Hate travels fast in the age of Twitter. No sooner had Joel Ward's shot found the back of the net late Wednesday than racist rants began spewing on the Internet. Most used the n-word modified by the f-word. A few issued death threats. And some combined both: "That (n-word) deserves to hang." Avi discusses this as well as the wording Obama used in one of his campaign videos.

That music in 54 time. -- in the -- awesome program and this is Don Nelson good afternoon welcome. Nice to have you with us. No I -- schedule so you on the start of the program the phone number toll free 877. 46943. Tuned to. The text message code 68680. In the -- I'm -- I'm laughing and I'll tell you why in a moment email address a Nelson wrko.com. And I'm -- because before I even gave the text message code. We have described by 617 a preemptive strike a that's how he described it he says -- -- high. Why do I think these do you do you even -- an idiot like Dave on the year. He's referring of course to day from Brooklyn who was a frequent caller and they are forward to publisher and we always appreciate. People in the audience by deuce points of view are somewhat divergent from the out of the friendly -- talk show host and also people in the audience. But look you know it's nice to have other points of view room. And usually. I know the daily irritates a lot of people but he also stimulates -- -- -- more comments about his calls off here than any other color. So we shall see whether recalls we do not set up the -- and so he didn't take them as they come. 8774694322. That number again if you wanna be one of those who who comes well. There are numerous stories that -- Begin. Today with the the problem that has emerged because the boss you bring joy -- launch a while sports and politics intersect. Which is not surprising because the passion. That we have for sports is a reflection of our condition and it's sort of a a micro cosmic representation. Of life. You know there are certain rules of sports like there are rules in light display their success and failure in your root for success at. What for those who are not interest in its force they probably don't understand but the reality is. That those of us who follow teams. You actually get tense when the game is on the line you get irritated when they lose she -- elated when they win. No around the world there are riots. At this soccer games sometimes it. The United States -- basketball championship -- Detroit got trashed. So. These things become important. And -- -- that's the way it is now usually we need sports to be sports because after all it doesn't really matter and any into the details of of what. Booted one in what trade should be made. But sometimes boorish behavior that crosses over into the domain and we have an example of that now. The Russian -- for those are uninitiated or those who are listening to the program outside of Boston. Boston Bruins lost in the seventh game of the best of seven series. All games decided by -- go to Washington Capitals. The man whose overtime the man who scored the final winning goal is blunter about what. Two dozen black players in the National Hockey League and I think. I'm not mistaken the first black player ever play in the National Hockey League. Was with the Boston Bruins and somewhere in the mid fifties you know -- and 50s1957%. Told me of people who said all that it's -- -- because racism of Boston first player which which here. In any event what happened after that is that there were. Reaction is speaking terms of the population -- -- a handful. Of tweets. Really vicious nasty racist. Tweets that used the N word I'm not gonna read any of them might -- goes through and read some of them. And if they work on compared to the population of a few million people on several million probably what we're rooting for the Bruins. Yeah it's a tiny tiny percentage. But this provides. The opportunity for. -- the New York Times and Boston Globe and and us from the colonists to start taking out with the old war rant about how all Boston is a -- city and all you have to go back. -- 4050 years to find the stuff that that they wanted to do to make. The it to make the point. Yeah literally forty or fifty years and they trotted out the remarks from Baghdad and even when the mayor wanna know better. Menino said. In 7273. When blushing was -- our city apart we had problems but I tell you we've grown over the years well hey look. I was involved in the blushing controversy the problem with forced busing in Boston. Was that you imposed forced -- on a population. You noticed how we don't have any bussing programs anywhere in the country now. Because it was a failed policy. And the point of the spear to demonstrate that failure which right here in Boston. We destroyed a generation. Of education for young people they fled the city. -- -- to turn and ratios and give me a break here who's the government imposing a bad policy. That's order was in the seventies which is not to say that there wasn't racism that there isn't racism now of course serious in -- verifying some of these people. Who are going to say things that -- shirt on the other hand let's remember. We also have the black Panthers the new black Panthers Louis farrakhan's. Jeremiah Wright who's got a lot more currency and a lot closer contact to the political world is this who are vicious black racists. To a few good talker and you're trying out racism. You can trotted out on both sides are always gonna be people like that I don't call -- there's only big yellow fan I think that's an insult to the animals. But they do behave in -- sub human way. Now wishing wishing I was gonna lead with the story anyway and then in the newscast you may have heard just in the lead into the program. That there was six story. Well from Al borrow a fifteen year old -- moral high school athlete apologizing to a school mates on the community. After being one of those people who tweeted the racial epithets. Having to do with the Boston Bruins and the black player scoring the the winning goal. His mother good for her shed. That required her son to apologize after you remain anonymous. So as not to further inflame the situation. In this brings up another on by the -- that she said she's taken away the youngsters Twitter FaceBook privileges. Brings up another point. First that probably a lot of these people are indeed young and high school. Second they think that somehow because they send a tweet that is stone anonymously. Like people who send. Text messages. You know and and are gratuitously insulting and think that -- know we can respond to them there isn't true. And you're likely to find if this thing you know if somebody doesn't eighty. A computer search. This thing is likely to travel and follow. So these high school students at ten years from now when they're adults and applying for a job Jewish gonna find this. So you know there are going to be consequences and of course people in high school that's what their kids. They don't have the responsibility of adulthood and they don't have the judgment of adults so they do dumb things. And this in this particular case. They. We have the mother stepped in and good for her iconic image then why she wants you to remain anonymous I don't know whether well. By the way according to the article I have now you know for the sun chronicle online. The teenager tweeted quote that any word deserves to hang on quote. So you know pretty ugly and national is typical of some of the stuff that were sent. But it's not typical of the shady. Tired of hearing about every time you get some durable -- out there who makes an untoward remark all it's -- whole city of Boston. Forget it may break and I don't wanna hear about how that the Red Sox passed up on Willie Mae should trump saying you have to go back half a century. I'm sure can go back to the 14100 you'll find other problems too. Show let's not let's not. Denigrate a whole city because a handful of people go line as someone pointed out who -- the game I was not thinking. Let you know there wasn't anything with the crowd there in the -- most disappointed going overtime goal this sudden death show. Everybody's rooting hard for the Bruins knowledge sudden death of the game -- sudden death of the season. And it didn't happen there are so you know it was a break here. This nonsense about how how it's Boston again which is what which is what some era I have one night. National flag one of the columns in the New York Times. -- the headline -- -- the columnist doesn't brighten the headline that is my Abbie good known in the headliners. Hockey -- such -- slurs and Bausch and ask again. Separate. You know this is just it's unfair and what the newspapers are doing. Is worse because when you have the imprimatur to the authority of the New York Times and Boston Globe. Writing this stuff. It has a lot more impact and a lot further reach. Then some high school nit -- who goes off on a rant than tweak something that the you know fifteen year old should know better big east. Fifteen years old. And he is -- for anonymous who yup and who cares. Who any kind of luck we'll never hear from again. Not much that's one thing yeah. I guess from 781. Huge Dave from Brooklyn to see there's a star in the program. But anyway will we'll see and we. This just confirms her worst -- sure enough some people are calling in immortal -- is Dave from Brooklyn -- It's any consolation. You figure. -- we now know that ulcers should not caused by aggravation they're called were caused by bacteria. But metaphorically. We still feel -- to speak of giving people -- There Bridgeport -- -- yet but you've got -- got to figure that. That my program and some of the others must be life shortening your experiences. In terms of aggravation. But before. Well I got something that I wanna coupled to this. And well entered -- David I know you're online you hang on we you know we know our usual this started the program quite so soon. Sure let's Begin. We can horse I've learned go to -- line -- okay that the next one that is okay Joseph we're gonna go to load the bill. Millionaire the icebreaker good afternoon. Thank you for taking my call mr. -- I don't watch you know how important you why that you're going to be -- taken ahead of Dave from Brookline here. Oh you know based on Brookline means well and like he's he's he's very cut particulate one thing I. Never learned to do all of you know when something comes up it probably got kind of thing then. I can put it together. But basic good guys and there's nothing wrong with -- haven't. A religion in front of his it's hang him up in his his house somewhere because it reminds you what we've been doing and hopefully with we get away from -- but -- Avi you and I go back to the seventies okay. And you can ride this day I never did agree with force but didn't you know kids coming out of their neighborhood to go to some. And go through the gauntlet. Like the black kids had to do to when they went to sell bullets and and it was -- vice -- when no weight to it came at the Roxbury because we we just don't think like dead OK now you recruited to. Black -- not. Be in -- do you wanna use that the animal but haven't some type of animal is that we are -- -- Women and a little bullets -- -- royal -- will let me close you're. You mention the black campus. Bobbie can I would -- -- black can't -- -- at this stage and I've got doled out idiot you know why we got here we are trying to bring this city together. And and I was surprised that the -- people like gut Eugene Rivers then Tito Jackson can end -- people from. Diaz -- -- this year okay. -- -- we you've got thrown out I didn't budget gets thrown out. Because I spoke up Obama didn't need to see -- -- -- -- that adds that in the past this was that period and all. What's life saying as many years ago I had forgot that it was even there. I tell you got there I -- -- -- -- you -- why did you go there. Because that was supposed to be a rally -- -- get together and it did then and spend spend and not and we got to prove Martin and I want that this. Tell -- tell them my -- says the delights they didn't call up aren't sold like -- it's okay if they wanna do something to bring people together they got a call up but I'd just below like cures that. Too good to protest. Some of the things that you say. Bill did you get thrown out bodily urges. -- -- Don't be helped by a leader in embedded -- to say actually that lead ball. And and come back made a -- said no I'm leave the period and that that would -- and I told some of the people at the expense should be good basic. That they should be ashamed of himself a big idea and and and go along with that would would -- the big get big guy named -- he's he's kind of prominent yet live radio station has stopped but the night at. The article titled jam packed it was at least 300 people -- So okay. You -- how well like I appreciate the call Dillon congratulations on writing it. Probably we go way back Bobby and I -- they could just say about what but there's not correct OK okay well yes. Pressler walks the thing about this this you have the white flight that's -- -- had the commuter we're rove put up from the tells you okay in the blood that. Because they had that do something about people. It back in the blessed and I have been quite that evidence that's because you write my own back got. All right well thanks for god look quite flight took place after forced busing that's what caused white flight people didn't like the idea they're kids being. -- effect forced to go to schools that we're presenting an inferior education and they fled the city. They voted with their feet I Shea again there's not a forced busing program going on in the country that I know. Jewish tribes and other places and quietly abandoned when all the social liberals and by the way. Live outside of the city when they decided GI don't think it's working. -- now let me had something it. On the other side. Barack Obama. Has formed African Americans for himself and got a clip of this is the president. Good good -- on YouTube should you can see it and move into clip goes on for a while mother played the whole thing. But I just want to play a couple of parts from that clip show or -- -- -- this month we're announcing the 2012 launch of African Americans for Obama. Okay I think this month was actually February in -- -- talk money now is of course she is it couples into this whole question of race. He then goes on and talks about the African American experience and other people you know what they sacrificed and all that and then. He makes another statement which leads up to and -- saying this in because your first today. And OK I'm sure in the rest of it. There -- efforts made it possible for somebody like to be there today. They noticed we should somebody like me didn't sing me. Make it possible for media -- or somebody like me wouldn't like me means black like me. Joseph here's a guy playing the race card and of course -- back crunched Jeremiah Wright I want you to contemplate for a moment if Mitt Romney. Introduced that he used today. Forming caucasians. For Romney. What kind of response there would be I would venture to say that most people have not heard this -- don't even know that this organization exists. But it Mitt Romney. Were to come up with something the equivalent on the other side angle sanctions -- wasps white Anglo Saxon Protestant -- run me. Can you imagine. The echoing of the shouting and the and the ricocheting of the -- That there would be across the United States and and bouncing off the walls everywhere that's such a horrible thing because it's racism. There's one other thing I want to do with this that -- back. Run the clip straight through because this was ended by the way be the first part and the second part are separated by a few centers. That you know weren't completely irrelevant your killer on the whole thing. But rorschach is edit them together to play the clip. The in the edited form. This month were announcing the 2012 launch of African Americans for Obama. There -- efforts made it possible for somebody like to be here today now if we played that clip that you would not know there's an -- which of and I just wanted to show how easy it is. To make something which breaks the context. And which then to make it sound like perhaps somebody said something they didn't say. There's a break between those of film actually some period of time that would electronics you can do that we didn't do it. Because I wanted to first of all I wanted to be fair and to get an accurate. And secondly I didn't want to they have anything that that -- Mislead anyone and some of them half holes about -- taken out of context we didn't but it shows how easy it is to do it. Okay if you're just joining us the racial issues so racism on both sides now. Page 774694322. Is. The phone number -- pause to patient bills back on the Alicia I'm sure we'll inform the White House. Again it didn't surprise me when these -- was going out against the hockey player. It doesn't surprise me where you'd be tweaked these -- to talk radio crowd says these things about Obama. It it doesn't surprise there you almost give college. You know they. You know these days about how well you know date if you don't know -- diverse opinions they don't like diversity at all understand that. Dave Connolly did not surprise you and Jeremiah Wright makes racist and anti American -- marching Lewis. And then I totally disagree will work Louis Farrakhan says I disagree with what some. What Reverend Wright. -- right. Says. -- that you're gonna like this may become the conservative. But not a problem but I'd be lifted. We've had data that is who won a nice things about doing the program. Is after he's gone I'm still here and so are you so we give rebuttal. Must be frustrating for him but because you had a handful of people. Who did some racist tweeting. And probably more some more high school students including the one that I read about earlier in the program in the mother for she was fifteen year old fortune to apologized. That is not grounds for saying his Dave likes to say the 99.9. Percent of the people are in that category he just isn't true. -- and how many tens or heard from 15181000. People at the garden none of whom said anything at the spent it at the game when it happened. I won't want to go back to that story of the fifteen. He year old within the mother reacted with such courage and I think correctly he. He was so one is a fifteen year old from Attleboro. Newton Massachusetts. -- -- we did that a you know racist remark. And you know the mother. Says she's she's little loss to understand your sons actually rolled most mothers will do that they now realize is that he's throwing his many of African American friends. He says and there. This is part of the -- apology that he wish means that he was called upon to make by and -- The mother she only wrote the were worse because he was -- angry about the game I have let down my family nineteen in my community I have truly learned. That what you post on the Internet can be shown across the world and never be taken back. I'm hoping that this decision will not have detrimental effects on my future. I would like to turn this situation around and show people. That writing things like this can have national affects not only on their lives but the lives of others around them. On quote. Oh by the way if he really wrote that I -- won't be any help with -- that's pretty good for fifteen year old. I know some people who go to college. You know including some of the good schools who can't put together English -- like that but he should appoint you should. He when he should you -- you shortfall would go off into the finish things can fall you're gonna be a lot of kids who may regret some of the things they're doing not just with this but you know some of the other stuff -- the Internet. -- way into -- -- young man's mother said that although the quarter posted not use your son's full name. Quote everyone knows who it is uncorked. That's the problem everybody just shell. That not purchased them not to related passion that you can then -- whole city. And all people in the area because there are few people some of whom may be high school kids. Who use stupid vulgar and inappropriate language just not to letting go. And you can see the adult she's doing a lot worse and that's why you know talked about Obama African Americans for himself and and the the rants of Louis Farrakhan. And Jeremiah Wright and so on. From 71 there would be less racism that Sharpton injection which stopped stirring the pot right which you know why they won't. They've benefit for now I -- color race mongers. These are people who made fortunes and prominent -- prominent because you're always stoking. Racial fires. Okay. Your thoughts are welcome 877469432. To the other phone number. We'll take another call and got some other interest in clips I think you may enjoy but let's go back to the lines Smart you are next on the program good afternoon. You are calling responding to today's claim. You know blacks who are carrying evolved and policy in Iraq. Are you. Blocks -- locks locks you say the burned out Jewish businesses. So -- long termer garage. Attacked around via the home. They're all role. That. Herbert warfare of the lady Jeanne. And and the last week we talked about you may were called there was a I'm not a rant from a AM he democratic governor from Montana. Who managed to use the word polygamy I think seven times in in one -- two essential is talking about the history of Romney's family alone neither father -- his grandfather were polygamous let you know it's connected with the Mormon Church in the past. -- bear on -- special report regime news program. In the daily in the evening on Fox News -- very responsible line -- -- the following clip. With regard to. Putting the comment by the Montana governor. In context. What is also true is that President Obama has polygamous in his family tree. Prison Obama's great grandfather had five blocks. His grandfather had at least four and president Obama's father never divorced his first wife before marrying his second Stanley and dot com. Who later filed for divorce. Obama married a third time before reuniting with his first -- OK not so it's hard to follow but you get the gist of that lost their lives. Well -- -- interestingly didn't mention last week. Is slowly Dunham by the way is Obama's mother that's that's the reference there the rare and say that that that that two -- But found myself thinking that if Obama. Father Obama never divorced his first wife. Before him as Stanley Dunham then technically that second marriage. What is illegal.
