Joe Battenfeld on Obama's attack on Bain and Romney's possible VP

But you know it's a nice contrast to other people he's going cover in the air pull themselves there won't answer questions or whatever. We -- of course the vote has been increased speculation I think about her vice presidential candidacy whether Romney like perhaps pick her. Just because she's been on national TV a couple of times has been Maurer. Calls for Romney to perhaps consider woman because of his problem women voters New Hampshire isn't play. -- behind right now in New Hampshire and he can't really afford to lose New Hampshire. So there's to reason that you guys point out she doesn't have all lot of experience. That terror. You know sort of drawback -- organs -- for two years. Just what she said she made comments about Joseph Biden saying basically hey I would love to debate the guy. On a number of issues that would be fine I think we go after the Obama's. Policies and and we talked about how. She -- news from the gap since he made a joke about hey -- it's certainly out of the way with words. So this is certainly capable of making a put down to a good put political put down what she needs to and it was to watch. Her in the coming months as Romney got picked somebody they don't I don't. He thinks she seriously has a shot at the end. I mean I think -- one. A big one of them somebody in the next I don't know who as a favor and I. So she's one of those added that when they're doing the -- vice presidential thing they always throwing courtesy considerations where they want to boost somebody's profile or. Give somebody a little Jews in the media you know it's so they get they'll all our readership -- -- -- -- -- -- in this state as a whole when New Hampshire if you -- you know Mitt knows who we we know how he is while -- really think the Cali so I assumed she was one of -- That could be going on but I don't let Romney get the feds should dismissed her. Just because you have a lack of experience. I just the experience thing is so important can have it at ticket where the combined number of elections one between the two people is to. Let me just throw this -- decided there it is it's so important now who did. President Obama picked as. -- experience. On the ticket. Some guy who have been watching him for thirty years. Has tremendous foreign policy experience Joseph Biden and talking about -- not a lot of foreign relations committee and traveled around the world. So little white guy. It's Joseph Biden was in charge and had any influence we would have never have killed Osama bin Laden. Because it was one of the guys is that no we shouldn't go in there and go laughter. So in that case what his experience you get is sometimes nothing. That that's true but if you're the candidate with zero experience like Barack Obama doesn't know where Washington is on the map. Then you want somebody who spent a lot of time there to compensate on paper. Well that's that's sounds good on paper but I don't think it always works that way in the real world then and Mitt Romney does have experience he was governor he's been around. Felt like he doesn't have any experience and this year I think it did not -- watching experience. It if it might be good politically but I think it makes it awfully hollow the arguments that were made. About Obama he really had done only community organizing never stayed for more than a cup of coffee in the US senate. It's it's it seems to me to be real hollow and then you choose. I think the geography is a decided disadvantage I mean to northeast. Republicans but if you've got to get evangelical Bible Belt southern state Mountain State now folks to give some serious time and efforts of the ticket. You the geography -- it matters it really doesn't that calculus of the state by state calculus might be right so -- says maybe he New Hampshire is an important swing state despite only having four electoral votes. So it's possible. But I I don't think people think in those terms -- you feel about geography like all dispersants from the south this person by means. Certainly Clinton and Al Gore pull it off -- one became in -- got the White House -- one to her. Kerry they're Kerry try to look every try to would John Edwards and that's gonna help him Iraq now -- and expect no. It is there's often does not work and Kelly AI by the way did not come across than the typical northeast. Republican as we would think of them like this Susan Collins or a chief Steve. It's come across that way she comes across as someone who could be very appealing in the midwest absolutely has a similar sensibility that she seems midwestern. A mother to which people like he knows what it's like to raise kids you know that kind of money. So in that respect I think she adds a lot of the ticket whether Ronnie -- there I. Tentative doubted just because I think their their team is going to play it safe. But I don't know if he can afford to play it here's -- this year. Well you know if we see what's going on thus far in the election its attention between -- trying to be invisible. And Obama trying to make sure every anything in the world is being talked about other than the economy right so if you don't wanna provide an opportunity for discussion to be launched other than the economy. And so so if if if picking your VP don't want somebody like. Who's got a lot of stuff in their past. But they don't know -- she doesn't. And you meet ya just given examples you don't want you don't want there to be a conversation about experience and that could take two weeks out of the campaign well as the Romney. Team experienced enough. So what below the pilot the Obama campaign going make an argument about experience when he is the president and he came in the -- I don't have to anymore they don't have to don't want irrelevant piece I an coming -- -- just thirty. So he had the same amount of experience in the seventh as. But that would be one of the arguments that would take place that they don't care as long as we're not talking about the economy even this Bain Capital thing. Yeah I know I know it's -- ridiculous they -- They're the same thing that anybody go Marco Rubio there are questions about this. There rubio I don't think rubio can be considered for the vice presidency this time around. Because you would spend a week or two on his financial. Shenanigans. It would spend time on whether he's qualified to be president based on the immigration status is his parents. Injuries. Overrated I think the state saying that you can get that. Well you need someone who is intensely populace so worked and LBJ in 64. And nobody has had that kind of -- cents. Right right and they kind of stole that one anyway so what about in fact it's. But. But you know it's so I think those arguments they're gone whether Romney picture I'm not sure but. It's certainty is certainly good she rarely make the mistake if you ever talked refused pretty polished. -- dealt with the media for many years as attorney general she's not frightened by cameras. So it's probably unlikely that she's going to make a big gap I think she'd be great contrast. With Joseph Biden. Yeah I let it be it be wonderful covers a candidate and by the way just ever under consideration is great for her because she's a wonderful new member of the senate. A wonderful new Republican from the northeast and and you know we -- we need a Republican members of congress here -- reluctant observer of our politics so it's just a touch excited because she's new which is wonderful Jesus and she's that a fresh face. Witnessed a fresh face in your opinion kind of cross over line and become kind of up. When that her -- and thoroughly vetted and even the -- space -- from. You know there which is a possible what they -- we don't really know I'm just a run and really and national. State or anything like that in the same with mark rubio Puerto of people from smaller states. That really that you can get elected without a whole lot of -- here in Massachusetts it's not so much likely because it's a little more for a lot more aggressive media. But some of the press space also has potential problem that in the past that have not been just that is yet -- got that big is the biggest danger picking the lesser now. From the smallest state. Well I'd look Cory Booker was making a good good taking a good government's stance here saying let me tell the truth instead of are answering to the machine. Yeah I think the guys that made his career out of being can be fraction somebody's willing to speak his mind and look look what happens to you. So you know I don't I think the Democrats of their own problems too if you can't even say something like that and then and middle. There was it was pretty stunning to have a surrogate for Barack Obama on national TV and -- saying it was not -- to -- what he was doing his campaign attacking Bain Capital. And that's the debate this like their whole campaign. Yeah a little bit of the Obama campaign that you. Undercutting which is why they went so crazy and able David Axelrod and people like -- came out. Instead an idea out and visit the web -- force them to come out walk it back. Yeah I you know -- back very far though he did a good job -- standing his ground all right Joseph good to talk -- he has always.
