No tax for Mass?

Well when we left on Friday we had spent most of the Friday showed talking about senator jaw and Kerry's -- As you know the story you -- herald broke the story was the -- inside -- who broke the big story on Friday afternoon -- in Friday's newspapers and we talked about it all Friday afternoon. How Senator Kerry and the lovely dress behind. Don't call her mrs. Kerry he sure husband is John -- says she told the Washington Post. I have bought it bought a 76. Foot 76. Foot. -- you thought it was built in New Zealand. It cost in the neighborhood of seven million dollars. And they were hiding it just you Rhode Island which has different laws than we do. About sales taxes and and other taxes on John right yards. Different tax laws than we do here in Massachusetts. And they were hiding it down in Rhode Island to try to avoid. To avoid paying taxes on it. Well I told you we had so much fun in all of you came up with great names for the carry you ought to. And everywhere I went over the weekend I'm sure the same with few everybody was talking about it. It really is how we wrote in his column Sunday is is the best story of the summer. And by the way if you haven't seen how he's called yet from Sunday hop on line at The -- and read it it was just as good as she thought it would be. And even I was shocked. Even heater -- that is the house. Liberal. Columnist over there was all over John Kerry yen Dodd taking him on for. For hiding BI you all done in Rhode Island the Isabel died in Rhode Island. So anyway. We're talking about it and I said look. He is gonna have to pay these taxes he's definitely going to have to pay. Somewhere along the line then we have a caller who said hey I saw.

The Isabel up here in Massachusetts water -- again if he said he saw the -- you saw the Isabel in Nantucket or -- does -- I think he said the vineyard. But obviously the carries have their big mention over on Nantucket. And there's no reason to keep it in Rhode Island why would you have a seven -- six foot. Saving you ought to and -- key bit you know miles away where you can use it -- course you're gonna happen up here. Then once it comes up here according to the department of revenue then they have to pay the taxes on it. So the heralds in their follow up pieces. On and on Saturday. And of course we've all -- out but The Herald on Saturday to see what those follow up pieces were going to be. First they confirmed the story that our -- our caller told us that yes BI -- has been up here several people said they had seen it. Both in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard so it's cruising around in Massachusetts waters which means they have to pay the taxes. And secondly. They had a quote from one of Kerry's spokesman. Who said of course the senators always paid taxes. And he will always pay taxes and whatever is appropriate they will do. And -- thought while the Keating in pretty fast here. But then in the Sunday herald in by the way if you've been looking for coverage of the story in the Boston Globe. -- hasn't seen it mid to me this a pretty big story -- US senator trying to do little tax an Asian here. Nothing that I've seen in the globe and all why I don't know you know maybe -- globe editor would give us a call let us know why they don't think this is the story. Especially where is how we pointed out on Friday afternoon. When -- me -- got caught doing this and Jackie Robinson got caught doing this both Republicans. They were huge stories in the globe. Then of course there bear. Boats and paled in comparison KO paled in comparison to the seven the seven million dollar -- human built. Say -- you -- that the carries the Isabel that the carries had bought. Anyway The Herald did find. Kerry was asked about the taxes on his luxury -- by reporters on Friday after news broken -- Here is what he said. Well actually according to both the -- our call is on Friday the -- the Isabel has been up in Massachusetts waters already. So it should they should be paying the tax. And this is different now than what his aides were saying that of course if it's appropriate he'll pay the taxes. Pieces were pro ignore all those stocks is to the state of Massachusetts. He isn't saying whether they're gonna pay the tax or whether they're gonna keep trying to pull this -- What do you think is he eventually. Going to pay. Half a million dollars in taxes it's like 437000. In sales taxes. And then another. Local tax bill that he pay making it over half a million I mean they have -- it's no problem for them to pay it. How it breaks my heart to this day that we didn't pull that one out I think it ended up being like 5347. The globe absolutely tried to destroy -- on John Kerry's behalf. In neared the end of the campaign the story broke. Did John Kerry after saying he wouldn't take pac money. Took money the rule the democratic senatorial committee it was all made up of special interest pac money. In this is a great story that we take committed to tell you about this so anyway the story breaks at the end tenth in the primary he had run against Jim Shannon music.

But then when he got these large sums from direct payments from the democratic senatorial committee. That had all been pac money so this story broke. And it's probably like ten days before the election. And he's on the defensive and he won't say they need the money they won't say whether they would give it back in all the media saying you've got to give it back. So what they did. Is he and his wife then took their girls remember the two girls she saw them when he ran for president people spoke at the Democratic Convention here and in Boston. It's so -- twenty years younger this is in 1984. And they supposedly took their girls to the circus at the old Boston guard now I don't know if they really went to the circus and not. But the press was told that they could catch John Kerry when he came out. So we comes out in -- using the girls like shields so the press isn't being. Two obnoxious and yelling at them and you'll get the money back senator and near got a tick -- keep that pac money senator. -- does this whole.

Thing about how. -- hole also going to do that buddy black euros so. Hollywood ever explode but do road Roosevelt was cut the girls here this dog they were -- runoff. Do we got ahead also -- right -- heads on -- off though.

So he heads off. So the election happens. He wins. And probably six months after the election. The Feingold campaign finance reports come -- we've yet to fill out these giant reports we are all your money comes from. How you spend did everything you're all mine you can go look at them for any campaign. And died there on line now then used to be all paper. So one reporter I can't remember who it was it might have been frank Phillips who was then I think at the Boston Herald but now is that the Boston Globe. He's their Statehouse bureau chief. Scott Kerry's report and looked through it and look through it now he's been elected senator it's like six months after the election. -- him he's lost and going to be moving on to do other things. And great -- of course he's the man who rebuilt the modern Republican Party won all those great elections in 1990 but that's another story. Anyway frank looks in can't find anywhere that John Kerry gave back all the pac money. So they call Kerry's office in the -- people refused to comment and hideout for a few days and they won't say. And it turned out he had absolutely. Told everybody pulled you know why did everybody they never gave the money back they never intended. To give the money back. And it was only and I think it was frank I don't wanna give credit if it wasn't frank but. It was a good reporter around town who went back and looked. And they found out that even though he would sort of sports so gore drew the -- money back they never had. And then he finally had to give it back but by then he was an incumbent senator who had a six year term and was able to raise the money. It you to make up for the pac money had to give back. So that's why I'm wondering about this tax thing on Saturday his aides come out and -- You well yes the senator's gonna do right they union will look into it of course if he goes that he always does and bop bop -- But again here's his quote when he was asked on Friday. But quote that.

But words who's the majority stockholder -- loose and he doesn't wanna say front company the or are phony corporation and or you bought. And whole suit and choose a Pennsylvania taxpayer. So let's not get silly here. We've -- enormous Texas in the suit of those who choose whose who whose book the human goal here. Hard -- good call dude Paul dude. John Kerry's not paying his fair share of taxes are on his sailing yacht his 76 foot sailing yacht. How come how come we should pay at that higher level I'm voting for the 3% rate.
