President Obama's Nuclear Posture Review

Obama limit when the US would use nuclear arms. Now of course everyone knows about our nuclear policy. We were the first ones to develop new clear weapons. We used -- twice. And the war World War II you know use them twice and Hiroshima are not of -- and then they've never been used in warfare cents. And since World War II we have never had a world war because of the to Horowitz we went through what they call the whole war of course with. The Soviet Union and now we have another. It's wrong. Competitor in the world and nuclear China. They've never been used since 1945. Never then used. In the to torrents of our nuclear policy has on most levels. The world safe from world war it's worked for president after president from. Harry Truman to Dwight Eisenhower to John Kennedy the Lyndon Johnson to -- then. To Gerald Ford. To Jimmy Carter to Ronald Reagan. To George W bush to Bill Clinton. To George -- to George HW bush to Bill Clinton two to George Bush and now President Obama. Can't -- well enough alone. It's always work. We've always had the deterrent. With kept the world safe. And he has to change. Here's the story we're just watching by the way the press conference as we came on the air. It was a press conference with the defense secretary Robert gay who made the announcement and did not look half. And then Hillary what was jumping into -- self on the back in of course Hillary would be all for something like this. -- the story Obama limits when the US would use nuclear weapons. President Obama said Monday that he was revamping American nuclear strategy. To substantially narrow the conditions under which the United States would use nuclear wet and discussing his approach to nuclear security the day before formally releasing his new strategy. So he doesn't sit down with the with the New York Times reporters to sort of lead it out there before it was announced that the new press conference today by secretary gates and Hillary Clinton. Mr. Obama described this policy is part of a broader effort. Edged the world toward making nuclear web and obsolete. In -- create incentives for countries to give up nuclear ambitions. Mr. Obama's strategy is that sharp shift from those of his predecessors. Not only worked since 1945 folks. President Obama the smartest men in the world now he has changed this. A sharp shift from. Those of its predecessors and seeks to revamp the nation's posture in the new wage. In which rogue states and terrorist organizations are greater threat than traditional powers like Russia and China. It eliminates much of the -- ambiguity that has the liberate it deliberately. Existed in American nuclear policy. Since the opening days of the Cold War. Listen to this. For the first time the United States is that it's -- we committing. Not to use nuclear weapons against nonnuclear state. -- compliance with the nuclear non proliferation. -- that treaty even if they get. The United States -- biological. Or criminal chemical web and or launch a rippling pack. So today the president United States -- to every rogue nation in the world. We won't know. Use nuclear well and against you now we haven't used them since 1940s. But -- we've always had the deterrent today that a jury doesn't exist anymore. Even if you what -- our country. That's what Hillary Clinton was just calling it the press conference. Opens and -- his nine piece of nuclear diplomacy. Geared toward reducing wet. Mr. Obama plans to fly to prod to sign a new arms control agreement where Russia on Thursday. In the net suite will host 47 world leaders in Washington. For a summit meeting on nuclear security. Now -- our economy going. -- our country going here is this what you want the president spending his time on flying to -- to sign a treaty with the Russians. And then. Hosting 47 world leaders for summit on nuclear security I guess. I guess the unemployment rate must be to 3% and everybody want to job has one. Nobody's worried about money because the president spending next week. Talking about new -- security. Isn't that wonderful that's that that's his latest priority. And then. Asked about the escalating confrontation. With the rain and mr. Obama said he was now convinced that. -- course they are on would provide them with nuclear web and -- ability close quote. -- he gave no timeline. So he's throwing in the towel on Iran getting nuclear web and that's fine with him and yes what if Iran or Syria. Other enemies that we have in the world attack the United States -- Chemical web and or watch a crippling cyber attack killed millions of Americans guess what. Today the president of the United States said we're taking the nuclear deterrent off the table. Or chemical weapons. Or launched rippling cyber attack against our country. So if one of these nations goes after us. With biological chemical weapons kills millions thousands hundreds of thousands -- you put a number on it of Americans. We are now saying to them well we just we just won't you side our nuclear deterrent against. Which of course just in -- insulin and opens the door. This the strategy to be released on Thursday that today -- months way. Partly because mr. Obama had a adjudicate among advisers. Who he. Feared he was not changing American policy significantly. In you wonder too when he meets with the Russians in Prague next week. What he's gonna do to reverse our policy it's protect Europe all of these years. In NATO all of these years the policy of course that was put into place by President Reagan. And ended the Cold War won the Cold War for us. And for Europe.
