On this bill legislative hearing. And didn't beat either during or immediately after with his campaign separate and apart from the governor as the governor. He is gubernatorial reelection committee sent out a press release that challenge baker and said why is he invisible. And that he should he should have been doing something about there because who's used a big shot exact yet how the pros here's the thing. To.

Paul was elected to a first of all this is so a political trek right you try to draw your opponent into a fight. When you think that his philosophy will force him. I think it's I think it's good bill that I think the whole cyber notion of bullying has three teenagers right -- I'm quite aware of how much time these kids -- FaceBook and these other online. Conversational opportunities how are your kids sure 1916 and twelve do you limit the access. We don't limit their access -- Sabo we do is the only computers in the house or in the fairly or member of screens based out there's two of them. And so if anybody we know how much time is spent and on the on the computer we know what they're doing then. And I think that's worked pretty well.

Yeah I know that sounds like a good practice.

But I really do worry about in that the kid alone in their room feeling completely alone and getting stuck in one of these. Horrible conversations are horrible. Situations where people are just camera and they you know hammered him over and over again -- it's almost like there's no place -- there's no place to go so like the old days where. I heard you guys talking about health care whether or not I was missing in action on this whole issue from the governor earlier this week I guess I guess I just a couple things which is that. Five years ago I started talking about the fact that we needed more transparency in the all pricing should be public information. Then people nodded and together it would certainly help in the the administration did not think. And in three years ago senator Murray talked about having hearings -- health insurance premiums went up more than I think -- 7%. Three years ago and -- like a good idea -- can't wait and the administration did nothing then two years ago. Senator Murray got a bill passed the required the administration to hold hearings -- spoke to all of them in the fall of 2008. And here it is the spring of 2000 -- and the administration has done nothing so. I guess I would start by saying that you know that I've done everything I could I believe is the guy. -- from the outside to try to get the state to engage on this thing and then. And I think to a -- at this point is this sort of it has a -- it's just blatantly political.

Jolly you're familiar with some of the arguments about insurance companies and guys are just very expensive middleman you're in the middle you don't do anything you don't provide any particular service. That you right.

I understand that but you're familiar with the criticism. Huge profit margins -- huge salaries how do you respond because in the political arena you -- now. You know people are gonna say yeah I was making a million bucks a year and -- gouge it.

The -- wanna be hearings and I started talking about transparency and public disclosure so long ago Thomas I believe that everybody in the industry should be in the hot seat they insurance companies the pharmaceutical industry that providers the hospitals everybody and that bothers me that you know for years and this administration they've basically done nothing to get that ball going. I think everybody should be everybody should be in the public discussion on this stuff that I would have loved to have had an opportunity to have everybody -- we would have made a heck of a lot more progress we've made up until now.

And I think you're right transparency is a key thing in terms of bringing down costs which is the essence of what. The whole concern over health care is is that costs -- run out of control.

Right I mean agenda item 90% of the spending is being spent and actual medical care. Drugs start hospitals. Therapy and that sort of thing -- it you're not talking about that thing you really can't get it edit edit the problem at all.

I take my -- diplomatic they would send I think big government idea that a fantastic one. Only if the governor would apply the same rules do state government you know entity anymore they want you gotta go -- exactly -- To if we want you ask -- go to -- they all October you know what that's forced -- delivered in this same thing but I think they want the government has done. In the last couple years since he's been governor he increased outfield that by 25%. He brought it in the field staff on the lecture a bank he still supports haven't. I mean that they'll list goes on -- let me challenge get -- you gonna try to -- the increase in the sales tax yes.

Would you phase it out for new officers coming up.

No I think we should come up with a different program for. For police officers I think having an educational access for police services is a good idea. But the problem we have go to Quinn go for all intents and purposes. That it is it is. It's only going to be either for the people who. Qualified for the program previously we need to invent a new one and I think that's fine I think we should do that I think we should sit down local government sit down spokesman law enforcement community. They come up with a new program because I think the it is an educational incentives for police officers and a good idea.

Well I sit throw on time I think one of the big problems we've got his third. There's just too many state agencies doing too many things overlapping jurisdictions. And all the rest and I think we should dramatically simplifies. State government operating model dramatically simplifies the bureaucracy and reduce. But a significant amount the number of people who work for state government and the number I talked about it the reduction in the workforce of about 10%. And edit and you know -- and that would be. You believe your choice I think there will be incredibly. Difficult thing to do for everybody involved but the bottom line is. You know we have a little less businesses the middle -- a little less big and small businesses cities and towns. Having gone through a significant amount of restructuring and reform and I just don't think state government has done anywhere near the same level of restructuring and reform -- seen happen. Everywhere else and that big government needs to play by the same rules everybody else plays by its revenues down and then state government to get smaller not bigger.
