The New Hampshire primary right around a corner and joining -- studio to talk all about it it's Phil -- from the Washington examiner. And joining us on the phone right now is Dave why -- slate dot com -- it's late Dave is up in New Hampshire he's been following the candidates all over the place Dave welcome. Let's -- because. What have you seen up there in your travels. -- a pretty big crowds were basically everybody aiming to Newt Gingrich -- So well leadership to one person to get not a -- Newton and modest crowd. Santorum strategy as in seems to be -- random bits -- -- 10000 people out of 200 -- hope they keep going. You know it. Lot a lot of people off from support lot of and a -- so folks. Lot of actually broke after all all the -- pretty confident that none none of their -- early on. Now what do I do that Ron Paul point obviously you've covered Ron Paul very closely during the last New Hampshire primary. And it ended up in that big disappointment can you compare sorted. What happened you know back in 2008 with what we're seeing now and why he's sort of been able to build up to support. And -- what sort of his supporters wanna see this time what would make them disappointed if he didn't reach at this point. I mean in general he's out of a lot of people who were skeptics. Of him and didn't take in your buddy who is thought he -- kind of app as a last army is one can remember typically -- in New Hampshire. Being the straw that you run really our -- look at the looked like they were shot for a local car dealerships with people bad actors thing I'd like all I just say I just think he says the right -- and I think you mean government. I bet a bit -- -- like. First -- -- four -- for years to raise money instead of getting it all applicable -- the end and it for higher -- that people. I think the country to anchor in in in early if you got any if you sit. Or an economic collapse. Body around all the and that one years -- -- an economic collapse and I got on our people who feel it because he was right they're gonna call. I I want to talk to Buckley has the support he's -- you there are a number of Ron Paul supporters of Ron Paul groups that are completely -- from the campaign that produced signs that there's the -- people there is the that super brochures thing what does this hurt him anyway having all these groups that are they're not super pacs -- just. Supporters of his that it just got together in. We made crap -- name on it. Yeah yeah prepared a modest Howard -- effect. For some of that data about them. In interest athletic as -- you know people here are distinct act you can tell who's who's from year. Paula drawing more stuff from guys who have no you know. Really don't know I talk New Hampshire voter -- out I think again -- better and there were four years ago. -- I boy -- girl pretty darn message mean. Broke all campaign. That grassroots level has been really resilient and figured out. How to block and tackle the guy -- -- in the vitality our message out. Introduced any payment and I let intruders are are on basically. Their overwhelming last you always got an appeal it people crucial visit and talk about the buildings -- And that -- give that movement it's. Call -- apparently it's weirdly all orchestrated crowd saying yes 60800 people it is it's a load more mellow and more strategic. 6172666868. You can also text us at 686 city were talking it. You'd Dave why go on slate dot com he is up in New Hampshire. Jason all the candidates all in place. Do you think that this is a Philip -- do you think that the that Rick Santorum is gonna hit some sort of ceiling do you think that there's any chance that he -- Catch now Ron Paul with with some sort of late surge that. You know we sometimes see -- we had teams -- though are on earlier and he always talks about how. You know in New Hampshire a lot of people make up their minds until the last minute I mean do you think that. There's any chance of a surge. -- or weights or concerts that copy you know catch -- do you think that. Paul supporters so solidified at this point among people who say they support. I don't think -- you'll take much away from all. I feel like. A little bit because there -- go to compared. That didn't see any credible anti Romney like all look at some other people gravitate to the area around immediate. Think seriously. -- -- It probably here in the unit I think most generous off from the support and Romney and polling in the I think you look forties all all year really -- for two years. And I think -- -- not many undecided electorate like I would -- -- -- that eat eat it each convinced a conservative are gonna -- settle entry into votes but. Or else we get our beep in gear to support is pretty solid. Other is over there for he. Huntsman -- in operation is really good really professional really expensive looking and people -- and hit voters don't really. I don't see them admit illegal voted for you know good romp on vote for Obama acts and I'm one of them. But I mean overcrowding that we're in negative view of it herb street and demand -- outward up either. Prepared to say that I don't I think the ones. Across -- you never see is. Huntsman. That -- it and like Santorum. Though we know where to draw the thing indefatigable. And -- people he wouldn't you know he get enough ITV. At all. You know the debate I hate to dealing area on the planet orbiting in what. Are. Debate there are a -- -- ever -- early attention and they -- it or like and then eat. We'll pick up more of those are probably colony wasted debate. I'll just get. Thanks so called back or look really angry mean it's it's you know the -- the moderator Scott copilot and Diane -- a local reporter there and you are. -- -- -- And if they'd realize that the way to kind of worries him is to talk about social issues and -- -- you know it's programmatic ignore them. -- -- Character I don't know where at any benefits of -- there are all these applicants currently being on. I. Can. We expect debated just I was -- you in. Fight between -- and -- will this have a panic this. Will this time -- one of the interesting things about tonight's debate is it's the first one without Michelle Bachmann and in the previous debates we've seen how she's been the sort of attack dog for Romney because she's been wanting to be be conservative alternative sushi. Went after Pawlenty and Cain and Gingrich and and anyone and Perry and anyone who sort of challenging Romney from the right. Who do you think is in new and be able to attack Santorum from the right without Michelle Bachmann there to do kind of Romney's dirty work for. Well it it's gonna be visit to tax and -- I are actually that neither of them is is as good as articulate as Bachmann in attack in a bit odd digits. I can't caller saying you know if you just amazingly it's always speaker really get attacker. Armed. The last the last time he tangle it was being urged anti if you actually despite -- of having accidents side. In -- in this thing or Terry -- so completely incompetent on that account and all by incompetent he just doesn't really. Spiritual anyway and for it back Adam and he's not actually that in the game. Into the -- on the at a press conference yesterday and all elect -- morning -- Reviewing a -- acting up. We're gonna hit Santorum for our education or entry earmarks spending and all these kind of things. But it's you brought it not as good of and was so I think. In the mansion. In a period totally relevant here early news is -- enmity between the poll. It didn't go to them and it's pretty good situation. Or percent -- Santorum. I get good bill having workers not -- -- another impact on eager to use that it wanted to they wanted to Santorum out and they stand. He gave Jimmy jamaat if you merger with another caller all. Hey let's talk to bill bill you're -- -- -- -- while Phil -- -- Quinn named succeeding WRKO. Thank you sir for taking my call. Okay I said this from the very Begin them you know I'm not and that typically talk group public speaker but I've said this from the very beginning. On all the skills that come on Bobby Arcadia the only person that you have that in in the race. It was integrity. And and god god. Thought is Huntsman. Okay and you're going to be the person that come debt debt debt debt debt comes out front along these guys okay you take. The former governor Romney. You'd take this ball was speaker Gingrich you'd take. Losses less. Santorum. They had just can't okay -- but it did get talking and saying -- thing just to get elected but what what what. But got -- not on the inside. Okay and they don't they don't speak -- they speak of things that. Horrific. As far as -- and kindness is is this consent and they. Do anything that they did they -- -- and promised everything to get elected. And as. It's this year saying it did Jon Huntsman doesn't do this. No he doesn't think we're gonna spend an -- instead he speaks and he says things that debt that through what he won't say things. -- arbitrarily just just to get elected okay I don't he'll do in the and the long -- because. Do right wing racists Republicans okay they they just want to get. -- Barack Obama out of the White House okay and not because that they have a difference of opinion when it comes to. Party affiliation and and partly different they did do -- because he's a black man. Okay and they had duplicates and and they say they have beaten -- they have nothing but people. And it's I mean. And that's a pretty be charged until and I told her that are right I mean yeah well I mean a lot of conservatives who I consider myself one of them -- you know. Disagrees with President Obama ideologically. I don't what's now in itself. -- yourself. Listen to you what little. Little -- it's still a good crested and then and they you know everybody as a difference of opinion and I respect the other person's opinion but when it comes to put an -- Falsely act could. Killing somebody. -- admit it false accusations then. And actively -- bodies. You know assassinate the -- -- tariff fit and very false witness. These -- in the did the did not 5% of the Republicans -- -- you have good Republicans. I know -- and I know and I. Got bags and side with them when it comes the -- Electorate they've waited just interject from it I mean I see what you're saying in terms of you having problems with the wave that Republicans are attacking and being more comfortable with Jon Huntsman. But I think the thing is that you have to acknowledge that. Barack Obama has done a lot of things to advance. Ideological liberalism. Particularly with his health care law. That would -- conservatives fresh feminine if you look at the way conservatives treated Bill Clinton for instance. I don't think the you'd say that it's been harsher. For Obama so am I guess what I'm saying is that it seems to me that you can. Criticized Republicans. For being too harsh on Obama but. I don't really see. How race is an issue what what you know I don't see it. -- Thanks for the call them I gave and you countered a lot of immediate back I guess we sounds like Johansson voter I know one of the things -- says there. Huntsman is the report is Huntsman is the Republican for people who don't like Republicans. Yeah actually I ever I shouldn't it out of that I that's -- bear you know when you are aren't about god cited greater -- on anybody would do a lot better. But -- religious voters. A company does viewed very well people do. Think that can run a campaign that -- got Barack Obama. I don't I don't quite agree and I actually think like a personal issues. He's been no really go that obstacle certainly could have waited Obama -- Manny -- -- But -- doesn't do Santorum and really criticized him and make all play at -- social activity none none of that. All for corporate and we had to get after Hannity college caliber are in a bit of both the neatest course I guess Gingrich who just keeps. Joking about Obama's teleprompter. At this property yet yup I think it's pretty pretty. Example the wrong word it's actually not that. Let's go to David here up next -- odd days these caves Dave -- Darren and succeed WRKO go ahead David. Personally -- cult because Joseph has talked. And one those Reagan Republicans probably. Attack the guy east side church regularly gotten. -- I'd like I'd like hey you know what they've that you find a -- and the use an assembly acts serve in the military. But that kind of Republican. Got guys who that brought the dogs. They pot shot at the Romney significantly pretty. It's accurate accurate guys talking not I'm not I'm not because it hasn't really. Like -- younger when America and fundraiser fund raiser for. Scott Brown I was making a point you know -- it's like find Waldo finally young Republicans been in the military -- given up. I've given up fighting in a look at what the Iraq veteran match stats fruitless but. Are you suggesting that there are more Democrats that are veterans. Items check and now I'm just just know it's it's quite. The party of patriotism that it is -- -- -- it's tough to find Republican. Young Republican patterns but -- -- 22 years military now as a demographic stated the geographic army officers that they are. In fact. The most Republicans and most importantly. What it means. But as regards editor writes the gotcha element which is all it found it -- That he focus right in on the religion and the religious basis because -- -- -- -- -- been listening to this nonsense. It's thirty years you know first it was Ronald Reagan and the fact you know he was supported quite -- I like Jerry Falwell. And moral majority they were just horrible people and I fight it but coming from the party. Let's face it you know there -- a party of pornography. That a party of abortion. To party a little actuality what and yet they're going to see every one it. You know and now Romney Huntsman or any of them Santorum crawl back Christians. It's it is really each state. And I think it is it is. It is a little -- -- what's going on and I respect for the next thirty years it will be it's not clear disadvantage. In many circles to be running as Christian. All right all right David thanks thanks for the call. Let's go to is gonna stash before he had to be real rules that would let David -- -- up next a name succeed WRKO. Could have -- gentlemen. Not the carpet just called the matter but -- before. Actually had some reports. There always has been. Undermining -- Republican Party which some people referred to record as rock. Which means of rich Republicans agenda. They have an object. -- Barack Obama. Is the president of the United States. We have a congress that is mainly. Made up of Republicans right around. -- how's that represented. Yet. Demand is not get any support from the House of Representatives. And charters are. Any east fighting. And precinct at a lot of points because you don't campus supports. They're -- and that's what our president these are good -- and -- -- current rare and a lot of art and have a creek there. -- -- Did he care he gave you got anything that. Think we lost if. Well -- -- -- -- I mean I just add to that that the I think that is -- problem with that is today you know for Iraq Obama had. Democratic control of the house and the senate. For two years not part of that time he had a filibuster. Proof majority in the senate. And he used that time mainly to pass health -- Build its gonna cost trillions of dollars and drive up health care costs. And you know create an incredible regulatory -- On individuals and businesses. And I think that that was a major mistake and he hasn't done anything to address. Our nation's deficit and he he's tried to blame Republicans for that but when he was in charge and the Democrats controlled everything. If he really wanted to raise taxes on the rich to try to balance the budget he could've tried to do that. But he did not do that when they were in control so it it's a little too little too late for him to argue that. It's the Republican attraction ism that's preventing him from doing what he wants to -- 6172666860. -- text us at 68680.
