Avi Nelson - Obama's Immigration Policy Reform
Sat, 16 Jun 2012|
The Obama administration will stop deporting young illegal immigrants who come to the United States as children, a move that President Obama said was "the right thing to do" on immigration policy and one likely to push the battle for Latino voters to the forefront of the presidential campaign. The announcement was touted by the president and his allies as a major step toward a more humane deportation policy. It will take effect immediately. Avi argues against the presidents decision and takes a few heated calls on the topic.

Interesting tidbit that I heard all watching a television news program. You hear complaints now from the Democrats about money being poured in my. Wealthy Republican contributors. In 2004. George Soros. Contributed over twenty million dollars to democratic groups for as against George Porsche. This comes from can't tar. Mean they can't turn media they ever they can shell group there called the campaign media analysis group GM AJ. Twenty million dollar should keep that in mind the next time somebody complains about. Money coming in from the right. And this tidbit before we get to -- immigration. -- -- -- If she's one of the ones in the view I -- watch that program later Roloson -- a clip from an emerges onto the owners. Or one of the uglier women are on television. She was attacking. Mitt Romney for disagreeing with president Obama's call to hire more firemen and other public sector workers. It -- should she would like to. -- she wonders homes catch -- to quote. I'd like to see his house burned wood in these millions of -- is burning down. Who she going to call the warmer and fire patrol. Unquote. Now notice. The ugliness of that statement Paul put into one millions of -- right. What I'd like this she is house burned down. And bringing in the religion to. I don't know her religion. Approach where you'll like it means they are some really brought that into it. Now imagine if somebody. On the right she of course is ultra left petroleum right -- says something about Barack Obama's house burning down. All. You could hear the complaint she couldn't ricocheting. Across the continent. If you were how -- complain and talk about racism and and evil. But people on the left -- seed Justine she to have any kind of hesitation and there are no repercussions -- I gather. For the comment that was made. But still. It's nice to. To identify. The ugliness. Vulgarity of the of some of the people on the left. Immigration. The president. Has decided that. It's okay for people who. Were. In this country through no fault of their own this is a constant refrain people who brought years of his children. That they should be able to stay with which curious about this well at least give a little bit of the -- -- where she's been the leading news story. It's an executive order issued by the president. It'll play any illegal immigrants who came to the US before they were sixteen. And our younger than thirty. They also must have no major criminal offenses. Have been the country for at least five continuous years. Have graduated from the US high school. Or burned a ged and equivalent diploma or served in the military. Individuals should men convicted of a felony a French. Or other significant misdemeanor potential three or more misdemeanor offenses. Are not eligible. And so. What president made big too big to do about how they are Americans and every single way but one on paper and so we have to make the change. No attention about this. He is just few months ago. The same president say he couldn't do it. By executive order. That's because they're yelling at the -- law and of course fish fish and running congress. He's not going to do well in terms of getting a broader solution. To this just this narrow rejected -- Warner. But it's political season. And curiously the president thinks team needs shoring up with the Hispanic community got two thirds of the vote last night. Probably gonna get two thirds of at this time. But they've been a little bit disgruntled because he hasn't done much for immigration reform. We talked a lot about it until the first two years of his term in congress there was controlled by his policy. And yet. Got nothing done. Understanding that he had to work with congress now all of a sudden. He's she's a way to do it enjoy issues in the jacket -- -- Can't charge to make it sound like -- know endure the politics. Well it's curious argument is that they keep saying all the short and nothing to no fault of their own touch -- on every bloody. All of -- had no choice will we were born right. Well for -- metal -- we are 123 years old we have no choice and we we lived. So it's not that clear to me that somehow that this is an isolated group. No part of this thing about this for a moment on his attention shareware now look how -- those kids your valedictorian in game. Him the benefit of all this we should take the benefit away. The -- of the benefit. Is predicated. On a crime. And illegality. And all those benefits and therefore flow. Obama who shall we say they are the fruit -- in the illegal seized during illegal sampling that was planted. I think the -- a different context here. Supposing why -- three or four years old. Your father and mother rob a bank. Then they give you therefore they gave. They have a ton of money you may give some benefits do you you live in nice -- And when you get to be sixteen they give you a nice car to drive and you have fancy clothes and a whole bunch of things. And then it's discovered that they rob the bank. And somebody probably from the bank or some depositors say -- we want the money back. Just somebody's saying we you know but the children. Child here who's innocent. He didn't do anything. We shouldn't take away the money and the caller from him. Because he didn't rob the bank. So you get the benefits of the crime. And you begin to show me. That it's not quite so simple legally to share way committed a crime. And we know you shouldn't get away were -- We'll let the kids get really that put -- on the kid's name. I'm being intentionally flip because it is a complicated problem. That you have also had to pound the difficulty. That this war it is going to go out now. To. Everybody else. Who's not yet an illegal immigrant improvising incentive. To come here and -- have a kid who bring the kid what you. And the policy the United States will be toward the parents catch me if you can and who will try to catch you. Credentials they catch me if you can't. But my kid kids. Will be okay. Now the immigration problem malicious broader than that or do something about the borders. For doing the same time maybe were -- -- solve the problem of the borders first and then address the issue of the poor innocent children. And there would be a better approach. OK we have to take a break right those you'd like to join in the conversation on the subject. By all means 8774694322. He is C phone number. Just one -- text message from seven anyone before we go to break. Romney's house can't -- has a sprinkler system. Back on the other side of paying some bills -- Nelson. Welcome back this is on -- Nelson happy Father's Day to you all. Tomorrow. We've begun the program we talked about immigration new immigration policy the president. And young people here who brought you earlier. Or youthful in their youthful years and are still relatively young can stave them commit any crimes etc. Your thoughts are welcome made 7746943. -- is the phone number text message code 68680. And the email address a Nelson at wrko.com. Go to the telephone lines now go first to Jim Jim good afternoon your first up. -- Very spirited jump. I I I listened to you every Saturday as I'm driving around. Doing my chores and errands smooth thank you and I gotta tell you you just do not have a heart. Appreciate you listening and I am so happy that President Obama did what he did. These young people are innocent. They work hard in school many of them have put their lives on the line fighting for us abroad and you don't wanna give -- seventies show. Well actually you know I would make an exception for people who have served in the military and he drove a point there few few few fought for the country. That I would make an exception to the pro might have Jim his understand which is Shaq. But there are repercussions so policy for example. Are you concerned that this will provide an incentive for a whole bunch of other people to come here illegally and bring their children. It just doesn't bother me I'm sorry that issue to Obama. Let me ask you about let me ask the broader question Jim does illegal immigration. Bother you at all on the should we have any rules at all for immigration or should be. Anybody who wants to come across the border no questions asked. I would say just about what we're doing now I'm probably one that would be a strict. But I don't mind what we have in place right now I I really hate the idea. That we -- neighbor Mexico we've prepared a purple -- I think it's so insulting we don't do it with Canadians. And I was feeling that word our notebooks are illegal Canadians in here but the Americans don't get the death of their skin as. That's so nothing to do -- Jim apart from your -- you know obvious. These are pictures up of people who were Caucasian and and denigrating them as being all -- the reason. That we don't have much of a problem with the Canadian border as the Mexican border is a numbers case. There are just a relative handful of people from Canada who try to sneak into the United States whereas there. Hundreds of thousands millions of people have come across the Mexican border you know when you know people say our children. Being -- -- -- human beings. Played horrible horrible and it. Oh no not all of them -- our Jim. A whole bunch of them. Come -- commit crimes. And do you think there should be any of it should be allowed criminals should come in should you should -- I want to get a good thing about its electric criminal or are you of the gym now knows that means you've got to have rules and you've got to have. Computer some enforcement's of the border so that -- -- kernel while women sure are you in favor of it. I'm saying look it's not my highest priority either other things more important. I look at these people it's human beings I want them -- -- criminals are made to I want them to have citizenship. Yes short criminals gem and so people are mental the criminal and -- -- -- did not gonna happen criminals come -- And you gonna have and not be undesirable. And not the people who just gonna be burdens on the welfare system then means you have to. I'm saying if you don't want those. Then -- going to have to have some kind of border enforcement border control and the people who come here illegally are gonna have to be sent back right. Oddly my mother is in a nursing home district court not for these immigrants. There would be nobody helping her why why nobody I doubt they will help work. We have a high when you talk much you we -- high unemployment didn't. In this country why do you think there wouldn't be anybody take the job. Well educated Americans that might not have a job right now. They will not take. Struck John we've got unemployment over 8% and you make his grand pronouncement without any the backing up the -- to -- -- and I'll. I'm a -- and her survey yes and number nobody would nobody would take the job in the nursing home if we didn't have twelve million illegal immigrants. If you want labor. So many people say that I've heard him say that people. CEOs of companies have set it. Send more us that there wouldn't be jealous we need these illegal because there are so many Americans. But will not take these words -- job. A lot of hogwash Jim. Don't give me this nonsense about how she -- just. They just aren't people -- John you may get solidly lower unemployment of one point 8% said they point 2%. I just read it Bobby. I just read today in the paper. That people Republican governor of Mississippi Haley Barbour. It's making the exact same argument so I'm making is we need these people to fill those jobs that most average person's will not take. I don't know what Haley Barbour saying that that is a lot of nonsense Jim. There are -- I don't care what Haley Barbour says I'm telling you we know we have high unemployment your first argument Jim humanitarian one is your strongest to make this economic at a time you're saying we should allow whole bunch more people to come in at a time of high unemployment is contradictory. To the economic problems we have. What I wanna make. Just one final point and then -- move on. You said the President Obama has done nothing with regard to immigration President Obama pushed very strongly for the three and act. And that's only because -- filibuster in the United States senate. That that builds -- not passed and it was to democratic party's fault because they were three democratic senators that did not vote for it. And therefore they could make steps sixty both. Believe it that would have allowed that. You're doing a little too generous with Barack Obama his concentration in the first two years wasn't on the DREAM Act it was on obamacare which is one of the reasons why he didn't have the political capital to get -- -- and now all of a sudden when he said he couldn't have done an executive order before now just a few months before the election he discovers the executive order route but Jim you may consider. They're -- wonderful thing he's doing you can argue plus or minus on that. But to ignore the politics of -- and to think that sum up Barack Obama is just discovering humanity -- to be -- -- -- -- -- 8774694322. These phone number. Let's see from 781. Jim launched -- pay for alien lay abouts. PA should they shoveled his mother off on a nursing home for her care. Do as I say how well I don't know the details for why the mothers in the nursing home. But let's not make it that all people who've come across the border are wonderful people and they've come here to work and they just advancing the country. The prisons have their share of the illegal aliens who have come here committed crimes who are you. In effect. Getting benefits of this system that they haven't contributed to. There are some on both sides granted but there's a whole flock of twelve many of the twelve million who are here who are very undesirable. And you look. -- start with a system of law as. If you gonna be violating the -- to begin with. Then you wonder what kind citizenship -- promoting here. -- -- 774694322. Mike you're next on the program go ahead. They had daylight you don't have they're getting better have a break. But I'll tell you what they could impact. It would ever rebel -- cracker to begin negotiate billion rather than risk involved. Of course good answer to keep of people would trigger -- bad again and creator of food mantra that other people aboard the look at I'm not hard -- -- -- right. I say -- -- but does so with a -- and the president said just. They're -- they do. There in your school there in your -- -- well that's -- that makes it easier part in the god could put them back on the campaign problem so I'm in the construction trade. They've taken that -- -- Being our immediate every day. Thank you Mike -- Mountain hero about the folks. -- from seven they won whatever 71 GM has embarrassed my name. He had this nonsense about how G they just nobody know Americans would take the job let. You know in the job market works. If there are no takers for job but the giving wage. Than the waged gets booted up right. Until somebody does take the job. That's how the job market works that's why some professions pay more than others. His business -- we need to have the illegal immigrants. In order to take jobs church just that's just not true but the way I do want to. Scott mentioned Scott Brown. Issued a statement. In reaction to Obama's new. Immigration policy. Here's what he said. Quote. I opposed this policy and legislative form and I oppose it today is inject your border. Well I'd be open to allowing young people who have chosen military service. To obtain citizenship. In recognition of the extraordinary. Sacrifice involved. I'm afraid that the administration's policies too broad. And which set off a new wave of illegal immigration. Making the problem worse not better. Unquote. Are surprised god -- but he was gonna go and -- supported because sooner -- votes in Massachusetts. But I agree with them. -- -- keep in mind -- what about all those people who have been playing by the rules who are waiting in line. To get citizenship. And now all of a sudden. The president of the United States for obvious political purposes. Just hand wage aside. And let's all these people staying in not technically they're not on a path to citizenship not yet. But hey with the exception of voting or something. They can they get to get work -- renewable every two years that's what the new policy is they can stay there indefinitely. And lift quite comfortably. While the other people still waiting -- -- -- get citizenship. Sure there's inherent unfairness to some others who -- playing by the rules. And there's another thing too when you communicate from highest office in the land. That playing by the rules is not a requirement. Now changed the rules. You make everybody a little bit cynical about obeying the laws right. You make everybody think woo more about being asked offline. They wouldn't get away with it. Show there's another downside to it. Okay hit 87746943. To choose a phone number. Dave you're next on the program good afternoon. I have they I'm gonna have to agree -- him I think Jim had it. Hit the nail right on the head. Probably Jim needs to understand this. That the Archie Bunker type in the David do types. Who's gonna call -- station they don't understand that the demographics of this. Country is changing in this price isn't in this skit. All she -- -- spare us the selling sparrows a Psycho babble you. This is the same policy. They Ronald Reagan. Ride on -- who's your favorite station right on. CNBC. The Reagan made this same speech about. These individuals that they need to us transition to. They listen to me just because you trial Ronald Reagan. Doesn't mean. There were going to Jen your -- and I now have a very I 35 years ago Ronald Reagan did most of the things that Ronald Reagan did were terrific. But I don't think he force saw that there was going to be this endless wave or be illegal immigrants and a policy that was never gonna get solved. Well oddly you know with Jim Jim again Jim headed right. When it has to do with the only known why the U. In the other individuals. How are making a big pay about it he then they make a big head about it when the Irish and Europeans is coming in. He's. And then tell -- -- mega mega mega -- -- When they were coming over we're -- a hundred years ago I was hardly in a position to make the argument what I -- guardians say yes we are. Yes we are gave. That's when that's when the waves of immigrants from European immigrants came over here that's point one point two. There was an awful lot of resistance at that time. And a lot of bigotry. You know all Irish need not apply and all the derogatory names. That apply to the various ethnic groups in the same arguments. We're used by people than -- its vendors like big it's blue like you've proved to be true. That you exhibit now how much Paul you can tell from the greasy hair in the swore the poll learned they don't look like us took. The same kind of ugly arguments were made but there's this big difference. Those are being made against you immigrants who were coming here but the immigrants who came here. Did so legally. There were no welfare systems that you live awfully awful for all aboard other people that earned. Don't know bilingual education they came here -- they wanted to work hard and they built a great country. There are whole bunch of the Hispanic. Immigrants. Legal and even a bunch of them illegal -- in the same category. But unfortunately. There are also a whole bunch of of people coming here illegally. Who. Have been a burden to society who have committed crimes who were involved with murder and drug wars. And are very cluttered up our prisons so there are a lot of problems here. Bobby I have the other three step program that kicked all the illegals out okay. That's number one. Every governor that's the conservative they get rid of a lot of their own states okay that means that he shot along a lot so therefore they're gonna come to all the liberal states. And that's what all happened almost did it matches as California New York Illinois we'll have all the illegal in those states. All of the people vote on what they want paper of the book to them but they're not and that a lot of my state. -- web where all -- which would stay it is your state. My investors right now but I have no control but -- not I don't. I know but you just came up with a plan or they -- all come over here. Well that that's all I know embattled -- right here but if I get squeezed the motto all these other states and and and look we gotta get a handle that we give -- a bigger than everybody.
