868. Did you watch the president's speech last night. This is the second time he's given a speech from the Oval Office. It first with sort of talk about technique. I don't think he's gotten the Oval Office speech down yet. He looks good it's just too tight shot for him. He's reading reading reading so intently off the teleprompter. Did keep it looks like he sort of wild duck PJC's size to your -- in there. He you know when you think of the great speeches he's given you know the first one we saw was here in Boston back in 2004. Win. He gave the keynote speech at the Democratic Convention here in Boston. And then the speeches he gave during the campaign against Hillary Clinton Campaign against McCain. His inaugural speech which I thought was over rated but certainly wasn't bad. It's almost like he's gone downhill. We watched his. He is talk with the troops down in. Texas yesterday when he flew down there to thank the troops in it was a nice gesture. But he could just tell he was very nervous he didn't have a teleprompter he -- just kept repeating himself repeating himself. And you just wonder if the huge and yes the huge and -- the complexity. The responsibility. Of the job the president of the United States is sort. Get to him a little bit. He thinks so I'd love to hear from you on this he it seems to me that as he's gone online and as things get tougher. The economy's top four war. He hasn't been yeah we was able to get through he is most out. Audacious proposals through the congress of course 'cause the Democrats control both branches. But. They haven't sat well with the people. His stimulus plan. As Michael -- the senator from Colorado democratic senator from Colorado said. We spent about a trillion dollars and we have nothing to show for. We spent a trillion dollars Michael Bennett said and we have nothing to show for. And you just go down the list his health care proposal now is so. Unpopular. That the democratic candidates running for reelection in in running his challengers are being told not to talk about it. And if it comes up. Two. Say that well he was a good first step but we've got to fix it now we've got to go back and fix it. That was the one that he was telling people was gonna we're gonna it was gonna change things in America. Changed things in America and instead they are running away from it now. His Barney franks that they're not allowed to call the stimulus plan not stimulus. He the president in Joe Biden said this was gonna be the summer of recovery. And yet there's no recovery out there. And then finally the last night he gets to the point where. What was the agreements that the Bush Administration signed with the leadership in Iraq. We're coming to was time to in the combat role. And instead. Instead he gives this speech. That really doesn't get the air from the point of view of telling us. Why this matters. Why eat the four -- 4400. And so lives that we've lost there. -- You know we through some -- and military and certainly they they deserve than they did a fantastic job this 50000 still there. They -- a half on him he just didn't live up to expectations. I guess nobody had that sort of little viewing in the -- may -- about his speech last night. And then when he tried to tied in with the economy. That's when he really -- and I think to try to make the point that the economy. Suffered because of the war. Chest yesterday the CBO the Congressional Budget Office which is supposed to be nonpartisan that of course is controlled by the Democrats there in power. Came out in said that the Iraq War for the seven years of it. Since we went in in march of 2003. And now here it is September of 2000 intend seven years plus so that. Has cost about 700. Billion dollars a little bit more than 700 billion dollars. And guess what. The Obama stimulus plan wasted more money than that just the stimulus plan that he passed last year. Was over 800 -- 800 billion dollars. So who won in one stroke of the pen he -- support through more money. The in the hole -- war in Iraq has cost up -- home now. Connected -- two year I think of how much it's cost us to. Prosecute a war for seven years little over 700 billion a Lotta Lotta Lotta money. He blew through more than that he in the Democrats blew through more than that. In one signing of of the stimulus bill. -- right up muscles called the stimulus bill the recovery bill the recovery bill that certainly is aiding the recovery. 6172666860. But what he remembered was when they got the big box of soccer balls and they gave them to the kids and saw the kids out playing in the fields with the mini -- whenever he sees. The guy doesn't shut up he's giving speeches every day he's just not good at the Oval Office think he nets and calm clarity and eloquence. I don't they can stop. -- would say he was eloquent and and had clarity of last night. We are puzzled why he taught what about why he talks to Americans so rarely in with seeming reluctance. He talks every day he just gave a speech now would be be yet Yahoo!. This was only his second Oval Office address in more than nineteen months of crisis upon crisis. The country particularly needs to hear more from mr. Obama about what he rightly called the most urgent task quote.
