I think this could possibly be a teachable moment for the Republicans and for those people are running for office the president made this statement that. There was no difference in coming through also and we're coming across the Rio Grande. So those who came to -- so -- had to be opened Davos forum through their the -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Don't forget leprosy. Well and evidently -- could be added that the Republicans should be steady appropriates the world telling the public. Took a shoulder it's the the Hispanic voters regularly. They don't want their kids are exposed there's gel together. And don't spend a pretzel yourself this. Is old wounds are superficial argument like this is formed here. I think it's about the spin the you know the pandered to Hispanic by -- by way of immigration. What -- if -- -- Obama thinks that what he is doing is appealing to Hispanics. And -- juices voting base I. I can only think of one instance in which that might even remotely be possible and that is. To the extent that Hispanic American. Voting citizens who came here the right way. Are willing to reward to this president for rewarding people brought the law. And I don't think -- well I mean it's a slap in the face to somebody spent five years waiting in line to get here and it's fundamentally unfair it's the political miscalculation. With Hispanics. And it -- political suicide with -- everyone else. Yeah I mean to other people are still living in these Third World hell halls of -- you know got their papers and to the US embassy and you know they're just watching this this is this what what's unfolding here. I think what my crazy. I've tried to do it legally that's that's. You got a pitch -- to do it legally anymore. Now -- it is it is probably one of the worst corrupting influences on immigration it. Using it as a -- political instrument that the pander to a particular broad group for political gain it's again I keep saying -- -- immigration policies designed to server broad national interest. Not the needs of the political party -- You know if we can't get that right right now when we have high unemployment got god help us in the future when the economy of -- rebounds. Yeah I I know and the the the other thing too is if you again this is a lesson from probation I mean if you don't enforce if you don't have force one -- laws. Then people begin to lose that don't don't think that that there was respect. All laws you know all all the laws that he would win and and when one rope isn't -- it 11 group is held above another group. I mean that's another thing here -- I -- -- -- you know I was say Bob you know don't treat. Don't give me any special treatment just treat me like an illegal aliens I mean I I believe that I really -- But now that. If that is they harsh -- -- -- is that it dead as a harsh reality because the net effect. A all of this dismantling and thumbing of the -- the the congressional intent and rolling over the rule of law has been to create public narrative. It is fueled by the media and that is. I've been a conventional wisdom and possibly violated immigration laws and and of itself as I like -- walking it's inconsequential. Law enforcement is ignoring it. Right but they were living in the shadows. Be -- let's -- -- -- to Bob -- from the Federation for American Immigration Reform -- and heard news there was -- split the split decision quote unquote on on the Arizona. Crackdown on illegal aliens but the it's been written to be a positive part of the decision has been rendered moved to -- issue could say this afternoon by yeah. I Janet met Paul Apollo upon goals that announcement that that the the federal authorities under her. Controlled ice. Are not gonna respond to in the inquiries from the Arizona law enforcement about the status of of these illegal aliens that are that are arrested in an and that and it and help. And constitutionally. The Supreme Court said -- your next with how we cargo ahead gem. -- -- -- -- what we know the Chicago. Crew that they play ball on the that's our first show it and where we you know people -- and frankly they would do. You know this is just let it operate people are still surprised by the. I guess I guess what surprises me is that they -- they moved so fast -- -- -- kind of leads me to believe that they had -- again had a heads up on this but -- all of this is the way it was coming down so they were up there were prepared to act first -- well first with the did de facto amnesty and and today with on the -- upon those statements. Yeah look I mean we knew we -- the administration knew it wasn't isn't hasn't been and interest in enforcing the laws nationally they wouldn't tolerate it locally. And have been systematically dismantling most of the interior enforcement behind the scenes but. We figured this would be a continued cold -- they'll -- operation out of our public view but publicized in the special interest. It is surprising. For some of those here it's fair -- -- on this issue for thirty years. Just the the Braves an apocalyptic. Manner in in which he's behaving both Friday and and and today I mean. What are we gonna have tomorrow. -- you know. These guys this is this is the opposite -- and people responded to that but this first group in the White House today is different than any other group that's spandex. And you just got to appreciate that. Probably just gonna ask you one thing I sure about the Hispanic community because I figure. You know they've got outlawed a lot of polling that shows that. It's clinics are are voting blocs to you know it does support the race that that's more important than anything and they just got to leverage most lenient on immigration. You know it could be but if -- on all of the polls that are gone out inspector Richard student immigration obviously the most polls show that -- ranks about fourth circuit after education jobs healthcare deficit spending. What's your the other thing illegal immigration usually impact those Hispanic community's first because the -- we're illegal aliens from south of the border often settle. In established Hispanic communities mode than those communities are there. Game and import school. Right and there and they're also the of the trades men who will who came over themselves as illegal aliens perhaps or rise as least as an educated workers -- set up but trades. They're the ones who get undercut by the by the illegal aliens moving it and play you know you know and that they've they've been studied it even the LA times has written about that. -- -- -- The scary thing and Hispanic population is is expected to doubled it to about 30% of US population and in several years so. If Latino continue to vote overwhelmingly for Democrats the Republican Party disappears but if Democrats keep expanding the heavily government immigrant base. And and keep expanding the size of the government to keep up with the entitlement demand and activity country left for it for Republicans or Democrats. Via -- and oh yeah just it's just a minute. If that's the cycles back to that the first thing that the broad bought the broad national interest what are the consequences of immigration. Not toward November but twenty years from now what's in her best interest. Jay you're next with how we card Bob -- from Federation for American Immigration Reform going project. They've -- and -- they are two things number one. -- these Hispanic population has a monolith because Puerto Ricans are US citizens are there Hispanic. In Cuban Americans. -- -- -- that the -- you know they get are addicted and free card. And I can't imagine that they were before this would torture opinion on that. Buy it in my opinion is that for both parties looked rejecting amnesty in -- so doing you're respecting the decisions of Hispanics -- everyone else who chooses to come to America. To become Americans by doing it legally respect -- don't pander to them we can all understand the transparency behind us here. An effective second point is could the citizens of Arizona could -- legal background. Two would be Hitler reasonable expectation -- Pope spoke pursuing a he says violation of civil rights. That the Justice Department has a system where. Mean to bite them in the wrong in their own no value. Could be but I think I think PC LU in the other open borders groups are gonna beat him to the punch him in there already gearing up to file lawsuits to reach challenged the provisions upheld today because the if there they claim their encouraging. Profiling. It's it's like. You know what's it's like the decision on not letting corporations selected tribute as much as they want I mean that was just in the in best in front of the Supreme Court two years ago now be put they brought it back up again and they lost again. But they're just gonna keep their there's no there's no permanent decisions for the left. It's just we keep we keep litigating until we win. And then and then it becomes that's -- land that you can't touch it you know that's the way it as I couldn't believe that they weren't there or rolling on not to corporate contributions again. They've got that bug -- the makeup of the Supreme Court has even changed into year in in two years I mean from liberal conservative. And and they they still brought it up again. It's at the -- to report. That's the most important reason to vote for Romney. There's a Supreme Court because we go of all people on there. Yeah I know I know you do that at Bob thanks -- be -- web as we appreciate give us your email give us your email address again for your organization.
