For her first big public appearance in to view the campaign manager for Scott's campaign debt when Strom. -- missile lot of fun behind the scenes stuff like I never knew that. The Democrat in -- forces on Election Day. Were trying to Jane and the Scott Brown phone banks I hadn't seen that written anywhere and it was really interesting all the behind scenes stuff that that was going on. And then were really lucky to have this afternoon. Some folks who are involved with the new played it's playing at the in Prague asylum which is on Hanover street in the north and in. You've got to get over as the yet we're gonna try to go my wife and ninth the -- and I know Scott was there the other night and I know that this CNET. And all of loved it it's called you're a good man Scott Brown. And we it's it's always funny you know week we had different communities in Boston you've got. The health care hospital folks you know there were all out there and at the great hospitals and in medical schools and then you have the sort of political journalism folks all all the group of that I saw little blonde two that run campaigns and on talk radio win in written. In the newspapers. And then we have a re unbelievable arts community here in Boston. Musicians. And artists and actors and actresses and with -- so fortunate and it's sort of -- never the Twain shall meet you know everybody so that does their own thing. But when something is cataclysmic. The greatest upset our political life happens like the Scott Brown election where. The whole world was watching I was doing commentary on channel five and I think. This is the most important election in the world this year not just in the country not just in the state in the world. And it's a little look at me and it turned out it sure was that way. That some folks that in the artistic community decided to get together and write a play -- couldn't and Scott brand. And so we're really happy to have Jeremy brother who is the writer and director of the play. In Evan Kaufmann who -- Scott if you saw the globe this week's gotten -- his wife -- were were there. And there's some great shots of Kevin. On the stage and Scott and Scott in the audience watching it. Seemed like a lot of fun and now I think everybody ought to get over in the edit the -- of asylum on Hanover street. So Jeremy you political junkie or is this the first race you you really got really watch and got excited about her tell me tell me about your interest in politics you know I think it.

Actually you're talking about in terms of the the the shock and on that was felt that night with the election results and the importance that you just described. I was sitting in a bar watching the election results with which far good egg lovers on cross streets so -- they -- gonna happen. And -- I think -- finished a show and I was I was you know chatting with one of the owners of -- sound normal we were kind of talking about you know. How how important -- just how bizarre this story was that of former. Cost appalled and senator. Centerfold married two of news reporter with an American Idol. Candidate daughter you know somehow you know. Took Ted Kennedy's seat from from -- Ted Kennedy's seat it's the up people's ride everybody does that as as one of the recurring jokes of the show that could crack at. Setting up for that. Yes so we were seeing there we're watching and yeah we've we realized just how much. Potentially one is for you know not only. A dramatic storytelling but also you know sheer comedy that's the shore and we can definitely use some comedy these days with the way things are going. So you just sat down and wrote a play it's a musical it's a full musical yes yeah -- to act musicals though. I I kind of sequester myself often you know shut off the world for good month and half and wrote some lyrics and the musicians musical director of the show James rule was wrote you know I don't know how many songs we haven't shows and in the eight -- nine about yes. On so it's it's so full -- act you know -- it's pretty pretty short time span to put a show like that together but given. You know how quickly this happened -- you know the shelf life of such kind of topic that people are still really interest that it it's great.

People are still interested in -- today you know we have Beth Lindstrom on in the first I don't know if you were able to catch and he when you come in over who is Scott's not campaign manager. In the phone's just lit the phone banks just lit up what real people calling saying. Gosh it was such a great experience and I'd never done it before and remember holding signs in this no war never wrote a check to anybody before. And banks that then thanks Scott you know people just it was a real people power campaign it was so much fun to see him and then. Now it's. Even become a musical which is ready as he's got saw the show did she -- GA which is not yet she did she said she thought was really terrific and it sure looked like Scott and his wife for having a fun time that -- the other night. It starts with that.

The death of Ted Kennedy -- and his ghost coming back are good Ted Kennedy knows yeah. -- like bank low -- any -- Oh my gosh that's girl okay it is the ghost of Ted Kennedy comes back to choose the successor. And and you know I I think one of the things that -- as -- you know it it really. Trusted you know give everybody if you could jams. But unfortunately because Martha Coakley lost -- race -- Gets a little worse than everybody losers always get at the war -- she's also my favorite character in the show and the woman plays her is just. So enduring the hapless and and over the -- you know just. She's a rise. And you know has marked the -- to see it. No -- if if she would love to -- if she would come I would love amber I'm sure yeah yeah I think it's probably pretty obvious with the title you're -- ounce cup round doesn't have any problem with showing up of Martha Coakley is probably not. Preserving its ticket would be a difficult thing. But yeah again it's it's an incredibly sympathetic. The portrayal of them you know if of the script shows. It's a mostly to shows he has got brown -- currently don't interact very much in the show but Scott -- comedy in Martha Coakley and tragedy the -- apple. It's a good way to put it. So that goes to Ted Kennedy is on the stage does he do it -- the accent he -- Beautiful beautiful Ted Kennedy. Excellent so he meets with the candidates and you know of the tournament -- issue with the fact we have some playing libertarian candidate just okay oh you do who is not in any way related to the Kennedy family and everybody said yeah taking all the jokes from the -- And apparently -- has people keep saying no relation. Yeah and he'd you know -- again please -- just. It deals deals but to scenes -- very funny characters and we have for a lot of these people.

You know I met him I do some interviews show called on the record on channel five and usually the candidate and then we have a little. Handle it's usually -- Marion marsh might Democrat friend and it's gonna go back and forth with Janet Wu and at Harding and Joseph L Kennedy was one of the guests one time in you know you think and who is this -- turned out. This pretty serious god yeah you worked at states treaties -- true literate he area and you know real Massachusetts guy and he -- with saved one. We do -- in here. And because -- mark he got to be in the debates because remember she refused to debate Scott one on one and she said everybody should be included and so he actually got some good pile of you know that last debate a lot of people watched it and he didn't do too badly.

Now will in this kind of thing you know he has. He he probably almost a little too serious times and involvement in terms of business it. -- Soaking rain gets a great little theaters way is -- Sundays at 70. Is completely original there's a couple of the -- to that you're good command trailer on X yeah for for people who do you know the show and you know. It's not meant to kind of isolate anyone who doesn't but if you go you'll probably see a couple of a couple of sly little knobs and Scott.

I'm -- great and that my assistant. A big musical theater and there is I don't -- ticket and that Oprah and I like I said that the political spectrum. I think we could come together -- enjoy the show -- I'm gonna plan on taking -- well.

the guy that did all his videos by the way is this great guy who whose from the north and franks he Oda. And Don has done several films. One was called in fact the north and -- and another on was called child a tally I know about a kid who from here who goes to coach football and Italy yeah. And -- then some movies and he did a lot of those videos that you sorry -- web page during the during the election so.

you're looking at some some -- go to work there I was I was an extra in one of its films -- you weren't so you know frank. I honestly don't know he knows me you know movies. Do you write the lyrics first and then he puts the music tumor you -- to collaborate -- for the most part I wrote all the lyrics and kind of -- often. Unfortunately I wrote the song before wrote the script so there were times -- he would look at the look at the songs and I wouldn't like oh yeah but this characters and being serious this is everything they're -- sarcastic so musically was like oh like the Kennedy you know the story first so. We had a lot of fun back and forth and he's just a talented he can you know whip up with office on you know. An incident and teach it to people that they can perform and -- really wonderful way and you know I -- the -- came together in such pastime appeared.

I'm always I always think that's enemy you know you think of Lennon and McCartney writing songs and Marc Stein the great columnist does writes a lot about music you need -- had the history of the song eagle vice have you ever heard this the song gas that history now yet -- from the sound of music and it was Rodgers and him a star in last blast play that they ever wrote together at last musical that they ever wrote together. Sadly Richard Rogers died of cancer chests. Months after the play opened in New York. But they were up here in Boston for the tryouts all the big Broadway plays would always be tried out here in Boston. And they were watching it said. -- Emotional moment in this play. And they went back to their place at the Ritz which is now the Taj had a can abroad in. And they set their and they wrote -- vice -- and that was the last piece that they ever wrote together. And then it was incorporated into the play. And Hammerstein. Said that from then on folks would come up to him from Austrian go. Whenever I -- that play and I hear a legal advice I remember singing it at such high -- in Austria and it touches my heart. And I guess even in the Jimmy Carter years they had the president of the prime minister of Austria at the White House. So when the president the United States walked -- they played the marine band played the star spangled banner. There when the practice could have -- what did they played a little vice that you get was the national anthem only and actually was written right here in in the Taj the Ritz. And it was about 1959. So about 51 years ago. And like I said the last piece that they ever wrote together. And they always wrote the words first and then the music.

Clarity is very similar to the as a ruthless Brothers collaboration. -- in the Taj just bang and out number after number and it is very odd you know people have come up to me after the show when they go away. -- been singing your good man Scott Brown since I was little boy was growing up and -- them good and it's it's great to hear it again yet Austrians also are huge fans of the day Lothian -- Austrian tourists come this sum up the whole Scott Brown and Martha -- and it just -- Austrian -- and I understand they understand the idea of persecution. You don't know where that trucks taken yet if you don't get of the truck could turn left there could turn rod any and all this prop metaphor in his sort of put down to Scott. And then later at the big rally out Wooster Scott came out he said you know the president was here today and I don't care what he says about me but leave my truck all love it was it was a really one of the best lied to the -- it. 6172666868. He he's so disappointed and goes over the top. You gotta be get a -- what my favorite moments from Asia. You know it's amazing the thinking is that opening day for the Fox's Sunday night Easter night against the Yankees. Last year opening day I remember being there who they -- can't remember up or try to maybe. And Ted Kennedy cannot throughout the first -- and he got it to home plate and I remember thinking when I saw arm. People had been in New Year's all these people hadn't really a lot of folks zoned in on that race yet. And a lot of people watched that debate it's gonna be one of the most talked about. It was funny because I was doing commentary on channel five afterwards and somebody said well didn't really change things both did you see what happens you was a really good. And in I've watched all the Democrat debates during their primary nights at that was her weakest performance and they all know I was wrong. And then when they did the polling right after the debate Nixon who won. I think it was like Scott 68 yen and mark elect 34 something like that it would it was a blow out odd debate that doesn't happen that often.

Where was Joe. God Joe the I don't even think he has to have 20. He saw the got expelled there are a little bit I thought. Six foot 72666868. The number were really having fun this afternoon we have the writer and director of the new play you're a good -- Scott Brown. His name is Jeremy Brothers. And we have the got to -- Scott Brown. But they have all the characters in this -- they've got the coast of Ted Kennedy. They have god a Martha Coakley character. They have got to Joseph Kennedy no relation. Character and who else is and that's we've got some playing -- half you do -- price wise we've got I hunt. We've got some -- Deval Patrick.

It's you know he also has one of the nicest voices and it's beautiful ridiculously funny in the shows though. Yeah it's it's a great cast what's what is the default because he wasn't a player in that race at all you know with his poll numbers so bad I think the Coakley folks didn't really wanna have much to do with him -- in this in the show she she just asks for his endorsement. And you know he tries to caution her. And you know he's kind of the voice of reason for the entire show in terms of you know you've got to step up you're game you gotta get a little bit more aggressive what are you doing. And ultimately when she loses. You know he has a very kind of you know funny angry tirade you can make make his job harder to get reelected it sure does it. Now do you have her saying the famous line from the globe story about what a -- was to do stand out front -- says this does -- yeah -- we've actually condensed a lot of for gas into one scene you just -- one woman -- incredible because Erica Erica that was all the things that she said -- condensed into one scene where a reporter keeps kind of asking her seemingly you know softball questions and she just keeps put your foot -- Evan you studied Scott I'm sure you think you watch Dolly's videos and everything to.

Play him. Describing forest you met him now we came and saw the play the other night you play a minute play. His folks my friends from all over the country called -- said. Who -- do you know him what it's -- what's what's -- all about. Indict a certain way that I described and to everyone that I Beatrice to hear what you have to say. While. I will save this he certainly has that air about him that members of late the -- or not the -- the stone cutters kind of half way and he seems like he has he cuts a powerful figure he'd definitely. You know he lights up a room and now when he came down to -- theater it was just incredible. Regardless of how people voted her felt. You know people want to get near this guy it's no wonder he was shaking some hands like people want to touch him and feel his rippling Ab muscles.

That's -- triceps. -- the same pride evident whether it's an idea and it's got its deeply foot taller yeah. It's incredible he just looks like his or bigger movie -- with a very small person again and -- is because they generally slump and some solid enough food and you know most -- when you play Scott -- stand up straight you know my daughter has not advanced -- near the top Asian American Idol this year is a real disappointment. Oil was up was it's you know you forget what -- who player US -- know BC he's in the ACC. You know probably the toughest to plea. In she played from when she was a freshman -- and -- moon -- more than. Yeah sports I'd be Jamie is a huge -- and a contributor I'm gonna go over to yeah irony activists and talk to the sports guys over there talks -- good socks. They did it they did it in this race and in fact we're talking about -- talking to Beth Lindstrom in the campaign manager about it in the first hour. They eat right don't include a right on key they call the 430 press conference. In the -- like there had been previously. Marked. Ballots in several precincts. And the Scott Brown people were smart enough to call reporters who were going to the press corps and say look this run of the game plan ask in this ask him that make shore. And so weather reports that will wear wear it where is widespread previously marked ballots and where it's and they said. Willing Cambridge we found two. So everybody in the press -- If that's Scott Brown people try to steal Leo locks Connecticut and -- in cricket yes that's hoping about flying in. Election experts and they should have said. We found previously marked ballots and right thumb you know and -- out hundreds for days oh are you from -- oh no I do I didn't know that that's so weird right all the towns in Massachusetts he just pulled though and it's it's one of the best names Tauscher it's one of the best names of any touted massacres that there is funny -- most people don't know how to pronounce it -- there's W their trips people up. 6072666868.
