Massachusetts And The National Election

Now we're now where I think you would just talk about the the candidates for president over the years and in that for Massachusetts in the last thirty years of me. We have really come awful lot -- tips here moralist a third just a little over thirty years since Ted Kennedy started running and 1979. And since then well we'll just -- Justine just your memories of of great great Massachusetts. Presidential candidate moments and you know when you think about it there have been an amazing person just such area relatively small state -- an incredible number of people have come out Massachusetts. -- have either been born here or or lived here. Went to school here. But -- I guess we would start off with Ted Kennedy and in in 1979. And do my greatest memory of -- Ted Kennedy's. Campaign for president 1979. Was when he won on this this. Interview with our Roger Mudd. CBS news this guy whose son became it later became a one of the executives. -- Freddie Mac are Freddie May Day. For her what are Freddie Freddie Mac are Freddie or Fannie Mae. And so he was obviously you know. Mud defeat you get is if did you get a solid job where you can become a millionaire just you know -- selling and buying shaky mortgages that couldn't be paid off. He was pretty well connect that he was not trying to hurt Ted Kennedy in any way they were tried to Britain -- that. You know give them a a nice soft. Entry into the race and so. We -- -- well I don't I don't need to go to this list everybody wants to talk about this we have you -- 1988 we have. Both Mike Dukakis and George H. W. Bush the bulk of them were -- not just in Massachusetts but they were actually born in the same county Massachusetts which is Norfolk. And them in 1992 you have. -- Paul Tsongas. And then and in the year 2000 you have to Harvard man now for the inventor of the Internet. And and George. W bush from a from Harvard Business School and than in 2004. You have. Law I think he's about to talk about a million down. You have John Kerry. That's right John Kerry and we all have many of great John Kerry stories that we can share. In that in 2008 there was. It was Barack Obama former resonant of Somerville when he was going to war Harvard Law School. And that the guy who pronounced Steve in the we've lived here for three years pronounce Massachusetts's. -- two cents. So away and now and now this year.
