Obama winning Colorado?

AM 680 WR TO political right of the Denver post Karen Grammy good mark -- Thank you for joining us Tom Finneran and Wendy Murphy a reverend a beautiful studio in Boston. You're one of the prettiest states of all time but politically -- reading that it's going through. Whether it's upheaval -- transition knowledge you choose the word but tell us what is going on with Colorado and whether you think Barack Obama's -- going to put that in the democratic column.

Well I mean at the moment. Senator Obama has about I'd say -- five point lead in the polls over John McCain. But yet it does state that has voted for one democratic presidential candidate forty years so. You know add that onto the fact that a third of our voters are registered independents -- just don't really know what they're going to do I think until Election Day. It's looking good for robot. As a as a think and a number of places but -- state that really does kind of vote in the libertarian manner they just want government out of the way.

So I'm gonna come right out of the wire wearing the polls now. To the once you're aware of from out there were when they sing about is is easy in the lead by how much.

It's about five percentage point Obama's lead.

And there are you know there's a lot of discussion and we do it virtually every week about how being five points ahead. If you consider is unspoken race issue. Or race factor. Being five points ahead is is like being behind. For Obama.

Yeah I don't know I know I don't think it so much Colorado I mean we we actually had. Without a number of considering how this small black population actually is in the states. A number of statewide and local black leaders so I think it's not going to be an issue at all. But I don't think it isn't as much as you -- perhaps some other states in the country I I do you think. That. You know they've they've made a big deal about registering. So many Democrats and that they questioned whether they get out and vote because. We had early voting going on for awhile now and mail in ballots and the numbers are much lower for the return on the -- And anyone had thought.

And two does McCain get any traction from the read. -- see Obama you've got to worry about his gain of three argument.

Yeah I think he you know well they are probably collapse -- first I I think that had keep perhaps started that argument a little earlier. I think he would've gotten more bounced out of Colorado because actually like executed I mean coloradans kind of are aware of you know.

But you know I I don't know if they got the argument out there in enough time I mean no one in their right mind would have seen. Colorado the voting for a liberal Democrat in the Democrats that we collected here's statewide have all been very moderate. And you know six months ago everything there's no way a Liberal Democrats went Colorado so. You know as -- Erica -- which is definitely energized the base in Colorado Alex yet nationally in Colorado Springs which is a really really conservative area. You know they want further they love -- and some other places in. This state as well but she thought that getting that same. Lashed back that she's been getting around the country with -- qualified. You know what if something happens to John McCain you know.

I'm Karen just to back up a little bit. One party nation issue. I I think you're right came out late I think it is gaining some traction it certainly resonating specially for people in Massachusetts although I think we're irrelevant state when it comes to this next election. It is very creepy really creepy to have one party in charge and every office and and you know grants government -- And an island you know space is an art in our. Statehouse but. Here's a thing. Besides the question. One party nation. The other thing that seems to be resonating is this notion of wealth redistribution. And -- that seems to be the scenes it's really sticking -- and I think helping McCain. In the polls isn't true that independents which -- answer your singles of the huge Independent base it really hates the government. Isn't likely to make the biggest difference at all because wealth redistribution as an idea. And we do it we call it welfare call every -- but we do wealth distribution despite in with -- Republican or Democrat. But if you're dependent. Boy that's the one thing you're gonna say hey you know I want I want more of my money I want the government out of my pocket book is that likely to be the thing that sticks with with Colorado voters.

You know I think it's definitely gains contraction. John McCain event last week in a lot of people but I actually did they -- person I talked dimensions socialism in. You know that. The wealth redistribution. But. I can I think you might be too lately as we party had 35% of the electric boat. You know we only have a few more days to get. Unit that mat that out to undecided and you know days electorate is tight -- so -- at the Colorado only -- maybe one to 2% of people undecided so. If he can drive that home a little more. And you know get that out in the last few days maybe it'll make a difference on Election Day. But I'm just not I'm not sure because so many people party voted and you know what I talked to people that kind of thrown up their hands in I don't really like either of them.

I don't know I'd say the word Independent I when I that was libertarian the percentage of your voters are at it. Yeah that would libertarian -- I remembered that they are most libertarians you would describe and discarded cars independence. Get her Independent -- the military how to have a military.

aren't they have an orientation -- respectfully at time last question we deal we always hear that Massachusetts has infected the politics of New Hampshire. But the car is the Colorado political transition to describe pressed. Being infected -- are affected by an out migration from California what is actually going on within the borders of California. That is attributable to something outside the borders.

Well you know it's funny it's not just California it's you know that the case that the New York and like east coast cities people have been moving here. -- And add that onto the increase in the Latino population. And I think that's one of the big reasons the State's starting to lean bullet.
