What was Your Reaction to Presiden't Obama's Speech in Arizona

When President Obama took the podium at Wednesday night's memorial service in Tucson, Ariz., he was greeted with the unbridled excitement of a college campus embracing their commander in chief. Cheers and screams and hoots continued even after he asked for people to sit down. As he started his eulogy, with the somber words, "To the families of those we've lost," voices still cheered and at least three people shouted out, "We love you!" It was not the way most memorial services usually kick off. What did you think of the audience reaction to Obama's speech last night?

Who should be responsible for Clearing Snow from Sidewalks?
Audio
Wed, 12 Jan 2011
A recent ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court makes it easier for people injured on snow covered walkways to successfully sue those property owners who don’t clear snow from walking surfaces. Winter is here and so are slippery sidewalks, parking lots and walkways. Previously, Massachusetts courts have ruled that a property owner cannot be held liable if someone is injured walking on new or what courts have called “natural” snow. Instead, owners can be held liable if someone walks over the natural snow and then another person falls down while walking on the same area of snow, called “unnatural” snow by the courts.

Strict so I wanna tell I have on today -- to introduce to you one of the key and the young candidate of probable Republican nominee. Against. Against us Steve. And -- his name is people more and welcome to the show keys true wicketkeeper mark to do it to be here. So keep give us tell us about your background who is keep the -- what would you like folks to know about you that might be thinking about voting for you before we get into talking about some issues. Yes I'm actually a Boston in my I was born in Boston I was actually Jimmy kid I childhood cancer and no thanks to the the good people of Boston in the research facility here. I was able to get through childhood cancer. -- my father with a pilot and I grew up by traveling around the United States and around the world so he was a pilot. Indeed yet he was a pilot and I actually I came back to Boston to attend Boston University. I graduated -- with two Bachelor of Arts degrees one in political science and another in international relations five and went off to Cairo. To consent to continue my graduate work in middle east studies. -- in Egypt and -- after that went on to do my post graduate work at Oxford university in international relations and not political economy. And -- after that -- actually I spent a number of years on as a consultant. Focused on international business consulting and on not. Business development and about six years ago though I decided. To odd maker come into to a complete round about the change. And because of my interest enough photography and my interest also enough international relations. I decided to become a photojournalist. And other niche that I developed for myself with our counter insurgency and guerrilla warfare. And spent quite a bit of time in Central Africa. And most recently on my most recent a significant -- spent. In Afghanistan. Working in support of US and coalition forces and my job there was to fold. One as a forward media team leader I ran a team of Afghan print and radio journalists and regional command east. And also as a combat photo journalists around with front line combat units and eastern and southern Afghanistan. And this included the 101. And 82 airborne as well as the third Marines French special forces British military. Afghan National Army paramilitaries and police. But what what else I would like you to to know about me is and I suppose we will be discussing this but in part. I've actually been pretty cynical all of my life about politicians. Who are no there there are always -- on exceptions but frankly. I thought that dumb most politicians. Put politics above principle. And I've always voted in elections but I never run because I frankly again because of my cynicism. But I I went through I experienced and actually decided after -- Afghanistan and I was particularly concerned. The ones that one thing that I I found that was particularly disconcerting was inconsistent here front line combat unit equipment. And I just thought that was done. And most unfortunate to say the least and I just thought. The stakes were too hard for me to simply complaining. My body and wanted to do something about it I was also very concerned about the number of national security related issues and of course I came back to the United States and started. Formally assessing the the the possibility of running and viability of such a candidacy but I was -- You know taken aback by the of the state of our economy and so one of the things that I want to focus on was economy and jobs and particularly the impact. All of fumble and I'm focused primarily -- as -- small and medium sized businesses because they generated percent of the job creation in this country I believe me lastly. As I am a firm believer and more limited government and fiscal responsibility. As a way to get our government open and running. We're talking to -- or a candidate for Republican candidate for congress in the ninth district of Massachusetts. So when you were in Afghanistan you're working as a combat photographer. What news agencies were you working for well actually I work for the International Security Assistance Force myself which is what they call. On NATO and Afghanistan and flows are you working for US and coalition forces which is why I actually had. Accessed that none of the media outlets would have because I was working with the military and numb and then that's why I have such it -- extensive. On the interaction and -- access and wherever I wanted to infielder.
And -- how long we will over there and Afghanistan. My -- Afghanistan was a twelve month assignment. Twelve month assignments are you working for that international what is basically need -- Dan if you were there for year. What year calendar year was that -- 20072000. And -- so pretty far along in the process we went in there in 2001. But not sorted during the lull time when we are really concentrating on what was going on in Iraq more than in Afghanistan right.
Indeed and I think Richard showed in the equipment because again the priority. Was Iraq which I will say in my background migrate to work again with the middle east studies. I've lived traveled worked no amongst the Arabs in the Middle East. No I I -- I think I have a pretty good feel for the situation and I did not support the initial. On invasion of Iraq but once we had troops on the ground. Of course then in my my primary concern -- risk the safety and numb knowing the equipment issues told. Supporting our troops and in Iraq. The interesting but as far as Afghanistan is concerned I was fully behind our involvement in Afghanistan from the start and I think. It was that it would have been a mistake but a tremendous mistake not to get involved and a great mistake if we leave prematurely.
So -- your take is do you support the policy that president. Let's let's start we'll -- we'll start -- foreign policy nimble move into what everybody really wants to talk about which is economics job creation. What would you do for the economy but let's start on foreign policy since she did. You were doing service in Afghanistan. Did you agree wit the president's call for eight. Surge of troops 30000 more troops do you think that would make a difference do you think we have the right strategy now. In what do you think about the president saying that. We need to have a deadline on this of next summer. You know this stories in the media today that the Taliban have already said. Hey wait until they leave next summer that's fine I'm glad they told us still leaving Wi-Fi gunmen will just wait a year.
Well I think both ironic and I think this indicative of this administration in the lack of foreign policy expertise of the president frankly. I would also be critical of those -- foreign policy experience around the president because at least. I I should say -- love their advice is not getting through on the one hand we have Stanley McChrystal what the time was the commander for the International Security Assistance Force. And the principal figure for America's counterinsurgency. Bomb campaign and also we know given his background the military he after 40000 American troops that was not an arbitrary number and yet. The president and Rahm Emmanuel and we of course given their extensive background and experience in the military decided to second guess. Bombed the military and offer up 30000 troops and know well if they needed more troops like again from other coalition forces. Well I've got to tell you if somebody is round with Frontline combat units in Afghanistan I was very selective as to who I was willing to run -- who I was not willing to run much. And I know there is a distinct level of professionalism. And I think to suggest. First of all to give left them what the military requested. This is ridiculous. And to suggest that they should then run with coalition forces that frankly may not be up to it. And -- are certainly didn't wanna room with them are really don't think the US military would want them watching their back. And I think. No it's it's it's a say in one breath. That yes we're going to throw in 30000 troops but -- in the next to say I'm gonna start pulling them out in July of 2011. How ridiculous I mean the mixed messages and what that said -- allies in the region. And frankly to our allies in Afghanistan. Into the Afghan people as to why would you throw if you're guy just trying to. No. A guy try to carve out finish for your family trying to put. No food in the mouth of your family provide security why are you gonna come out and support the United States' efforts in Afghanistan if you know that the Americans can be pulling out near. But it would be suicide. And I think that the US did themselves -- great to servers or I should say the administration did a great disservice and I think that also know was looked out you know with. Great surprise and Afghanistan and amongst the military. And I think that it was a real mistake to do that and knowing if it was foolish. And again I think. What is required -- if you look at Pakistan. Yeah we expect Pakistan to support us but now we've already told the pakistanis. That we're gonna pull out in Pakistan is not an entity that we should be fool around with. -- nuclear armed state. And frankly there are significant security issues related to on the issues of Islam and Pakistan. And the role of the prime minister in the presidents are -- Who frankly when he was a member of his wife's cabinet. We know let it -- clip talkers Vietnam you know we're still in the country blind.
Then it's probably hasn't changed right now hockey probably not were talking to key support the candidate for congress in the ninth district. And he on was a combat photographer in Afghanistan and working with the NATO forces. And.
Charley may just qualify 1 for sure I am off of a photographer and I do photography but I'm also an analyst in my right. So I do both for me for those out there who have said OGQ four pours a photographer. And know what kind of a background and then what kind of a profession is not to run for such an esteemed office well I will start my experience against anybody. This florist business experience and and the other things that you've done in your no I have an extensive academic and professional background in international affairs. And I think I it -- me a unique perspective in looking at the US's role in the world. Could you see -- just one more question the president's gonna give a speech Tuesday no.
But bomb could -- see a time we're we would say. Okay we just can't get it done in Afghanistan let's bring the boys home there's no sense in wasting one more American life over here well what concerns me most is --
No the Americans back the mujahideen. And after they drove all the Soviets in 1989 and we just doctor bags and left creating a power vacuum that. You after barrage of Talabani and in 1994 and he actually took over in Afghanistan in 1996. It created a power vacuum that of course al-Qaeda decided to leave Sudan and go to Afghanistan -- uses a launch pad to take on the United States. And you always bad -- 9/11 was. And believe me it was very bad obviously with that would the most significant terrorist attack. On US territory it pale by comparison. Contrary to what could happen I think it would be a -- a tremendous mistake. And very short sided and not the strategic interest in the United States to back out of Afghanistan prematurely what we need to do -- to successfully. -- I have an ongoing counterinsurgency. And allow and facilitate note indigenous forces standing on their own two feet. And taking on the security of Afghanistan over the course of the year that I was in Afghanistan. I actually ran with these Afghan units. Military paramilitary and police and I will say that there is nobody. In New England either in politics are running for office that has more experience on the ground and I've had in Afghanistan.
That's for sure I sure can't they give anyone unless somebody is served there 6172666860. That's -- for pour on the Charlie Manning show. If you'd like to talk to -- give us a call at that number he is candidate for congress in the ninth district of Massachusetts which starts yen. Boston in sort of winds its way down to about taught in this network goes.
more than Bristol county -- includes -- and then a numb Plymouth County has brought in Bridgewater east and West Bridgewater. Whitman and two precincts and -- And then of course 25% the district is in. In -- Suffolk county and roughly 45%. -- nor for county including such large metropolitan areas is not Braintree. -- no -- Milton Milton county in Norwood Avon student Randolph. On the field it's -- eighteen towns and two cities in the district.
So as you can hear folks you're gonna have the opportunity to vote for great candidate and bring someone new to Washington as we're talking the -- About foreign policy in Afghanistan and Iraq here that I wanna switch it over and talk about the economy here too and what he thinks is going on what needs to be done. But let's grab a couple calls here for -- Marty in need of your first today on the Charlie Manning should talk with -- will --
He thank you very much Charlie -- wanna send my wife and I helped us Scott brown and his campaign question that we were looking for a new candidate not district. To go up against this you -- right it's studying your background. We've been most depressed over the -- If we can gash that it will -- good spring. I just wanna mention I think one critical piece of its national spirited not afraid to. If the book you wrote in the late nineties called after the Cold War. I think he's too proud to mention this but this was a tremendous number of international politician enough politician the -- of world leaders. From is there is the first group is -- it -- Muammar -- quote a piece in this book but more important that James Baker. What Mikhail Gorbachev -- the forward. And because he's in this an even Nelson Mandela. And I think that I heard correctly. And you can verify this was he. I heard that Nelson Mandela's own -- quite this book in the after the Cold War is I guess is not only well known but I think it was ought to a lot of people ought to read and we're in the process of people read it now.
Well thank you very much I really appreciate your kind words but I will say yes I did publish of that particular book came out. In 1997. By the University of Texas press it was forwarded by Mikhail Gorbachev. But the reason I put the book together is initially. How -- consumers after the fall of the Soviet Union in the collapse of the Berlin Wall there was a perception in the west up dog with the world was now going to be a far safer place. But frankly I realized from the start that in fact the world had just become a more dangerous place because you deny the two superpowers. Keeping their respective clients stage in place. And Don that I spent about six months working on this book but then it dawned on me that you with a complete unknown. It probably wouldn't have feel I wouldn't be able to push it. Too far but I thought now -- can bring together a spectrum of the most prominent world leaders on the planet. To address very specific aspects within the context of an overall proposal. Then I thought that that would be something of great substance and in fact actually did help focus an articulate. While the debate at the time on about the future of American national security policy but I will say that a fourth Nelson Mandela is concerned. What he actually gave me was in fact the first articulation of south African foreign policy it.
Well all -- can -- to that a president can't do what you accomplished. Well that's very kind of you say thank you thank you very much.
Yet can you imagine if we had a president who had as much foreign policy experience as he has I think he's just running for congress folks I think would be a lot better off. Let's go to injury -- get your next week -- for the candidate for congress in the ninth district of Massachusetts.
It to look for I think it's obviously. 10. Are -- the issuance. Extranet aren't ambitious. And I think it's a lot more liberal than a lot of people including hosted that show the key is. He straddles the final but I'd call is not good but what. But I do that flag -- about is that illegal immigration. Can I met her outnumber US they have I don't know if you if you look at it based in its. But the state into -- state when he should grade of and -- currently I built in congress. It would help. All of the illegal immigration problem. -- where are the fact that some of the best. And there are -- in Q has yet mentioned anything about illegal immigration. What you -- but -- on. That can't what we should do about it. Because I don't. Until. I don't know what to help the technical market we have to deal with it Beckett get rid of people who are freeloading.
Well thank you. Andrea thanks of the call and that's issued any injury to your calls about and -- so keep what your position what do we need to do about illegal immigration here in this in our country and you're if I may just say first that -- this perception throughout the district of Stephen Lynch. Is a conservative or some people have suggested -- Republican. Wrapped in democratic clothing and I will just say that 98% of the time he votes lockstep with Nancy Pelosi denies it. And then he says now that he's an independent okay he's an independent I'll give not pretty broad money percent of the time. Lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and if you don't believe me. Go to the Washington Post for their statistical. Indexes furthermore the American Conservative Union actually right Stephen Lynch of four out of a hundred by comparison they rate dark. The majority leader of the senate Harry Reid and -- so frankly I'm Harry Reid is twice as conservative. As -- dimension and I am in in fact are familiar with some numbers USA the -- immigration. -- I do know that Stephen Lynch was given I believe a no I believe and immigration on the grandson of immigrants but I believe in legal immigration I don't favor blanket amnesty is. And I think quite frankly and if you look at immigration across this country because United States about a 113. Billion dollars a year. That's billion with a B and number roughly -- I believe eighty to 83 billion of that is that the state and local level. So I think they're -- we need to we need to have border security and we need to address internal issues and again. You know what I'm not I'm not xenophobic but I do believe in legal immigration. And I think it's ironic actually that Mexico. Although rant and rave but if you look at Mexican immigration policy. Thus far -- effects laden American countries trying to get into Mexico there's an awful lot of hip caught hypocrisy not just to Washington but Mexico City and elsewhere.
We talked just say we talk about illegal immigration a lot on the show and ice now the agency that oversees immigration it's part of the Department of Homeland Security. Is now living illegal immigrants who have been arrested. Who have are being brought to the immigration court on deportation orders. You're going yen and they just dropping the cases against them and letting the illegal immigrants walk out. And that is happening all over the country that's a new policy -- X do you think it's a good policy.
Think it's outrageous and and frankly. You know this uproar about Arizona for God's -- of the federal government was not shirking their responsibility in doing what they're supposed to do. Which is to control our borders. And provide security for the country particularly after 9/11. I don't know what. -- I have no idea what their agenda is but it's interesting that the US government the federal government will -- Arizona but then they won't take on these. Funded these cities -- Sanctuary Cities across the country that -- thumbing their nose at federal immigration policy you know if Washington was doing its job. On Arizona would not have had to do what -- what they're you know what they tried to do.
So I hope that answers some questions for you Andrea and -- hope Keith is gonna be your man. Let's go to Roger on the cell you're on with Keith we'll -- the candidate for congress in the ninth district on the Charlie Manning show are you doing Roger.
Well I'm back just out fine thanks that I have your questions for you first of all if Israel is -- it's a bomb Iran. What is that capability as you understand it it is if they get they have extended nuclear capabilities. I checked it -- aware of the book. Do they attempt to close this bit of -- gonna let anybody stop them and how.
Well I think what's interesting mobile first of all as far as the Israel. Taking out Iran's -- it wouldn't it's not a simple task and I think it's interesting Iran poses a significant. Risk not only to Israel but to the United States. And obviously other light water reactor at bu sheer is just going on line now the concern about Iran and the -- nuclear capability. Is having control of the nuclear fuel cycle and whether or not they're able to develop. And you know they're they're looking to create ten enrichment sites and I think that's. Of greater concern to Israel into the world. And I think the problem is if you take uranium to 35. When you've got -- when it went surgeon who is going on enough energy is being created well. But the bottom line is that there's not a product to which is plutonium. Which is produced in plutonium is of course used in non nuclear weapons. And I think that for Israel to go in and take on this challenge in Iran. I think it's ridiculous that the administration. Has had. -- They've they've just under a they've done a very -- about Java me Obama administration. Came and -- this group of intellectuals. Sitting in their air conditioned offices. And then their suits in Washington thought well gee if we can just extend our hand. You know everything is gonna be right with the world -- frankly. You know that might work with your friends but your enemies simply lose respect for you. And there are a couple of countries that are -- serious consequence to the United States and no none are more important than -- Iran North Korea and Syria. And believe me by extending your hand it hasn't done us any good and it's certainly hasn't done Israel any good another problem that Israel faces of -- trying to go after. You know these reactors and in Iran if it's not a clear cut case and as easy as it was doing the Israelis took out -- sheer reactor in Iraq. In the early 1980s. And the problem is is that the Americans this administration they don't have the backbone. And I repeat -- of the backbone to go in there and implement serious. You'll -- serious some a furious embargo against. On Iran and to enforce it to push the Russians and push the Chinese not to do everything they can to circumvent it. And I think that's that's of great concern. And I think that is unfortunate that the Israelis are sort of left flailing out there in the Middle East I mean there -- strategic ally of the United States. On the the only democracy in the Middle East. And I and I think it's in the strategic interest of the United States to continue to support them and help. He'll look out for them in that neighborhood know what's ironic also is the United States can't even really go out. And support you'll do the US what was important to the US strategically -- to develop and a missile defense shield. And as part of the negotiations that went on behind closed doors that you'll most people in the United States have no idea about. He'll -- Russians put pressure on the Americans to abandon our missile defense in Nam in Poland and the Czech Republic. And unfortunately other Russians coaches it's impacting them well frankly. No if for every impacts on the Russians would certainly impacts on the on our defense against Iranian missiles. But quickly going to rom the concerns over the straits of -- moves. One thing that's that's actually change in terms of the strategic. Dynamic going on in the region is that now China has a significant stake. And what happens in the gulf obviously they also have. No pipelines that go out of the gulf but dumb to know. I think that. Think the gulf is of critical importance to the United States because of the impact on our allies and one of the things that I've been very interested in is looking at alternative fuel sources. Such as natural gas and shale gas here in the United States so that we don't feel that we can lessen our dependence. On lower -- a -- element felt there.
I just aren't gorgeous this -- radio child held bad. No closure in this state local -- ready they get what you do okay.
I think the point he made this now with the new alliance that the Iranians have with China. And the fact that China is so dependent. Law and boy ill and other assets that they can get like they just signed an agreement from with South Africa. Where they're basically gonna -- South Africa are out of every minute role in piece of wood and everything that they can get. As they've done all over Africa they -- Chinese will not but BI reunions close the straits of Hormuz I don't believe.
and figure -- what's interesting though if you look at OPEC. Is that you know let's just say the opening that it was shot -- of the price of oil would skyrocket. And one of the reasons that the saudis and everybody else -- not not everybody else obviously -- Iran and on Venezuela have tried to do their best to increase the price of petroleum. In numb to know for OPEC but what's interesting is -- the south Africans actually sugar plant in in non fossil in South Africa. They actually developed the technician technology to justify. Coal and what happens is that the press the price of oil increases. And cost that it just makes alternative fuels much more economically viable. But I do think that the Iran ends. If they did try to close the straits of Hormuz I'm not convinced that they could do it I mean obviously if they tried to -- A couple of ships -- in the minds -- they tried to bomb to mine the waters. They would have -- significant problems and numb. And problems that I don't think they. They really want to have but I think that if we aggressively go after sanctions against Iran. They'll we won't have to bomb them and you'll do is actually the French President Bush adjusted dot dom what does it really are. You'll stop the bombing bore no excuse me. Stop them from developing the bomber we will bomb them I don't know if the such extreme but that was something for mr. Sarkozy. And be the French to to deal with.
Welcome back to the telling -- show we're joined today by -- look for who was the candidate. -- who is are you Republican candidate running for congress in the tent in the ninth district the ninth district of Massachusetts. Starts insult Boston and heads out through Norfolk County. And down into Bristol county. Folks are taxing us they say how can -- how can I learn more about peace how can I got healthy -- this campaign so here's his email address. Www. Key slope or so it's -- KE EI TH. LE POR. 2010. The election year dot com so key for -- 2000 intend dot com. If you can get to his web site now I'm sure he would love to get your help -- if you wanna make a little contribution. In -- is in a primary so if you liking what you're hearing and you want a good candidate against Steve -- church. Whoever the Democrats gonna be in the final two got to get out and vote for him in the September 14 primary I know. The newspapers haven't you know really gotten into primary -- here and they will be doing it soon. But this piece really first big appearance in the media. Lot of our show. Good the first -- and on talk radio well while we are well wonderful I think he's doing very well in fact 774 said this minutes impressive he should be in the White House. Just 'cause he knows more about foreign policy the President Obama does not mean there's a lot of people that know more about foreign policy. 6172666860. -- number if you haven't kept a question for -- will pour. 6172666868. Or send us a text question and I'll ask it. 68680. And it will come right through to us some will be able to do it so. Send us -- questioned 68680 or give us a call 6172666068. Okay Keith the number one issue on everybody's. Mind everybody's mind he is the economy. What's going on in you or. Experience in Europe believe. And what what would what policies would you like to see implemented if you're lucky enough to be elected to congress.
We'll tell you I think the the biggest issue that confronts this country. And the state is the economy and jobs. And what I would like to focus on are particularly the small medium sized companies because they generate 80% of the job creation in this country. And what we need a sustainable economic development not the creation of more government jobs. And what I would like to see I'm a -- a fair guy -- I believe in the free market and would I would like to see is so more limited government. I believe in fiscal responsibility. I think that dumb if this government stays out of the way -- know this small and medium size companies will be able to excel. And one thing that I think is rather ridiculous is that you take -- you're successful company and instead of rewarding that successful company you wanna increase the taxes and then you -- prop up failing companies. And it just doesn't make any sense at all. And again Leo and I think that even looking at our national debt I mean we we have thirteen point three trillion dollars in debt. And -- that the president some big stimulus back package which dumb. Which my -- opponent does Stephen Lynch supported W I guess depending upon how it's calculated his anywhere from 850 billion to one point three trillion. Where are all the jobs. Mean nationally the unemployment rate to nine point five wood depending on how it's actually calculated its its highest sixteen point 5%. Where are all the jobs we wasted all that money we just added to our national deficit. And these are no this is a deficit that our grandchildren will be paying off for years to come another without that is currently being financed. By -- countries like the People's Republic of China. By the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Japan and the other financing our national debt why go. It is crazy because obviously there's significant national security implications to that. But the bottom line is we need to focus on jobs in the economy.
We we saw where Michael Bennett who is a Democrat senator from the state of Colorado. This week was was at a forum and they asked him about all the yacht. Gigantic this package is that had been passed in Washington. And he said we have spent a trillion dollars and we have nothing to show for. And that's a Democrat in the US senate in Washington. If you know out there in Colorado he's running for reelection and he stood up the artists who -- that it's been wasted we have nothing to show for. President of probably a lot of happy democrats' -- I think for a lot of money went. Once enough political favors. Absolutely 6172666868. Let's go back to the calls here. Frederick kinross and failure next with key support candidate for congress in the ninth district.
A good afternoon gentlemen Frederick who. Good I just wanna make a comment I I I can't believe I'm hearing an actual grown -- that knows and understands the world he lives that. I got the web site deplorable you don't want it wherever I can't that this is excited.
That's very kind of you are really appreciated and I would be grateful if you go up to my website. And send me an email friends and volunteers so that I can get back to you but thank you so much.
I'm mad at that just this is unbelievable.
From my own backyard I appreciate your Muslim they'll miss it thank you. Thank you sir how about Roy in the end over your next with key support the candidate for congress.
I carry out. I'm sorry I don't live up there and although I could tell you we can't get rid in the case Saunders would embed this guy is fantastic yeah that's a previous caller. I've never heard -- it was such a clear vision of what's going on. -- really -- are what needs to happen. I just wanna say something about Steve -- has been -- me a sense of careful I was down there. Protest saying and I remember when the vote but believe the old was something like 298 to nineteen to whatever. Four. And Stephen Lynch imploded against. Only because they got permission from Nancy Pelosi did do that what do I know that because right after that vote. They had a vote to for the reconciliation are -- remember that they had to reconcile something. For the money. And to vote for reconciliation was 200 and Taiwanese boats and he is the only person in congress who changed -- spoke there was deep which he's just starting. He's not an independent he certainly not a Republican he's a Democrat and the Democrats are scared to death and they're doing anything. Took trying -- feel the voters into believing that there are not Democrats. Also follow me and he's got to go and this all right keep it is wonderful. Thank god you're there -- IK UK I can't vote for you but I can support you and I will.
Well you can hop right on lining go to -- full -- website and -- Google and you'll get right there or it's. Keefe will port 2010. Dot com send them a little contribution he'll put it to watch -- use. Gonna keep yes I just thank you so much I really appreciate that. But I just wanted to say quickly with regard to the health care vote Stephen -- wants it both ways. Don't which has voted with the right vote for the wrong reasons. Frankly what he wants to live to tell the conservatives that he put a finger in the eye of the president by voting against Obama here but the same time he wants to tell us. Liberal friends that -- we held out of the public option and protecting their Cadillac insurance -- you can't have it both way. Bridges and both ways and if I could just very quickly my opponent so he didn't vote for it because it didn't have the public option but that's when he tells the people on the left. The -- will make it even worse things I would have been worse than what we it's it wasn't bad enough for Steve lynch to vote for Israel when it's not that well the story is and I think percent unfortunately and politics perception becomes reality. And may I just. My opponent has a formidable war chest. But what's interesting to -- in the 20092010. Election cycle that 44% of the money that he's raised its political action committee money pac money. Now -- and I think any one other thing that's gonna rescues in the 20072008. Election cycle. His largest single contribute Fannie Mae and wonder Fannie Mae got their money's worth. And as far as the funding is concerned a lot of people -- fed will. -- where my badge of inexperience and electoral politics. Which they all want to that was great honor but I would -- I would like to say that I do need support. I don't think I need a lot of money to win this election I think frankly with Stephen Lynch is gonna need. Every cent that he can get his hands on and I think it was probably good thing. That Bill Clinton came out to raise more pac money form because he's gonna need it all because I intend to expose them. For the tax and spend liberal ideas but again I can win that's but I do need to raise funds. And I need everybody to reach into their pockets and please. Help me out whatever you can and I promise that I will do everything I can to look up -- the best interest of my country I'm not gonna be voting lockstep with any party I'm going to do which the national interest of my country. And the reason I got into this race in the first place. Again that -- Charlie mentioned -- I was concerned about front line unit combat equipment but left a lot of friends in the book on the car on the on battlefields of Afghanistan. And I wanna do what's in their best interest I wanna look out for them a wanna be able to hold my head high and say that when times were tough. I stood up for that my principles and that's what I'm doing now and I need everybody all patriotic Americans out there to help me to please please reach into your pockets. And help me I mean if there's only twenty bucks thirty bucks. It all adds up but if I can get the money that I can buy some radio time I can get the message out there and together we can take back the state. Scott Brown you know was able to check back the senate. -- to that was fantastic a great day for Massachusetts but now we need representation on the house side and I would like to be there for my state and for New England. Well that's a --
Good speech he's not that he's a speech a fighter not bad at all. Are we gonna take quick break but everybody hang on the phone will get to one with Keefe. When we come back -- a fast one in name will be right back with -- for the candidate for congress in the ninth district of Massachusetts. Superior. Welcome back to the -- Manning show -- a few more minutes -- if you tell me a story during the break about being wounded in Afghanistan and how you have some video of it up on your website.
Our nose and wounded I was fortunate -- actually in the Congo valley in eastern Afghanistan. And I was -- with an embedded training team units from the third Marines and we were coming back from a mission to law. Going after some Talabani and as we were going back -- fire base we are actually ambush by the enemy and I was actually shot in the upper chest. Bomb by seven point 62 round. But because of the specialized equipment that I have actually went down in the kill zone. And on -- actually two Marines came from behind a barrier to drag me out of the kill zone but because of the equipment I had. I was up and fully operational in four and a half minutes and frankly this with equipment that the Marines and I was running with did not have. And now is actually the final straw for me when I decided to run for office to make sure that this doesn't happen but one of the Marines and actually pulled me out had a helmet camera. So you can actually look at a large part of the video and audio that led up to one of the luckiest days of my life not necessarily the most dignified but if you go to my web site. At www. Keith report 2010 dot com there is a link to YouTube and you can see that footage. But again I'm in this race. Initially might -- my primary impetus was some looking out for American combat forces in Afghanistan but now it's much more than that I wanted to help turn around this country. You know the jobs from the economy we've reached a tipping point we cannot be complacent. I took a year off and I'm living off of my savings to do this I -- I know I don't need this job I think proud Stephen Lynch does. But I wanted to be able to do something for my country. You know but I would just be as happy going back to Afghanistan. But -- but I would like to free up Stephen -- it's time since I know he does want to take on. Bon Scott Brown in the senate election and I'd like to do my part and -- the staunchly can focus on that under percent of the time.
Good good good all right let's not grab one more call here we just have about thirty seconds left bill in the car you're less today with -- before.
Yeah street to get there. I wanted to put all of which can walk up.
I'm very concerned about our veterans and I'm always I'm very concerned that we're not doing enough. And what I would like to do is to do work a complete assessment of what we're doing at the moment. Because I think that these are men and women who have served our country who put their lives. On the line and I think that. It's important that we look out for -- I'm sorry we're running out of time thanks so much for coming on today. Wanna thank you for coming on hate everybody stayed tuned for how we car he'll be coming up next. Thanks to a listening to all week we'll be back on Monday here on Charlie -- show have a great week.
