The Obama administration announced Friday it will stop deporting illegal immigrants who come to the country at a young age. The politically charged decision comes as Obama faces a tough reelection fight against Republican Mitt Romney, with Hispanic voters in swing states seen as a key bloc. The change in policy could allow as many as 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally not only to remain in the country without fear of being deported, but to work legally, according to a senior administration official speaking to reporters Friday. Is this the right thing to do?

The straight out Leo are awaiting president Barack Obama's remarks on changes to the United States immigration policy. And this morning to and it upon a time out took great pains. To make sure the words and is the immunity we're not used instead. This new policy that could allow as many as 800000. Immigrants who came to the United States illegally. Can not will be able to remain in the country without fear of being deported but they can also work legally. Okay so we're talking about kids who came into -- there -- the age of sixteen according to the new policy. But these kids who came here illegally before the age of sixteen and still somehow managed to get an entire. Taxpayer funded education. I knew -- nine I don't have kids. It I don't mind paying for education. Especially if it benefits my nieces and nephews and Blackstone in August. I'm fine with it. But I don't have kids in campaign for the education. Of these illegal immigrants who came to this country before they -- the age of sixteen. So does -- employment. -- wasn't high in high and that's the techsters 71 said a couple of mortgage -- sign at 686 CD. I didn't realize the unemployment rate was solo. We can add 800000. To the work points to fight the miniscule and I had jobs that are Althea. And that's a very fair point no we know what this hits it's an election year change in the deportation policy. That doesn't exist anyhow so the last. Young person. Who was deported from this country for no reason. Show me because it was hard enough kidneys three rapists and killers go -- our next let me jump feet right Idec. -- adapt and I didn't retaliate you do that the great shot here like write books. And they keep -- time. I'm really sorry about immigration in this country is probably what that. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I we we do not -- to do a good basic business because they do support for rest the world -- We thought it was so much and try and a lot of money we opt for any it's unbelievable. We get -- and Mexico Mexico -- -- -- -- Exporter. Two rocks as. We don't want -- country on the -- that's. Well I mean it's pretty. Part from a perspective of a strategist is trying to get Obama elected decades actually brilliant. Yeah it's it's democratic strategist Jamal Simmons told the hill newspaper it's immediate risk high reward strategy. Yeah yeah upset the people who don't want illegals here anyhow. Brooke Burke president who's gonna win Florida and Nevada Colorado it's something that he can give the Latino -- immunity and they are rallying cry. We have to educate ourselves and and -- why why we are reported about -- -- -- not let the sister but for eight or else. If we know will be. I heard Larry and it's like it added zero probably. Well you know we get -- this past -- it cannot do this we are. Broke in this country is broke we have a future for our children and grandchildren. It into the other domestically on the face of this earth to allow this to app. They can borrow. Well thank you dedicating -- I mean. Honestly. I would get me first of all. This argument that it's pundit me that all these poor people they hit a wall they have never hit a wall. Which is why they have any here since they work. Under the age of sixteen because they immediately registered in American public schools even though that parent did not pay taxes. The immediately got the benefits the entitlement programs at a given out so Willy Nilly here in Massachusetts. And United States so what are exactly have these people hit. This blatant vote crap because we all know. That nobody. In the category that Obama is referring to gets deported anyhow. So for jet pilots not to tell us. Young people who are brought to the US through no fault of their -- -- children who -- several key criteria while no longer be removed from the country. Are entered into removal proceedings well guess what. That never happened any way. Why has that ever happened when they do -- walk into in my neighborhood these -- -- grab a kid out of the premium park and say we're -- deport you. It doesn't happen doesn't Elian with his stomach he welcomed. Hello bill. Well yes allies in Asia actually I -- -- ally -- Good I got real good take on missiles situation. I think it's a big blunder on the part of the Obama administration because these children. Are all americanize. And everybody knows that the job they're going to be able. The Americans don't want them. I think in this economy can leave me an argument that the Americans don't want your. Yeah because these children. And I can't look at that. That eating and not do any and they gonna have work permits. How many -- gonna go -- from I think it's going to be a very negligible. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Things to do that's a debate that's going on in this country I think the bottom line is this president is saying they're trying to secure hearing that Senator -- standing by listened to President Obama the. This morning secretary Napolitano announced new actions my administration will take. To -- our nation's. Immigration policy and to make it more fair. More efficient and more just. Specifically for certain young people sometimes called dreamers. Now these young people who started in our schools. That play and our neighborhoods. Friends are kids. They pledge allegiance to our flag. They are Americans and their heart. In the mines. In every single way but want. On paper. They were brought to this country by their parents. Sometimes even as infants. And often have no idea. That their undocumented. Control they apply for a job. Or a driver's license or a college scholarship. Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you've got everything right your entire life. Studied hard. Worked our. Maybe even graduated top your class. Only to suddenly faced the threat of deportation. To a country. They you know nothing about. What what works for you may not even speak. That's what gave rise to the DREAM Act. Says that if your parents. Brought -- here as a child. You've been here for five years and you're willing to go to college or serving our military. You can one day earn. Your citizenship. And I've said time and time and time again to congress. That send me the DREAM Act. Put it on my desk and I'll sign it right away. Both parties -- this legislation. And a year and a half ago Democrats pass the DREAM Act in the house but. Republicans walked away from. It got 55 votes. In the senate. But Republicans balked at. The bill hasn't really changed. The need hasn't changed. It's still the right thing to do the only thing that has changed apparently. What the politics. Now as I said my speech on the economy yesterday. Makes no sense to expel talented young people. Boo for all intents and purposes are Americans. Have been raised as Americans. Understand themselves to be part of this country. To expel these young people who want to staff our labs or start new businesses or defend our country. Simply because of the actions. Of their parents. Or recovery and action politicians. In the absence of any immigration action from congress to fix our broken immigration system. We try to do -- focus our immigration enforcement resources. In the right places. So we prioritize border security putting more boots on the -- southern border than at any time in our history. Today there are fewer illegal crossings than at any time in the past forty years. We focus and use discretion about who want to prosecute. Focusing on criminals who endanger our communities. Rather than students were in their education. And today deportation of criminals is up 80%. We've improved on that discretion. Carefully. And thoughtfully. Well today we're proving it -- Effective immediately. The Department of Homeland Security is taking steps to lift the shadow of deportation from these young people. Over the next few months eligible individuals. Who do not present a risk to national security or public safety. Be able to request temporary relief from deportation. Proceedings. And apply for work authorization. Now let's be clear this is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship. It's not a permanent fix. This is very temporary stopgap measure that lets us focus our resources wisely while giving a degree of relief and hope. The talented. Driven. -- -- -- It is what it is the right thing to do. Excuse me -- a very big it's not time for questions are. Not while I'm -- -- Precisely because this is temporary. Congress needs to act. There's still time for congress to pass the DREAM Act this year. Because these kids deserve to plan their lives. In more than two or -- increments. And we still need to pass comprehensive immigration reform that addresses our 21 century economic and security needs. Perform -- gives our farmers and ranchers certainty about the workers. That they'll have. Reform that gives our science and technology sectors certainty. That the young people who come here to earn their Ph.D.s won't be forced to leave. And start new businesses in other countries. Performance continues to improve our border security. And lives up to our heritage. As a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. Just six years ago. The unlikely trio of John McCain. Ted Kennedy and President Bush came together to champion this kind of reform. I was proud to join 43 Republicans. In voting for. So there's no reason that we can't come together. And get this done. And as long as I'm president I will not give up on this issue not only because the right thing to do for our economy. And CEOs agree with me. Not just because it's the right thing to do for our security. But because it's the right thing to do period. I believe that eventually enough Republicans in congress will come around to that viewers -- And I believe that. It's the right thing to do because I've been with groups of young people who work so hard. And speak with so much heart about what's best in America. Even though I -- of some of them must have lived under the fear of deportation. I know some come forward a great rest of themselves. And their futures. In hopes it would spur the rest of us to live up to our -- most cherished values. I've seen the stories of Americans and schools and churches and communities across the country. Who stood up for. And rally behind. And pushed us to give them a better path. And freedom from fear. Because we are battered nation. -- won that expels. Innocent young kids. And the answer to your question -- And the next time I prefer you let me finish my statements before you ask that question. Is this is the right thing to do for the American people may -- guy I didn't I did ask for an argument I'm answering your question. It is the right thing to do for the American people and here is why -- Here's the reason. Because. These young people are gonna make extraordinary contributions. And our party making contributions to our society. I've got a young person who was serving an -- military protecting us. And our freedom. The notion that -- in some ways we would. Treat them. As expendable. Makes no sense. There's a young person here who was grown up here. And wants to contribute to the society. Once there maybe start a business. That won't create jobs. For. Other folks were looking for work that's the right thing to do. Giving certainty to our farmers and ranchers. Making sure that in addition to border security. Work creating a comprehensive framework for legal immigration these are all the right things to do. We have always drawn strength. From being a nation members as well as a nation of laws and that's gonna continue. My hope is that congress. Recognizes that and get behind Eric gets behind the -- all right thank you very much -- benefit for. We've. Had some experience. Since I was gonna answer questions after his remarks but that went away. On the stomach -- we are and succeed a New York -- -- just -- the president the United States now like Harry actions. 6172666868. That's 617. 2666860. K okay so he took the dreamers. Who are facing deportation. In investigative reporter and again the president didn't take any questions. And that's a reporter would have asked him how many dreamers. Are actually. In jails right now about to be booted from this country. In the answer is going to be. Not many. There are not many people facing deportation. That haven't been locked up but some sort of heinous crime. So hear from you six point 72666868. That's 6172666868. We talked about how they -- pledged the allegiance pledge allegiance to a flags. And that's of course they go to school in. Coney Island. Brooklyn. When the principal wouldn't let them sing god bless the USA. And she herself -- -- Duff when their reciting the pledge of allegiance we talked about that story this week. The president said he's young kids these dreamers they can't get a driver's license our college scholarship lie in the lie. You know the illegals can get a driver's license here in Massachusetts it happens constantly. They can get a driver's license there was testimony to that back -- the trial mark -- -- this week. He attended graduate at the top of their class. And some of them do like the immigrant to delivered his. Valedictorian speech entirely in Spanish. Could -- much to the dismay of the folks in the audience at this California high school they didn't speak Spanish. So. Just exactly what this kids. This is a blatant poke grabbed in it is a reaction. To the story every and in the New York Times I'm June 6. There Obama administration -- his front page story in the New York Times and Malibu. We have to do something about this because a Latino vote is disappointed in Obama this New York Times story stated because of his immigration policies. He can't lose the Latino vote so why not. And Chris -- just to give my a couple of pat on the back did I not predict that Obama. Was gonna be very careful not to use the word amnesty or immunity. As a matter -- fact he stead. Not amnesty. Does does not immunity. So. This isn't this a word play game. Because these young dreamers aren't facing deportation in the first place he young dreamers already attended American schools. Public schools. Even though they are here illegally these young dreamers have any able to obtain. Everything that you in -- children. Have been attaining. Even though you did everything right to Panasonic -- -- combat with our calls and you -- reaction to president Barack Obama's new so called policy. We are WRKO. About new actions my administration will take. Men our nation's. Immigration policy. To make it more fair. More efficient and more just. Specifically for certain young people sometimes called dreamers. Now these are young people who started in our schools. That play and our neighborhoods. Friends and our kids'. Pledge allegiance to our flag. And let's say don't. 170 -- we are AM six AW rocking out. There's one aspect of the DREAM Act I totally support and that is if you serve this nation in the US military and you learn. You earn the right to cries out in American. Other than that forget about it I dream of the day where I don't have continued to pick up the tab for this nonsense what about UCJ. -- -- -- Yeah exactly -- thanks for taking my call it out what he has to go. Immigrants coming here just to -- actual programs. Out there and trade businesses -- they figured -- the trade jobs. What Obama doesn't this speak and eat them but the Coakley is it illegal means illegal we're a country of -- and look like should be abided by. What he calls the DREAM Act most Americans consider the wet dream. Laughs thank you CJ. I mean. In as Texas 71 points out he -- right his military scenario is moot because there's already a law. Excusing illegals who joined the military he's tugging at the bleeding hearts in this what it's all about. He is reacting to the criticism that some of his former supporters leveled at him in New York Times story dated June 6 2012. I just read this story like this is all coming together this is a press -- folks right -- to the fact that he wouldn't use the word. It's not immunity as amnesty. I think did it is much. Because he -- be very careful on how they play this and this is just and teen. Because -- million dreamers are not facing deportation in the first place in a good investigative reporter what is said. Mr. President. How many of the immigrants in this category they're talking about these young dreamers are facing deportation. Any uncertainty and would be zero. I'm afraid what do you think -- around summitry. Idea and. It was the right thing to do I was each honor subliminally but Titus and -- it's -- right that -- to 500 and turn. And not take a single question I mean I -- so cowardly and edit it. And -- it's really. -- seemed to be there are coming on negating instate tuition and so he just came out of the service he wanted to go to school. The state you won't get that but they didn't Colorado. Six erotic didn't do -- are gonna get financial. If you compliment to balance work and the only they're gonna Charlie it's you gotta get a -- that basic the -- -- not only -- tuition but this a missed so many wrongs -- it's it's not the right thing that there when he knows. Since this is just. These kids not being turned away from American schools they're absolutely getting jobs. So. Crisis citizenship basically. Like stages but -- The bolts -- surprised -- -- -- -- looked -- she -- on that they did something -- -- should step and you -- I don't like everybody -- and do what do we go away. Saudis sister who aren't Smart people I'm I want to an MBA program and they were churning out these forms and awake stay -- MacBook won't take something that's basically the only GT educated and -- good for the economy. I completely Dan thank you for the cloud data -- with masonic they've already had Dave. We sort. What were the double in the future. It's very important -- get into the -- this child so their child's school well Howard and actually has been in school. Only are these -- associated members. Or the -- in America just because they happen have one child with a -- one child well so are. Five or six other members were able. Your world with protecting their child that you protect all of these other people and hope that they have to be in the school weeks a month. So it sure you it's absolutely sure it sort it all. We're here to the debate. Show of this sort country. There were steps up and -- to -- -- -- absolutely. Strong -- -- associate. You apart this entire speech stayed in in my attic based solely on facts everything he said. Is ludicrous because there aren't -- there is not stopping illegals at this very moment from graduating at the top of their class. From getting a driver's license from going to call it. From you know pledging allegiance to a flag thumping patriots if that's what they weren't they have every open door available to them to get it. Now to us now with some of you may not have heard this and thank you do for the crop the double in the deep skills in a little noticed change a policy. Immigrants to apply through legal channels the immigration status and are denied. While no longer automatically be placed in deportation. Which means we don't wanna make you an American citizen you -- denied. Larry stay guarantee jobs from American citizens who are struggling to find jobs Joey -- problem but I on John -- So -- -- still -- budget problems what. Was given status here he was he was granted an American citizen after his death and I wrote a column for the Boston Herald applauding the Atmel. He should've gotten -- he earned it -- so -- rock proper channels and which these young people these young dreamers can become American citizens. In go to college -- and achieve all the goals Obama laid out to find the military proving. Would you agree. -- -- But sorry John it's argue with Russia -- -- with Michelle McGee got Red Hat on. -- -- -- -- -- -- I had about explode in other than age -- -- mere fact that crime does pay. It does play yeah I want to go rob a bank. Are -- federal crime could they would -- That the federal crime. And it caught go to prison does that mean I hit it. That the united and a sophomore yet. And she had gone. As you can if you qualify for no grants I bet you that the majority of the kids. Because their parents are illegal direction and they don't have professional job -- got to do it again I want to protect that I couldn't get. Literally that day day party have minority status so they get you that they get the Elizabeth Warren cut line right yeah. Thank you might. Text or 71 and the pull I'm mortgage -- signed says I love all plus it -- -- Obama by the end of his speech. Need to those questions in answer at the end of the speech not a single wanna turn on stormed up like a petulant little child. I'm -- -- we are and succeed. A New York camp effective immediately. The Department of Homeland Security is taking steps to lift the shadow of deportation from these young. Over the next few months eligible individuals. Who do not present a risk to national security or public safety. We'll be able to request temporary relief from deportation. Proceedings. And apply for work authorization. Let's be clear this is not amnesty and this is not immune -- This is not a path to citizenship. It's not a permanent fix. The temporary. Right -- November alone nothing at all about this nice on the show -- we are AM six AD WRK -- mine. Does not the most transparent. Both -- of 800000. Potential votes that you have ever heard. 6172666868. That's 6172666868. And please. If he'd taking any questions with which the -- president did not elect a little irritated wasn't if he actually taking questions and investigative reporter should've asked him. How many dreamers are facing deportation. Because I don't know the answer but I wouldn't guest take a wild guess it's not many if any at all what do you think marquis around the -- feet welcome. Yeah mesh well we'll get through the adjudication. So moving expenses. And you know that's -- it because -- Palin from them nor can the American people are gonna pay. And yes -- There's smaller government -- we have. You're essentially decide -- the government goes and you gonna come from the American people pay taxes would pay intact this. Up and I wish. While -- Jackson I have kids and my taxes have been. Squandered to pay for the dreamers. To go to good schools here in the United States Greg our next what Michelle -- feet already had great. Majority of matter or people. -- -- and a -- -- at a Republican senators. Okay maybe -- great. Attitudes all stop that kind of all our. And they have done a single thing in the past year includes Scott brown and Charlie day -- okay. Meaning -- does not concern Greg that nobody in congress has had our backs on this issue. At all. And everything that Barack Obama just said right now as a complete fallacy at the word game. Because there is a path to citizenship and in fact it was. And they give free service there was a guy who served in Iraq in 2005. When he served alongside illegals who would taking American citizenship classes I'm -- put that. And then at some point our tornado. Bet Obama whatever you want it you've got in -- and they have not challenged him on any okay. So for instance what are your point fourteen guards and then don't think like as do I don't know -- corporate debt limit its we're cartridge to. OK but don't want -- doubt because all it really chair out and get reelected not what's good for the country and that's a problem -- or not I mean it's -- under. And now this is breaking news Greg that we have selfish legislators that federal -- -- on a state level. Why would you be surprised -- bridge. Would do -- -- -- -- -- I -- I know it's this is in and the whole thing is -- A lie that this is like very shadowing a you know -- gonna save these 800 young Americans who are facing deportation. No did not facing deportation as a matter of fact. Obama so -- in a little noted change of policy immigrants who did apply through legal chance that immigration status in the country did not out things we don't want to. Well. No longer gonna be automatically -- to deportation and now. So it just says -- hang out he had don't worry about it no ramifications the U thanks Greg Wendy -- -- with John McPhee. Like illegal collection and I and I look and see. And Maria -- Mexico -- region a little quick paragraph. Quickly go ahead and okay all that all children born of Mexican parents. Whether in next call or an -- foreign land are Mexican and it and how how does how does that law you know they anchored a lot from the Mac as well. Why not even talking about anchor babies -- went -- And and at that. Me and I think there at banks and for the car that you're not talking about. Eight to a blond hair was talking about kids who's who snuck into the country with their parents -- -- young. That's who we're talking. And of course I I predicted this but Obama was very careful not to use the word amnesty are. Immunity because he knew that they would be hot potato and election year instead. Waited what do they call it. They called it a it's. I -- how liar I Joey. Good did you hear a lot of their rules -- -- background and every time we talk. I mean how hard is somebody try to ask a question he held a -- got a. Every we talked you heard -- -- -- -- get this with liberals wobbles the birds. Well Joey -- you've heard me say many times my grandmother always said the birds about lock up and ensure our program and now over our. -- -- next with masonic feet ahead and. Shall I am first generation. Okay. My -- up at seven years. His wife and two children here he worked but. He -- it right way is so so he's being punished that Hank is what I'm. Sure you'd be a country. Or not. It's -- -- ship where nothing. I mean forgive me I wasn't aware that there are so many jobs out there right now that we can afford to have another 800003. Hours. Searching for the scraps of the jobs that left in this economy. You are not paying it's just typical -- it -- not been mean not. And it no respect for their country anymore anyway. I completely concur with that and I completely concur so -- think -- these people are getting temporary. Temporary. And there are very careful not to you would use the word in misty the getting temporary relief from deportation. In -- get work visas. Doesn't it translate if you don't work -- kids who registered to vote. You know it's all about the vote anyway. If you're nearing the two Obama because I still truly believe he is one. That was in -- were brought here illegally. While. I can't say that but I can't say that's it and that indeed the dreamers Eddie's talking about. Are not facing deportation in the first place which is why this is yesterday we talked about the October surprise could be that Obama is -- legalize marijuana. Now this huge surprise. It's it's. Based in this is all fluff this is a content any on the -- how that. Well apparently keeping a very stupid and I -- answer the question I don't know the -- -- -- but if you have a work visa. To work which is what they gonna give -- 800000 dreamers if you have a work visa does that entitle you to register to -- -- -- That's even better question and answer guideline thank you -- -- and -- I was somebody asked the question but of coolest. The -- on president turned around and stormed off before anyone had she -- how many others said. The people mentioned little patriots. Who pledge allegiance to our flags they they graduate the top of the class how many of them facing deportation. And some -- I I -- With a lot -- give me an example of one go right ahead of atomic feet.
