Next couple weeks I --

One of the problems that pedestal language. That it's that the expiration of a tax cut instead -- let's raise taxes that's rate and it's really I mean even if you think that was a bad move in terms of the tax structure. The idea of raising taxes right now is not something any economist would recommend I don't think.

Yes and and you know in fact I spent a number of years in Japan. -- in the 1990s and and as many people know Japan had a really prolonged recession. In the middle of this in 1997. The Japanese government brilliantly decided to raise a national sales tax from 3% to 5%. And just let any economist you talk to will say that that alone managed to keep the Japanese economy in recession for at least another half of the decade if not. It's not to the president. And and this. This you know reinstatement. Even in the top tax brackets maybe even particularly in the tops -- top tax brackets. Cause the the rays in in taxes is just gonna be.

Deficit why what's the argument because I think most people hear this and they say okay raise taxes on people make 250000. Dollars a year or more. What's the big deal. Well okay some big deal is. Dot if you don't do it it costs money and there's a question of how much -- you get a benefit of reducing the deficit what are we -- what do we do through reduced if we if we let the tax cuts expire we reduce the deficit next year. A 10020. Billion dollars. -- so that's that's not you know that's not chump change that's a real amount of money. But thought would businesses are are now not hiring they haven't been hiring there in a state of gets -- Uncertainty about what they're gonna do in the future and the unemployment rate is 9%. And it's gonna -- 9% for. You know that's the foreseeable future next year they -- next year the administration is projecting 9% all year well okay so. As far as jobs are concerned you know in the in American history the largest to creation of jobs a year on year ways was not surprisingly during the Reagan years in 198384. The economy added about four million jobs. And we do that now at that rate. Starting today wolf will have you know. 5% unemployment till about we'll we'll get back to 5% unemployment somewhere around 2017. And such as when they're wild.

So wild so even if things just have ignited today that's right and and stayed completely. -- great. While 2070. Before you get tough 5%. That is that is us.

Either the Democrats who are saying you know we're gonna raise your taxes. -- they're Republicans who are saying we're gonna cut spending that. That they lose and so Republicans say we're going to -- lower taxes and Democrats say we're going to increase spending for programs I mean. In fact this year I think is a difference. This year I think people really realize just how deep the red -- is and how deep the red -- is getting and what that's gonna drive -- So you absolutely have to cut spending one thing one thing we recommend it in my campaign was that we reduce the federal civilian workforce by 10%. That we say okay. This federal civilian workforce is now over one point three million doses of the totals federal workforce is over two million for the first time since the Clinton Years. You know what's also interest -- about the tax situation is because everybody has deductions taken out of their taxes they think they pay federal income taxes. Into to make people all feel like they're investing in the system even when there. At the end of the day there may be getting tax credits and other things that are making them beneficiaries of the system rather than contributors.

And when -- when the smoke clears and April 15 passes they end up getting a a check back that that basically cancels out everything that put and so yeah I think. You know it's it's a very it's a very risky political. Policy to say let's raise taxes on though lower income people com. But the fact is you know that the distribution is an equal let's not make it any more on -- well let's let's at least you know and preserve the inequality we have currently that's right I mean there is something to be said for graduated tax day and I'm not for flat tax I -- maybe two levels -- something.
